lee31
As some users know both the 32bit and 64bit version of Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview has leaked I can't give links in here but I'll say thanks to our friends in russia. No not that russian site, think again. Hint... they usually post windows 7 build numbers. Edited May 16, 2009 by lee26

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted May 16, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted May 16, 2009 I think the blandness looks great. +1 How often do you open Office to go "hey guys look at all the colours and buttons and orbs!!!!1111" Cleanness and functionality > trying to be extravagant. One reason I thought the interface in Office 2007 was a disaster.
-KJ
Yeah it does look bland, but I like it. I think they are heading towards neutral colors. Vista had a very blue/green bias. Windows 7 took some of that away and introduced the white/gray look. They could get rid of that border around the paper since it already has a drop shadow and gray bg... It'll look even nicer and more natural then. Also, simplicity is a big fad right now. As soon as everyone jumps over into the simplicity trend things will get boring and products won't stand out like Apple's products did (although simplicity with a look of sophistication is harder to pull off). Look at the beverages and such, a lot of it is simpler now to grab the attention of customers against busy designs. We will start seeing a shift towards busy designs again in the future. Apple will probably stay simple and clean. That's how they roll :) Design trends happen like that, lol. Edited May 16, 2009 by psygn

Guest
... it's an office suite. Could say the same about anything... it's an operating system yet people complain about the smallest of details. If im going to use the software it should be aesthetically pleasing. This is just... uhh... too plain.
Calum Veteran Posted May 16, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 16, 2009 Thanks for the screenshots, it actually looks very nice! I'm usually one for busy interfaces like Office 2007, but I actually think the cleanness of this design may benefit the Office suite - I know of many 'average' computer users who were confused by Office 2007 and still don't like it because they haven't been able to get used to it. I will have to try this out when the Technical Preview is released to see what I think of the design, first hand, but it really does look nice and I like the way the title bar is faded into the tabs of the ribbon. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted May 16, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted May 16, 2009 It looks far better on the eye than the mess Office 2007 was, and as you can see with paint open in my picture the interface has consistency with other Windows applications. I'm glad for once MS aren't adopting an interface that looks like it's right out of a fischer price catalogue.

Kyang
I'm only a casual user of Office so I don't have much opinion on things like performance or the deeper elements of the UI, but from these screenshots, it looks gorgeous.

AndroidPenguin
Downloaded it, installed it. And the first thing I notice is the AMAZING speed. Opens and closes at a touch of a button and is a lot faster than 2007. Also all those saying it looks "bland" - (in my opinion) it really doesn't. Download took around half hour - it's now running super fast along side my 2007 version. Although I must add 2007 is having a few problems getting started but is otherwise working completely normal. AndroidPenguin
What exactly is a tech preview? Is it a full functioning build? Or just a preview with tons of bugs? Not even alpha? or beta? Or what is it exactly? Fully functioning - it's like having a normal Office suite installed. Not met any bugs so far - stable and quick, basically there's been a UI change and several different features have been added.

Not met any bugs so far - stable and quick, basically there's been a UI change and several different features have been added. I already had the Technical Preview of Office 2007 back then, worked really nice as well  So why shouldn't this one work fine either? Besides that, it's good to finally have a 64-bit version :woot: It has started appearing on my HD now, and I'm curious to try it out.
