Smallville Season 9

Good episode, except they make Clark look like an utter wuss as usual.

Can someone explain to me why Clark couldn't take down icicle jr on his own?

In that big fight all he did was use his heat vision. They seem scared to show Clark using his powers at all this series - are they running low on budget or what?

I noticed that too. For a show that's supposed to be about young superman, Clark sure doesn't seem to use his powers much. He spends more time playing reporter than he does as a superhero. They probably are running low on budget, I noticed they don't even show Clark running at super-speed anymore, all they do now is play the 'whoosh' shound-effect then blow a fan at chloe's hair.

I think it's a telltale sign that the show's going downhill when the best episode they've had in a long time had almost nothing to do with Clark.

Sounds like a reasonable assumption. Yet it could just be they want to build up more of the new characters now, then get back into Clark/Superman...and so forth.

At the end of the episode, before she shoots Icicle and tells him "Welcome to the Suicide Squad", she mentioned that the "apocalypse" is coming. The night of Absolute Justice's debut, Geoff Johns, who wrote both parts of the event, confirmed on his Twitter account that that mentioning had a direct link to the Superman villain, Darkseid. Meaning she was talking about either the planet, Apokolips, where Darkseid reigns as the ruler or about the event in which Darkseid will try to take over Earth and make it his next Apokolips, like in the comics.

Wow, what a horrible episode. Seriously, why were Clark and Zatanna wasting their time trying to find the kid if she had a spell that could revert him back to normal from a distance? I think the most interesting thing in this episode was seeing XBOX Natal in action, which doesn't say much for the show.

Considering the way Doomsday was handled I honestly could really care less if Darkseid showed up on Smallville now. They just don't have a very good track record when it comes to the comic villians and all. Even Lex's story got screwed up and muddled imo especially the last couple of seasons he was on. Oy.

Well the last episode is one of the crappiest episodes I have ever seen of Smallville. But this is when you have to remember...It is just a TV show.

Maybe one decade, TV will be the old way of watching entertainment, and services similar to YouTube will come alive on the Internet. The Internet is so powerful now-a-days, and more mobile technology is being designed to be 1080p capable. I wouldn't be surprised if TV was just put out, and better entertainment could be found on the Internet. My point is, maybe one day we will have a successor to the usual entertainment found on TV. Movies like Avatar always have good fights and have great eye candy because of the budget they have and the great people who make them. TV shows will always be junk compared to those great movies, maybe something will succeed TV though and would be viewed on any Internet-capable device. The successor would have great quality in every aspect you could compare it to TV entertainment. Maybe that new trend would spark new ideas. Look at Avatar, it made so much money, and one of the top results on Google is what is the best way to watch it.

Until then though, Smallville is just a TV show folks, and as far as the action goes, it is currently quality vs. quantity. You have to choose whether you want a quality-presentation, or a large quantity of it sacrificing the quality. Like I said though, until what happens above occurs and a new trend arises, this is it. Smallville is quantity more than anything, they are going for 10 years now...

dr. fate mentioned something about lex inabsolute justice, maybe a hunting of a season 10 storyline.I miss the days of colourful smallvilll, this show has been sadly lacking the essence of what made smallville great through the early seasons.

^ I thought so, I too miss the old episodes where lex would be there after something happens and question clark and then they'd stare at one another for a bit. Lex and Clark had some great scenes together back then. There doesn't seem as much tension between characters since seasons 1-5. Things are getting more cheesy and a little like L&C. I hope Lex does return, maybe that'll inject more coolness into the show.

Well Michael R. said he won't come back until the final episode(s) of the series. Now of course, if they throw a metric ton of money his way, I'm sure he'd change his mind but I seriously doubt he's gonna come back for anymore than a couple episodes (maybe 3 at the most, 4 is really pushing it).

Plus, even though they technically "finished" the storyline with Clark and Lana (and it really blew), I wouldn't mind seeing her come back for a visit to be honest.

As long as they don't kill off Chloe though, if they do I'm done with the show lol

The last episode was alright, except for the ending. I don't normally say this but the way Tom Welling acted was bad. The same goes for Erica Durance. And that guy that just came out of nowhere for the kiss. :/

We need to remember Quality is Subjective. I for one, amoung many to MOST core fans feel Smallville is at the BEST this season overalll. Last episdoe may or may not be a good episode, but this Season so far RULED! And, that's also a subjective opinion.

Polls have been done, many threads been made. That's what MOST core fans said and I Agree!

But looking at core fans reactions to this season, I am pleased with my opinion on that! :)

As you said, quality is subjective, and sadly the quality of the last few seasons just hasn't matched the previous seasons. Storylines like Doomsday should have rejuvenated the show, but its the same old dog these days. I've currently rewatching the early seasons, when it was bright, vibrant and people actually smiled, chloe was just normal, life was simple. When the show made the big move to 99% Metropolis, its dark and dank. Sure, we're seeing more of our favourite DC characters, but at what cost? Limited storyline progression, substandard acting and kinda-Clois (are they, aren't they?).

I'm hoping if Michael returns for a 10th season, it will return it to its glory and go out with a bang. And for god sakes, he needs to fly.

Yep and he needs his proper superman costume....the long black jacket and rough looking S make him look like some wannabe hero and not superman. Things need to get a move on and clark needs to kick some butt.

Budget limitations are certainly hurting the show. Hardly any of the nice early Smallville effects (him running, jumping, etc. [remember all that flying about he did as Kal-el]). The black costumes, the limited number of locations etc. For CW's highest rated show, you would have thought they'd pump a bit more green into it.

Its defiantly one of the better seasons, especially when there is less Clark and Lana drama. Yeah the show is on a low budget and it defiantly would be nice if the show had more money, but it still has its good moments. I am just curious as to how much longer they can drag out Clark not flying or becoming Superman, Tom Welling is starting to look pretty old for a young Clark Kent. I do enjoy this show, but at some point he is going to have to man up and become superman.
