Liverpool were very very lucky today, the game turned when the ref (You was bloody crap by the way) sent off Ward even though there were near enough no touch to who ever went down (Dive). Also why is it whenever Wolves touched any Liverpool players the card was out yet Steven Gerrard did 2 worse tackles and he doesn't get a card? Are refs not allowed to book him or something?

Lets face it you wasn't going to beat us with 11 players so you had to get 1 of ours sent off that was evident when all the Liverpool players (including Reina who had run 80 yards up pitch) surrounded the ref (correct me if im wrong but isn't that meant to be a bookable offence these days?).

Gerrard's goal was also in fact a foul on Milijas. Don't believe me then look at photo evidence: Fouling Git

I'm glad to see you started your first XI against us, I guess it is just Alex Ferguson that McCarthy tucks into bed every night.

Ward was sent off for two bookable offences, simple as really. As for the players surrounding the referee and assistant referee's, Andre Marriner should be thanking Reina on bended knees as he would surely be refereeing in League 1 next week if he had not rectified his original mistake.

Thanks for kicking Torres all over the pitch for 90 minutes by the way. It was an obvious ploy. It took you, what, 10 seconds of the match before you fouled Torres?

As for Gerrard, on one of the lunges he got the ball, it was a superb tackle. The other was a foul at most, and would have been a harsh yellow card.

Also, if you think Gerrard fouled your defender in the build up to that goal then I fear for the football knowledge of the average fan.

Take another look.

I suppose you think a double footed lunge (which Gerrard did btw) isn't a sending off offence or stamping on someone's ankle well after the ball has been played. As for your contact sport remark lets remember that next time you complain about getting kicked all over the pitch.

Martyn has already covered the lunge point, so let me just tell you this:

When a man jumps, his arms go up to get more leverage into his jump, it is actually simple physics. Unless he is actively leaning on a defender (which he wasn't) then it isn't a foul.

Yeah, having one of England's key players injured before the World Cup would be so good for the team

Just another childish and jealous little kid that can't accept that his team got beat fair and square. And lets just say this, at least my team will be playing Premier League football next year, so I hope you enjoy your one year of glory before you return to the mediocrity of the first division ;)

well done arsenal. hope cesc's hamstring wont take him out too long again. it's amazing how one player adds so much spunk to a team. traore is also starting to be a bit less worrying to watch. fair play to aston villa though, you guys kept up a good 1st half.

There aren't many English fans who like Gerrard anyway and key player? all he does is dive hell he even did it against part timers Andorra that says alot odesn't it.

Rather be a yo-yo club than spend year after year deluding myself we deserves to be Champions (Now theres a joke in itself). I'd sooner put up with the Mancs (both teams) being Champions than your lot. As for Jealous why would i be jealous of your tin pot club who struggles badly without 2 certain players.

BTW Frank did you go Yesterday?

Slanging match a side i hope you have (not Liverpool ;) ) a good New Years.

Ah well it's over with all I've got to say is I will be very very happy if Gerrard has a serious injury before the World Cup.

I don't really give two ticks about England anyway. I'd rather Gerrard have a summer of rest.

Fabregas was immense today in the 25 minutes or so he was on the pitch. Honestly, I would rather Arsenal win the league than Man Utd or Chelsea, but Arsenal have the history of throwing it all away...

i cant argue otherwise as an arsenal fan. not aiming to bring up the money-brought-title wars again but i'd have liverpool or man u win the title rather than...

anyway as much as arsenal play wonderful football (on days like these), you'd have to wonder how would they attract top notch players if they end up without silverware for too long a period of time (plus the fact that we cant/dont splurge).

All you are really doing is just proving that you are another mindless fan who knows very little about football, if you want to see a diver, watch Drogba, Gerrard isn't a patch on him. And lets put it this way, Liverpool are going to be champions again a long time before wolves are, so I guess the last laugh is on me? And you may not see Gerrard as a key player, but obviously the selectors do because he gets picked for every game, and for the record, why aren't the England selectors queuing at Wolves door to see all their potential England talent... Oh wait, there isn't any, silly me.

Game was very good to watch and Cesc was sensational.. next comes our trip to Fratton Park.. as I said a great chance for us to come within a point of Chelsea and mount some pressure on them with African Cup coming up Chelsea will lose some key players like Drogba, Essien, Geremi, Mikel and Kalou.. we will miss Song most of all but we can cover for him but 1 purchase.. Veloso or Rodwell I prefer.. great chance for us to bring our first league trophy to Emirates..

