"?US: Windows 7 Home Premium ($49.99) and Windows 7 Professional ($99.99)"

I like the preorder pricing but are those the full or upgrade versions?

That starts tomorrow, on Microsoft's online store. So you might have to wait to then to figure it out. I'll check that out, because that $50 might just be upgrade:cry:y: .

Preorder Windows 7 cheaply

In select markets, Microsoft is offering its customers the ability to preorder Windows 7 at a significantly reduced price. This is easily the most aggressive pricing Microsoft has ever offered for Windows. The low preorder price will vary per country:

* US: Windows 7 Home Premium ($49.99) and Windows 7 Professional ($99.99)

* Canada: Windows 7 Home Premium ($64.99) and Windows 7 Professional ($124.99)

* Japan: Windows 7 Home Premium (?7,407) and Windows 7 Professional (?14,073)

* UK: Windows 7 Home Premium (?49.99) and Windows 7 Professional (?99.99)

* France and Germany: Windows 7 Home Premium (?49.99) and Windows 7 Professional (?109.99)

The deal includes select retail partners, such as Best Buy and Amazon, as well as the online Microsoft Store. This program begins Friday, June 26 in the US, Canada, and Japan. It goes on while supplies last or until July 11 in the US and Canada, and until July 5 in Japan. For the UK, France, and Germany, the preorder starts July 15 and runs while supplies last or until August 14.

Nice pricing.

Off topic: Why doesnt Microsoft offer people to de-activate Windows in case they need to reinstall or move their licence to another computer?

Couldn't you just call ms if the activation fails? I've had to do it numerous times and have never had an issue. (aside from trying to understand the guy on the other end).

Here is how that works with Vista, not sure yet about how that will work with Windows 7. That info will be out before 7 is in your hands.

Sorry forgot the link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-v.../licensing.aspx

It's really should'nt be needed, calling Microsoft overseas to activate? Since Apple can do this with iTunes I'm pretty sure Microsoft can and should do it with Windows. :p

So wait Windows 7 Home Premium FULL, NOT upgrade, but FULL will be 50$ if i buy it tomorrow?

If so, you sir are my hero! And I shall buy it tomorrow!

Pretty poor pricing, $49.99 = ?30.75 and $99.99 = ?61.48, so yea..

Many people would balk at having to sign in to activate Windows. :) iTunes Music Store is an account.

    • AFAIK you shouldn't be getting a consent popup at all from Canada, so I think it is to do with a VPN or private/secure DNS.
    • From what I see it's only for Insider - preview builds. Not for everybody. So...
    • Of course, all of that sounds great on paper... No it doesn't!
