Does anybody has this problem?

When running setup on win7 rc1 i'm getting this error

---------------------------

Setup Error

---------------------------

Setup cannot find the required setup controller file. Either there was a network error, an error reading from the CD, DVD, or other installation media, or a problem with the package you downloaded.

---------------------------

OK

---------------------------

happens with x86 and x64 version

I'm trying to install from harddrive? Do the files need to be on a CD?

I'm impressed over the speed of Office 2010, opens and runs much faster than 2007.

I like it so far :)

One thing, so far, I've noticed in Outlook, is that Send/Receive doesn't include IMAP server, only my POP3.

And before anyone asked if I've included it in the options for send/receive... Yes, I have.

WMDC doesn't pick up that Outlook is installed, so can't sync with my HTC Diamond. Anyone found a way round this?

On a similar note, Google Calendar Sync says incompatible version and won't sync, and an error dialog comes up saying Outlook can't fulfill the messaging request. Now I know this is unreleased software and stuff like this is going to happen, but does anyone know of a registry string I can edit or something to trick these programs into thinking it's Office 2007 so I can sync again?

Thanks.

Have they changed the way Excel or PPT can only open up one instance of itself to view Workbooks or presentations side by side on multiple monitors? There have been workarounds in the past to do this but you sacrifice some copy/paste functionality and can't open files from a double click in email so it's always been a bit of a hack, especially with Office 2007.

I know you can stretch the canvas across multiple monitors and then position individual spreadsheets on each monitor at least for Excel, but I've never understood why they didn't make Excel and PPT behave more like Word when managing multiple windows/instances of the app. TIA.

Hey people, the new office is really good. Fast, responsive. However, I keep getting this message on some of my .doc/x files: "Protected view. This file originated from an internet location. Enable editing."

Does anyone get that? Also, if someone knows how to remove it I will be thankful.

Hmm. Just now, after looking at Frazell's screenshot, I noticed they have two different tab background designs for the Ribbon, one for Windows 7 (hazy white glass fading down from the titlebar) and one for Windows Vista and probably XP (solid grey background). Does the hazy white glass tab background appear in Vista when the window isn't maximized?

Outlook works just fine in a exchange environment and with pop/smtp servers. But I've been running into serious problems with Visual Studio 2008 previously installed on the computer. VS 2008 freezes no matter which version 32b or 64b is installed. I have tried it on a clean install and in an upgrade from Office 2007 to 2010 32b - same results. You can open VS, then you can open the WEB site and on the next step when you try to open a file in design, editor mode it stucks.

The issue has been solved by installing first Office 2010 and then VS 2008.

Same prob, also on win7 RC :s Help?

Does anyone know a way to have 2010 x64 and 2007 side-by-side? I know if you tried to upgrade from 2007 to 2010 x86, you had an option no to upgrade, but rather install it side-by-side. When you try to upgrade from 2007 to 2010 x64, it spits out an error about choosing the file from the x86 folder because you can't upgrade from x86 to x64, which is understandable. But that leaves you to uninstall 2007 in order to install 2010 x64 at all. I've tried to install 2007 after I installed 2010 x64 and it keeps erroring out with an unexpected error.

The only reason I need 2007 at all is for Outlook 2007. Google calendar sync and itunes don't recognise Outlook 2010, and this leaves me without a calendar and without syncing my iphone. I know it's a Tech Preview, so I highly doubt Google Calendar Sync or iTunes will release fixes until the Office 2010 RTM, and even then, I'm sure it won't be for a while after that.

If anyone knows a way it'd be greatly appreciated; I don't want to have to go back to 2007, but I'm afraid I might have to :(

Either that, or if someone knows any reg hacks or something to trick Google Calendar and iTunes into thinking it's actually Office 2007 that would work too haha :p

If you do an upgrade from 2007 -> 2010, the software will use your old 2007 key and you will have no expiration date. Not sure if you can activate it with a 2007 key if you install a clean install (there should be an activation option somewhere in the menu afaik if you did a clean install).

2007 keys don't work with a clean install on 2010 :(

Tried a Professional Plus and Ultimate key and they are 'invalid keys'
