The Official "Demon's Souls" Thread

Got it used off Ebay for $50, shipped.

I just refuse to trade any of my games for a few dollars so they could turn around and resell them for $5-10 cheaper than retail.

Having a large collection is also nice. :)

Meh, I had a go-round on GH:Metallica, found it was harder than GH3, so my gf (who is much more into metal than I am, sans Disturbed) refused to play it, so it sat there collecting dust.

Traded that in today, got $20 credit towards a $49.99 copy of Demon's Souls. If it's not good, I'm flying across the pond to cut AB's nipples off.

Ok, I've been playing this on and off for a couple days now. Amazing game. My only question is, how is it Live players are being summoned in by hosts? I've put a blue stone down only to get summoned into a game where there are two Full HP Bar (live?) playing. Me being the only fool @ 1/2 bar. :pinch: Sometimes im the 2nd in and the 3rd guy will get summoned in Full bar. I don't get it.

Did I miss something here ? Glitchers? Exploits?

Again, amazing game...I've been in spirit form for too long... :D

I actually went and bought the art book and soundtrack CD on eBay on Friday. Not bad for ?9.95. I just need to get the game now! :D

I'm planning to get it from here for ?38.39 + ?2 shipping to the UK, which is a very good deal for a new in-demand import game.

You're at half a bar cause you're in soul form, they're in body form which means full health. If you help them kill a boss you'll get your body back, but it can be beneficial to play the game in soul form.

As time consuming as it is, I really recommend everyone studies this wiki before playing Demons Souls - http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/

VERY important if you want to maximize your Demons Souls experience, the game doesn't hold your hand and you'll miss many thing unless you explore/learn to know what they mean. Especially when it comes to tendencies, learning about your health/body form and what it's best to spend the Demons Souls on on your first play through (DO NOT consume the boss souls all of them can be at least used for one thing first playthrough, many multiple things in new game +, one soul actually has 4 uses). The other random souls are for consuming, apart from Colourless, they're for upgrading special weapons.

Thanks for the responce. This much i know. What I don't know is how they're managing to summon live players. (alive). Where as when I'm alive only players in soul form is all I seem to be able to summon. Can players while alive se the blue summon markers also? Cause I haven't seen any while in full form.

And yea, I haven't consumed any of the 3 boss souls i have yet. Better to turn them in for miracles i assumed.

hmm, i take it the hp bar defaults to that size for visibility's sake during coop, regardless of the total hp amount. i see it at half where others see a full bar. though i get bigger chunks taken from it. makes sense this way.

Just how hard is this? I'm playing through the God of War Collection at the moment on normal difficulty which is about the right challenge for me - just tending to die (alot!) on some of the bosses.

If Demon's Souls is really really hard I'll probably end up not playing it so I'm a bit reluctant to get it. How's everyone else finding it?

Just picked this up last night, I died probably 10 times withing 5 minutes of the tutorial ending. It makes it fun for me because it's much more rewarding when you actually are successful. I decided to take a break and do some reading on the game first.

Definitely read up on the game on the Wiki, so many mistakes you can make handling the souls and what not, the game does not hold your hand :p

I like the gameplay, the graphics are good, I just can't get into the story enough to progress much (I've beaten two bosses so far). With me getting BS2, GoW3, Heavy Rain, and renting (at the very least) Dante's Inferno and trying to plat Midnight Club LA, this'll be on the back burner for a bit unless someone wants to team up late nights.

Call me a dolt, but I couldn't follow the story. The game play is fun, but the story? I'd would of preferred 'rescue the princess by going through all of these levels' than what they have now.

How much of an impact does your build have on the difficulty of the game? I am considering doing something like one of the "ninja" builds that is on that wiki, but if this is a game where it is easier less difficult to have a well-rounded powerful character I might be better off doing that.

You either build yourself up to be a walking tank, or go for speed.

One tip I can give you is get some form of ranged attack, a bow asap if you don't have a spell, it's crucial.

So is this game really that hard? How does it compare to say prince of persia the sands of time trilogy or Ninja Gaiden II(not the watered down Ps3 version).

It's challenging more than it is hard, NG2 is just plain unfair with enemies throwing things at you off screen and 60 different mobs attacking you at once.

In DS you're usually always only up against 1 or 2 mobs, it's just being patient, death comes mainly through user error or trying to take on something too difficult for you, which can be done, but you need to be patient.

I have a question for people who have been playing this for awhile. My health max has been low (around 60%) and then when I killed the first boss (Phalanx) it went back up to 100%. Shortly after that I died again so it went back down to 60%, I wasn't able to recover that "soul" because I died on the way back to it. Is there any way to get your health back to 100% besides killing bosses? If had made it to my original body would that have brought me back to 100%?

You need to do one of the following:

- Beat a boss at the end of a level

- Use a Stone of Emphernal Eyes (spelling?)

- Kill an end boss as a blue phantom in another players world

- Kill a player as a black phantom in another players world (I think, haven't done it yet)

I think that's all, someone else can correct me if I'm wrong on any of them.

For single player only, not so much. If you want to PVP, build matters a lot.

    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
