UFC 101 (Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin)

Recommended Posts

I hate UFC. It should be called UGC because all it is, is grappling now. What was so cool about the first few ones was it was the different types of martial arts, all pit against each other with almost no rules. Now it's just a grapple fest. 99% of the matches are just some guy getting the other in a grapple move and either punching him out or making him submit. You know EXACTLY what's going to happen every time. BORING!!! Before it was so wide open and unpredictable, it was awesome.

Wow that Silva vs Griffon fight was strange. I'm speechless. The punch that finished Forest was just a tab and he was out, very strange.

Yeah that was weird and Silva marches on again who's next?

People calling the punch that Forrest got 'light' need to have their eyes checked. It was front on straight in the frontal part of the jaw.

Good punch, but sad to see Forrest lose. Silva is without a doubt the best there is. Belfort will have quite a hard time (maybe an impossible one).

Yeah, it was a straight on punch but Silva was moving away from him so I don't see how there could have been that much behind it. I don't think it was so much that punch that did it but the first two times Silva knocked him down before that. Pretty unbelievable all in all. I wish the fight had lasted longer.

And look at this...

Anderson Silva to give up title if it means more fights at light heavy weight

One of the worst stoppages ever in the Sadollah fight.

We've seen that guy take a beating time and time again, so him just taking some time to get up didn't mean that he was out of it. If I recall Season 7, Sadollah had a good chin.

The ref was too hasty.

I can't believe that forrest just walked out after the fight instead of staying in the ring. Though the way silva mocks some of the people he fights isn't much better.

Apparently his jaw got dislocated and broken...

I wouldn't stand around the ring. I'd get in the back quick for them to do something.

Yeah, have to admint Silva was simply amazing. I hope they give his Machida next because that will be a very interesting match up.

Really disappointed for Ken Flo. BJ was just way too strong for him. I can't see anyone knocking him off the top of the 155lbs ladder even if he does face Diego Sanchez.

Amir Sadollah - No way was that a justified stoppage! The UFC really need to get the old guard refs back in to the Octogon! Bring back Big John McCarthy! He's a free agent too now that Affliction is finished!

If you read the link to yahoo sports I posted up there ^ Silva said he doesn't want to fight Machida because they are friends and training partners. However, if Dana White has other plans...who knows?

“Lyoto is my friend, he is my brother and there is no way that fight will ever happen,” Silva said.

I would love to see it but I doubt it will happen! :(

It's not the UFC and it's not the Ref's.. it's simply dan miragliotta.. he needs to go, he has too many issues like this. My biggest issue with the Sadollah fight was not only that it was stopped to early, but after he initially fell down, ALL (EVERY ONE) of Johnny's punches were to the back of Sadollah's head.. every single punch, watch it over again. Now how can dan miragliotta not step in and give Johnny a warning or take a point from him instead of just calling the fight.. it was brutal.

Regarding BJ.. i really think sanchez is gonna take care of him.

Wait you can't punch the back of the head? If thats against the rules I could see him not calling it but when a fighter goes down and stops blocking punches I can see the ref stepping in. Yeah I thought it was a bad call but they gotta make that choice quick.

No you most definitely can NOT punch the back of the head.. and every shot once sodallah went down was to the back of the head. Sadollah was doing his best to get back to his feet and covering his face, it's all he could do to get up, he has no reason to protect the back of his head because it's an illegal blow. Watch it again and see all the punches to the back of the head.

Don't forget Yves Lavigne. Him and Dan Miragliotta seem to be the main 2 refs these days with the odd appearance by Herb Dean for main events. What happened to Steve Mazzagatti, Mario Yamasaki and the others? They might have made their own bad decisions, but they were no where near as bad as the new crop!

If you feel like you get a lot of value out of the site please do whitelist ads on the news articles, and/or consider getting a subscription, we offer two tiers, one at: $14 per year (support the site for just over a dollar a month) or the $28/year tier (just over $2/month) that disables advertising and affiliate link tracking throughout the site (so also on the news side). We also have a 'Buy us a coffee' page if you just want to make a one-time donation. I am not mincing words when I say it is becoming harder and harder to monetize publications like Neowin, it's a fact of life that when we can no longer afford to pay for everything we'll go like many other sites already have. It doesn't have to cost you anything There are other ways to support Neowin too, like posting on topic content in the forums (technical support/questions/helping others) and sharing our news articles.. this costs nothing but your time and is just as important as subscribing or making a monetary donation! Anyway thanks for your time and continued support of Neowin. Now in our 26th year, and hopefully many more! For all the lurkers out there that whitelist us, make a free member account, and see fewer (only inline) ads on the news side

It now looks like the same product, not a separate dashboard. Pairing is one tap and zero typing: the generated WebUI password is now copyable, and the QR code carries the credentials — scanning it from your phone logs straight in (no typing the IP or password), then drops the credentials from the address bar. Search Two new providers: RuTor (CIS sources, no login, via a public TorAPI relay) and Torrents-CSV. Results are sorted by seeders (healthiest first), and each search now times out after 15 s so one dead provider can't hang the UI. Files & trackers Per-file priority is back: right-click a file in the detail panel to set Skip / Low / Normal / High. Rename an individual file inside a torrent (double-click or the file menu), separate from renaming the torrent. Remove a tracker from a torrent (the ✕ on a tracker row); adding was already there. Smart Paste on Ctrl+V — paste a magnet, a 40-char info-hash, or a .torrent URL straight from the clipboard and it's added immediately (text fields still paste text normally). Covers & titles Anime fansub naming ([Group] Title - NN) now resolves to the right show. Audio channel layouts in titles (DDP5.1, 7.1, …) are stripped so they don't pollute cover matching. Under the hood The legacy QWidget interface is gone. QML had been the only UI since 3.0.0 (reachable old code lived behind a hidden --legacy flag); with parity confirmed, the entire QWidget layer — main window, every dialog, the theme manager — was removed (~13,400 lines). The four restored actions above were features that backend already supported but the QML port had never wired. macOS: the WebUI password hash moved out of the keychain into app settings, so launching the app no longer pops a login-keychain password prompt on unsigned builds. The actual password still lives in the keychain. Cleanup: ~400 orphaned translation strings and a batch of dead code removed; internal duplication collapsed; an ARCHITECTURE.md added for contributors. Unit / security / memory tests and the ASan/UBSan/TSan sanitizers stay green. • How about a global switch to turn the awful things off instead of a registry hack? Then everyone wins.
    • This doesn't strike me as so shocking when... " IT admins do have some control over this rollout. If they choose to opt out, devices in their tenant won't automatically get the dreaded Copilot app"
