The Official "Demon's Souls" Thread

Probably going to pick up a used copy of this today. My goal is to get the plat before AB does.

I'll beat you, get my ass around to it this weekend or hangover cure on new years day.

You need to complete the game at least 3 times, there's a wee trick to save you having to do it 4 times, which is the normal amount of times needed to get all the trophies.

It new game+'s you see, it's not like just completing the same game 3/4 times, enemies harder, new magic/abilities get unlocked by the souls you used for other things first play through etc. You carry everything over and enemies scale.

New game + is arguably the hardest, putting aside the initial learning curve, the each + after that difficulty only goes up 8% I think.

Best of luck with that, as it's gonna be an almost impossible challenge! :p

Then people can't bitch about my Leisure Suit Larry plat :p

I know for a fact I probably won't plat this any time soon, not with Bioshock 2, Heavy Rain, and God of War 3 coming in, plus any rentals I get and needing to finish the plat on inFamous, it'll be a between-games-game.

I probably won't be playing it anytime soon either, but because my mum is pressuring me to save my money for driving lessons, which I don't want to do because I've got no use for a car for at least two or three years.

I'm still waiting on the eBay auction I'm watching. It ends tomorrow night at 11, and it's currently at ?46. If it goes beyong ?55 or so, I'm leaving it, and I have a backup plan, which is to get the game here for ?40, and then get the art book and soundtrack here for a tenner! :D

Do you think we can trust that site? I was about to order two games and the checkout page had a load of SQL errors. I was just wondering if anyone has experience of them?

I don't think I'll be ordering it for a while sadly, due to my parents. They say I now have to ask them every time I want to order something with my own money, which is a git, as I was hoping to order Demon's Souls either tomorrow or Friday. :(

Ordering now! Look forward to seeing how hard it really is.

Overrated hardness from the point of view of I think most people who haven't played it now expect parts of the game that are insanely unfair or something to substitute as being hard.

It's not a challenge like that, it's about being methodical and careful everywhere and you'll survive. I can clear levels now without dying in succession. However you can and will die everywhere and anywhere.

Games system is also aggro based and unlike WoW where enemy health goes back to full when you de-aggro it doesn't in this, so with some nifty tactics you can take a lot of enemies down easily.

Start as Royal for ranged magic attack, ranged attacks are crucial in this game, get a bow and dexterity up as well as a priority.

I really want to find a cheap copy so I can try this sucker out, then rag on it just to bother you Gavin :(

How about the one I linked above? It's ?38.39 + ?1.98 shipping, or in your case, ?41.99 + ?1.98 postage (it does show the prices in Danish Kroner, but when you checkout, it'll only do it in either US Dollars, Pounds Sterling, Euros, or Swedish Kronor).

Because that's not what I consider cheap - That's basically standard game price and that's more than I want to pay just to bother Gavin :p

It's an import, so what do you expect? :p Compared to most of the sites I was browsing that sold it, this is cheap. I only found one place based in the UK that sells it, but they're charging ?49.99 for the Standard Edition, and ?59.99 for the Deluxe Edition.

Easy solution: Wait until it's released around here :p Gavin will probably still be singing its praises by then :shiftyninja:

Unfortunately, I might be forced to wait for a European release as well, unless my parents allow me to buy the US version.

The problem is, there's no guarantee this game is being released over here. Atlus have no plans at all to release it in Europe, and there's no rumours anywhere of a European release. :(

AHA! You just admitted the game is boring, NA NA NANA NAAAAA, ALALALLALALALALA?!?!?!

So, how's life?

Pretty ****.

But I'm away to get ###### ass drunk tomorrow on meds at a flat party for new year and use the new girl I'm seeing as a see-saw.

So quite good actually, away to watch Die Hard 2 in 1080p with DTS on my "PSTripple > 360". That's what I call it.

I can finally forgive you Gavin, after all these years - I suspected you were a Sony employee or just general consumer bias towards Sony but I can clearly see it's just a drug haze :p Seriously, doesn't sound fun man :/ I hope you are kidding about the alcohol, mixing that with meds can be really, really serious unless the variants you are taking doesn't have any disclaimers against it but believe me, I've seen the effects of it.

As for Die Hard ... Sounds good actually, think I might have a marathon right about now! *Goes to get the cold Pizza from the fridge*

Haha without going way off topic, yeah some of my random anger and irrational crap over the years has been because of that. I do just try to joke nowadays but I've caused so much damage with people it's best just to leave the jokes now unless I can join in with others.

Yeah I'm just joking I had a few beers at x-mas eve and was fine, doc says just moderate, you'll get drunk quicker, your meds won't do anything bad per se. I'm Scottish, our bodies tolerate inane amounts of alcohol, ask Andy, if he's still not being emo with you :p

And yeah I am an employee, I work for the Lair Devs. Pizza and Die Hard ftw.

Tsk, don't talk to me about bodies tolerating alcohol amounts, you are speaking to the ?ber Viking. Getting drunk faster is just a plus, no need to waste time with drinking, just gotta enjoy the buzz  And Andy still hates me I think >.> Don't blame him though.

As for more on-topic conversation, send me your copy of DS when you get bored with it ... I'll pay the shipping ( I'm so nice ) - kk?

Now go watch Die Hard.

You?

Why is this game insanely difficult to find anywhere less than $5 cheaper than retail? ..and thats used too. :pinch:

Bit of a niche title and Atlus only usually do low prints of their games to keep their costs down, they're a small studio. They sold 150k copies in month 1 of release and I think that took them by surprise with all the people who had obviously imported the Asian copy.

It's worth it but ;)

    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
