Indeed. A pre-order perk being early access to a DEMO just seems odd to me. I'm not sure why companies or customers like it. But I digress that I don't get a lot of things people do.

Agreed, It also makes zero sense to me is I was always under the impression a demo is to help try and convince people to actually buy the game. We live in different times I suppose.

You can still play the demo later on in November apparently. Still at least Valve do decent pre order bonuses, like, discounts on the price. Rather than other publishers methods of locking content ON THE ****ING DISC and making you pay for it if you bought it late or second hand.

Hi Forza. Ignorant console owners to thank for that I guess.

Hype sells games a lot better than Demos. Players play a demo, if they don't like it they wont get it, if they did like it there is the possibility that they play the Demo so much that they tire of the gameplay and decide not to buy the game.

This is why a lot of developers have decided not to do Demos until the game has actually launched, in the case of valve they are willing to give it to people who already ordered it, that way they wont lose any sales and anyone who was on the fence might pre-order just to get early access. They are very clever.

Makes me think about Gamestop's crappy pre-order unlock codes for weapons, cars, etc...

Vice, can people cancle a pre-order on steam (before release date) if they dont like the pre-order demo?

Has anyone played the 360 demo yet? I believe codes are been sent out to people who pre ordered, or you can download and burn it to a DVD-R.

The demo lets you play locally with bots or co-op on Xbox Live.

I love the melee weapons, I don?t think the chainsaw is in the demo though!:shiftyninja:a:

When does the demo hit on the PC?

I just pre ordered it today, figured it was better to spend $45 on it and also the option of Mods just once again makes the PC version the better deal, just as I felt with L4D. I will rent it for the 360 to play with my friends who also have it, but definitely feel this is a better game on the PC. But I have the demo on PC preloaded already, so just wondering when I can check it out.

Valve seriously needs to fire the retards in charge of coordinating releases. This crap happens all the time whether its demos or final games. the set reckless release dates and try and do all the work to get it out on day of release.

They should have it all completely setup days before release and than people would praise them for releasing on time early rather than this outrage everytime their pre-orders are inevitably delayed for hours/days on steam.

SUPPOSED to be 8pm gmt today but it keeps getting delayed

Cool thanks. Will see what happens but if it comes out at that time then I will be checking it out tomorrow then. Oh well. Thanks again.

I have just accepted the fact I will have to check out the PC demo tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm not pre-ordering from them again.

Well the one main thing with the pre-order, and the reason I did it, was 10% off is 10% off, that is the way I viewed it. And no tax is a good thing as well.

I don't know what happened, I was really hyped about it, right until they made it available for purchase, then I just thought "Ehh, I can wait a while".

Apparently the Australian version sucks though, there's no gore and the bodies instantly get removed (Which is strange really, I haven't seen other FPS games get those kinds of restrictions)

i guess thats one of the big reasons theres a modding scene for l4d ... well in this case if there wasnt such a big reason, there is now

Ouch! That sucks for Aussie gamers. Anyway, I went ahead and pre-ordered it. :ermm: The new Left 4 Dead campaign (Crash Course) brought back some good memories. Now, I'm going to try my best to convince my friends to buy it too.

Looks like the PC demo is available now. I see a couple of my friends playing "Left 4 Dead 2 Demo".

Thanks for the heads up. I am calling it a night soon and already had myself convinced I would not be playing it tonight, I will check it out tomorrow.

Australians are really missing out, the new gore engine is amazing.

Here is a comparsion version for you all to see if you wish to see how crappy the Australian copy is...

deeeefinitely will be trying to get an import/workaround, it's just not even entertaining knowing what i'd be missing out on

(i also love in the clip they just stop comparing and just play the uncensored copy cause it's actually interesting)

    • Wow, Microsoft IS cooking lately... This only shows that they COULD improve, they just chose not to for whatever reasons. That obsession with AI was destroying them from the inside out.

It supports magnet links, .torrent files, resume data, sequential downloading, per-file priorities, and even imports from qBittorrent. Power users benefit from integrated RSS auto-download with regex filtering, duplicate detection, and automatic tracker lists from Stremio. Streaming is seamless thanks to auto-detected players like VLC and IINA. BATorrent includes robust VPN tools—interface binding, auto-detection for WireGuard-based services like Mullvad and NordLynx, kill switch, proxy support, and IP filtering. A full WebUI enables remote control, while integrations with Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby automate library updates. It closes the remaining gaps with qBittorrent and fixes the Windows settings/tray/splash issues several of you hit. Fixed Settings now actually save. A whole class of preferences — speed limits (and the alternative limits), max active downloads, seed ratio, listen port, max connections, DHT/uTP/encryption, VPN interface, kill switch and proxy — weren't being persisted and reset to defaults on every launch. They now round-trip correctly. (Thanks to everyone who reported "the upload limit always goes back to 0".) Splash and tray toggles stick on Windows. Turning off the startup animation (or "close to tray") no longer reverts — the Windows registry stored these booleans as integers and the UI was misreading them. Close-to-tray hint. The first time the window hides to the tray you get a one-time notification, so the app doesn't look like it vanished (Windows 11 tucks new tray icons into the overflow). macOS Dock icon size. The icon filled its canvas edge-to-edge and rendered larger than neighbouring apps; it now uses the standard safe-area padding. Native file picker language. The "Torrent file / All files" filter in the open dialog follows the app language instead of being hard-coded. Added — qBittorrent parity Alternative speed limits toggle — a turtle button in the toolbar flips your throttled limits on/off instantly, independent of the scheduler. Follow system theme — switch light/dark automatically with the OS (Settings → Appearance). Pre-allocate disk space — reserve the full file size up front to reduce fragmentation (Settings → Downloads). Recheck data on add — optionally force a hash check when adding a torrent, so existing or partial files on disk are detected. Port status indicator — a 🔴 dot in the status bar shows whether your listen port looks reachable (UPnP/NAT-PMP + listen state; fully local, no external check). Add torrent from URL — File → Add torrent from URL (Ctrl+U) fetches a remote .torrent and routes it through the normal add dialog. Export .torrent — right-click a torrent → Export .torrent to save its metadata file. Already there (in case you missed it) Watch folder — auto-add .torrent files dropped into a monitored directory (Settings → Files). This release just surfaces it. Incomplete files already carry a .!bt suffix until they finish. Under the hood Regression tests for the settings-persistence and Windows boolean bugs. A new Qt Quick Test harness covering the startup splash and the design-system widgets. • Disabling open on hover, great! That was so stupid! They need to do a fix, where if a network share is disconnected, it doesn't hang when opening "This PC" for 20 seconds.
