Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson: "I hope this defeat doesn't cost us the league - we need defenders back to go for the league and the quicker the better. We're working overtime to get them back but there's no light at end of tunnel at moment, that's for sure. The players are feeling a little bit sorry for themselves at moment."

....it's just another 81 minutes until Manchester City confirm they have sacked Mark Hughes.

yeah just read a blog entry where it said that Mark Hughes clapped the crowd and walked to the 4 corners and applauded the fans and he was told not to give a post match interview.

Wonder after wining today if it will help Hughes? The one I am pleased about is the Villa result, the lads are on a good run!

Rumours about him being sacked started long before the match even started and based on his reaction after the game it was obvious it was/is his last game.

Love all the Mancs that were laughing at Liverpool today...

...then they get turned over 3-0 themselves...

Ahhhh!

Playing someone who is doing well in Europe and the league with only 1 real defender the on the pitch is slightly different to playing the club at the bottom of the league with a mostly first team playing :p

As for our defence (or what's left of it), it's obvious that Fletcher / Carrick can't play there (was obvious against Wolfsburg just they didn't take the numerous chances). We need to survive the rest of December and get a recognised defender in on loan for a month or 2 to tie us over until we get a recognised back 4 for starters. From there we'll be able to re-jig the team and have some form of rotation to keep players fresh.

Just announced on R5 Mark Hughes and his whole backroom staff sacked!

Manchester City have sacked Mark Hughes after less than 18 months in charge and have named former Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini as his successor.

News of Hughes' departure came via a statement, issued just two hours after the 4-3 home win over Sunderland.

The Welshman had been appointed in June 2008, replacing Sven-Goran Eriksson.

But despite spending heavily on the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Joleon Lescott and Carlos Tevez, results have not satisfied City's ambitious owners.

City currently lie sixth in the Premier League, having lost just twice in the league all season, and are through to the semi-finals of the Carling Cup.

They beat league leaders Chelsea a fortnight ago, ending a run of seven successive draws in the top flight, but suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat at Tottenham in midweek.

Now, despite a thrilling victory over Sunderland, Hughes finds himself out of work, axed by owner Sheikh Mansour and chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak.

Under the 46-year-old Welshman, who had spells as manager of Wales and Blackburn before arriving at Eastlands, City won 36 and lost 25 of 77 games. Of their 16 draws, eight of them came in their last 11 Premier League outings.

They also spent close to ?200m on players during his 18-month reign, including a record-breaking British transfer fee of ?32.4m on Robinho.

They also paid out heavily for Gareth Barry (?12m), Roque Santa Cryz (?16m), Tevez (?25m), Adebayor (?25m), Kolo Toure (?15m) and Lescott (?22m).

Their spending would have been far greater had they succeeded with bids for England and Chelsea defender John Terry and Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o.

Mancini, 45, won 36 caps for Italy and spent the majority of his playing career at Sampdoria before a brief stint with Leicester City in 2001 just before he retired.

Another bad result today, and for Man United, getting turned over 3-0 by fulham should count as a pasting. Normally i'd lol at Man U losing, but if they keep losing the title race is just going to get one sided and boring. If they keep faltering, I can only hope that Arsenal can make it interesting.

I'm seriously hoping Arsenal doesn't screw this up. I'm glad that they went over Hull City today, by a good margin too. And Cesc needs to get uninjured.

I'll be irritated if Wenger doesn't buy in the transfer period. Losing RvP didn't do any good for Arsenal's title chances.

Referee should have given us 2 penalties but we've been through worse...

Average performance so far so I could say the Hammers deserve the lead.

Edit:We were just awarded one and I'm not sure whether it was legitimate

    • KillerPDF 1.4.2 by Razvan Serea KillerPDF is a lightweight, portable PDF editor for Windows built for users who want full control without subscriptions, installers, or telemetry. It runs as a single executable, making it ideal for USB use and field work. You can view PDFs with smooth PDFium rendering, navigate quickly with thumbnails, zoom, and shortcuts, and reorganize pages using drag-and-drop. It supports merging multiple PDFs, splitting documents, and extracting selected pages. KillerPDF also allows inline text editing with font matching to preserve the original layout, plus annotations like text boxes, freehand drawing, highlights, and reusable signatures. You can search full text, copy content easily, and print documents with flattened annotations. Designed as a free and open alternative to bloated PDF tools, it works fully offline on Windows 10/11 x64. No runtimes install. Everything needed is inside the EXE (targets .NET Framework 4.8, which ships with every supported Windows release). KillerPDF key features: High-quality PDF rendering via PDFium Edit PDF text inline (double-click to modify text) Page thumbnails and fast navigation with zoom and shortcuts Merge multiple PDFs into one Split PDFs and extract selected pages Drag-and-drop page reordering Font matching to preserve original document appearance Text boxes for notes Freehand drawing tools Highlight overlays with adjustable color, size, opacity Undo actions and clear per-page annotations Create, draw, and save reusable signatures Click-to-place signatures anywhere Full-text search with highlighted results Drag-select or Ctrl+A to copy text Print with annotations flattened Portable single-file app (~10 MB) No installer, no admin rights required No account, no telemetry KillerPDF 1.4.2 changelog: What's new PDF form filling. Interactive PDF forms now render their fields (text inputs, checkboxes, radio buttons) as live controls. Fill them in directly and save — field values are written back into the PDF. PDF outline (bookmark) navigation. A new OUTLINES tab in the sidebar displays the document's bookmark tree. Click any entry to jump to that page. The sidebar auto-fits its width to the longest entry on open and can be dragged wider; switching back to PAGES snaps to the pages-mode width. Fixed Page rotation no longer reverts after saving. Rotations applied via the sidebar context menu now persist correctly through the save pipeline. Copied text words were out of order on PDFs where glyphs are stored in non-reading order (Issue #66). Text extraction now sorts words by position and uses a dynamic line-grouping threshold so both drag-select and Select All produce correctly ordered output. PDFs with malformed or non-standard XRef tables now open in read-only mode instead of showing "Invalid entry in XRef table" and failing entirely. • The very fact that a TPM (v2.0 specifically which is part of the issue I suspect) is now a baseline for any supported Windows installation will naturally mean other vendors will start to leverage it as they know it'll be there. It's called progress, and it's always been the way. A TPM isn't a windows thing, it's just a module designed to securely store keys. Secure boot isn't a Windows thing (although MS are the TCA as I recall hence the upheaval this year as the 2011 certs expire), it's just a way to verify a bootloader is signed. Windows simply leverages them.
    • It's a local account with the ability to reset a password at a very base level. I really don't get the issue that gets whipped up around it But you do you