I was reading about Wenger's view about a lack of silverware yesterday. Thought this was a pretty good article on the situation actually, don't know if you have seen it...

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes his crop of young players can become a dominant force in both England and Europe.

Wenger has developed a production line of talent at Emirates Stadium and the Frenchman says his current squad can become one of the best teams on the continent.

The Gunners have not won a trophy since 2005, but Wenger has overseen the rise of some gifted players, including the likes Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott.

And the ability on offer at Arsenal has lead the Frenchman to believe his players can better the achievements of his unbeaten title winning side of 2004 - providing they can stick together.

Wenger told the Daily Telegraph: "I hope that this squad will still be together in five years and they will dominate Europe and the league in England. At 21 or 22 you start to be a man.

"When you are younger, it's hard to stand up against a man but when you are that bit older you start to do that.

"People forget they are an average age of 22. What they do is remarkable. I'm convinced they have the potential to be my best team and what they do now confirms what I think."

Obstacle

Wenger's faith in youth was shown in his side's Champions League clash with Olympiakos, where he included 10 teenagers in a squad that were narrowly beaten 1-0.

Carlos Vela, Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey all featured in the defeat to the Group H runners-up and the Arsenal boss reckons his charges can begin to pick-up silverware with more experience.

He highlights the 2007-08 season where the Gunners fell just four points short of champions Manchester United - but says just one triumph can kick-start another period of success in the club's history.

That means the 60-year-old will stand by his youth policy, despite failing to pick up silverware since an FA Cup triumph nearly five years ago.

"When you have never won, the most difficult is to win the first trophy," he added. "Once you are convinced you can win, the rest becomes easier because you relax a little bit.

"To win at the top level is a good mixture between being relaxed and focused. Experience is an obstacle.

"In 2007 we were close to winning the title. I'm confident we can use the experience of 2007 to overturn that."

I was reading about Wenger's view about a lack of silverware yesterday. Thought this was a pretty good article on the situation actually, don't know if you have seen it...

yeah. but sometimes reading through a lens of a longtime arsenal fan, you can't help feeling like "it's the same ol story again".

i'm supportive of teams who provide opportunities to the youth and for an awesome team like arsenal to have an academy training the youths, there's nothing more you can ask for. It's awesome to have a club put on their youngsters in a carling cup or champions league match. On the other hand however, it'd be challenging for a young player to want to join a club that does not really achieve much silverware, not in the long run anyway. It'd be dangerous for us to have a training academy and have youngsters leaving the club when they've acquired certain experience - although i dont negate these things are part and parcel of game transfers. a game of balance i suppose.

Not our best game, but we won. And the chase is still on.

Very good game from Fabregas btw, maybe the only player in the EPL I would love to see in our squad.

Rooney's pass was absolutely sublime though (Y)

Berbatov is such a skillful striker and proves he can score many goals but I just think he struggles to fit in with the Man Utd way of doing it, and that's life, not every single world class player can be a world class player at every club.

I really do think the likes of a Villa would boost Man Utd. We need another Van Nistelrooy, even although Rooney is doing well with the goals this season, as a striker big Van would finish absolutely everything, he was awesome.

Van Nistelrooy was a machine, a robot programmed to score. I don't think we necesseraly need another like him, and I don't really like Villa to be honest. The question of another striker can be resolved after this season, whatever the result of it. Right now it's our defense wich I'm concerned.

Few will miss Mikel,no-one will miss Kalou and Geremi moved to Newcastle a couple of years ago.Essien has been injured for a month or so the player we will miss big time is Drogba. You may want to add Anelka to that list who's injured and will stay our for 3 weeks.

Good results for both Arsenal and the Mancs,if we continue this way we should bid farewell to the title, not to mention the Champions League.1 match won in the last 7(!!!).

For me, Wenger's words sound like a PR exercise from a manager who knows he simply no longer has the resources to do the job, but I personally give a lot of credit to what Arsenal are doing with what they have, they are a talented group of players, but In the next couple of years, clubs like Chelsea and Man City will keep coming to the for, clubs that can spend their way to success, and unless Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal can secure the same levels of funding, I feel they may eventually end up on the back burner somewhat. Personally I am just hoping for the day that the FA overhauls the regulations to prevent clubs spending like they are at the moment, it isn't healthy for the sport, success should be earnt not brought, and it is putting a lot of teams on the brink of financial disaster.

I see what Wenger is trying to do with keeping a lot of faith in the youth. But you gotta realize that with RVP out, we need at least a temporarily replacement. I don't know, I just think Eduardo isn't as consistent as he needs to be to be Arsenal's main goal threat.

And Cesc is fantastic. What, 2 goals in under 30 min on the pitch? he was like in and out. Did his duty then left.

Let's hope his hamstring problem will be gone by the time their next two games come up. We need him.

I just think Eduardo isn't as consistent as he needs to be to be Arsenal's main goal threat.

Agreed, although I feel that is negated by the fact that Arsenal seem to be able to creat goals from so many other sources, for me their biggest weakness is defensive in nature, not attacking. Going forward, youth is great because it injects pace, but at the back you need a mix of experience and youth.

That's exactly what Gallas and Vermaelen are, a mix of youth and experience, and Sagna isn't quite a newcommer anymore. Arsenal only problem for me is the depth of the bench. When key players are injured a top team should be able to be as good as with them. At the moment they seems to do it quit well.

    • Apple has clarified Series 9 was left off the watchOS 27 compatibility list by mistake.
    • Signal accuses UK government of using child safety as cover for mass surveillance by David Uzondu Recently, the UK's Home Office announced a sweeping set of proposals to make Britain the "first country in the world" where children cannot share or view nude photos on their smart devices, an initiative that authorities claim will protect children from online predators and combat pornography. In response, Signal believes that while the government must keep children "safe" and "protected," it should do so through social services and education, not by "surveillance, funding cuts, and cover-ups." The company called the plan "dystopian" and warned that it violates everyone's fundamental right to privacy, arguing that scanning on the presumption of nudity will only strengthen the market dominance and data control of giant corporations like Apple and Google. The statement continues by accusing the government of hiding its true intentions under the guise of child safety. Signal argues that the Home Office is building an invisible surveillance infrastructure that remains ripe for exploitation by future administrations and authoritarian regimes. According to the company, this aggressive approach completely ignores the actual needs of young people, such as properly funded schools and mental health services. Tech companies like Apple and Google have a three-month window to implement these mandatory device-level filters across the United Kingdom. If these tech firms refuse to comply with the mandate, the government will pass emergency legislation to force them to comply, threatening massive fines and even going after the CEOs of these companies with criminal charges. The technology will work by blocking explicit images directly on the operating system of all smartphones and tablets by default. This system monitors the device camera and third-party apps to intercept nudity before anyone can upload or send the image. Adults can still view explicit content, but only after completing a strict age verification check to unlock their devices. Several bodies like the NSPCC and Barnardo's praised the Home Office's decision, arguing that device-level intervention stops the cycle of grooming before it starts. The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) also supported the policy, claiming that tech companies can implement on-device checks "without threatening privacy or collecting any data."
    • Did you watch the keynote? It is way beyond what is described in this article. Looks interesting. Now it is time for them to deliver unlike what happened in 24.
    • It pretty much has to be compatible with MS Office or it is going nowhere. The rest of the world runs office including Europe. If it is not compatible it will not survive.
    • Incredible deal gets you free NVMe 512GB SSD with AMD AM5 B850 motherboard for only $150 by Sayan Sen Earlier this week we covered the story of an interesting PC case wherein you can build two full-size computers inside it as in it can house and run an AMD and an Intel system simultaneously. Speaking of building PCs, these are hard times to make one for sure as prices are often very high except during flash sales or discounts. If you are in the market for a 1080p gaming PC then Nvidia's 8GB RTX 5060 Ti is currently on sale for just $330 and you get the latest James Bond game too, for free. Speaking of which, right now there is another incredible sale going on as we can get a free 512 GB NVMe SSD from TeamGroup in the form of the G50 alongside the purchase of an AMD B850 socket AM5 motherboard for only $150 (purchase link under the specs table down below). Getting an AM5 motherboard now in 2026 will be a wise investment for sure, especially since AMD confirmed its commitment to support the socket till at least 2029. The MSI PRO B850M-P WIFI is a micro-ATX motherboard that is compatible with AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors. Since it is AM5, the motherboard works with DDR5 memory and includes MSI’s Memory Boost technology, along with EXPO and XMP support. Connectivity features include built-in Wi-Fi 7 paired with a 5G LAN solution. The board offers a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot with MSI’s EZ M.2 Shield Frozr II thermal solution, that is said to help maintain SSD performance by providing ample cooling against overheating.
