Alan Wake PC "up in the air"

I am sick of devs promising pc versions then just going "nevermind no pc version" piracy is a **** excuse, an excuse is all it is.

I don't think selling a couple hundred thousand copies would make up for the cost of porting the game. Piracy matters.

If they are so worried about piracy they shouldn't be promising pc versions in the first place.

Also piracy doesn't necessarily = lost sales, you can't be sure that everyone who pirates it was going to buy it anyway.

I'm not arguing your first point, I completely agree. They shouldn't make promises they can't keep.

And of course piracy doesn't mean lost sales, but the truth is that PC games are not selling enough to be attractive to publishers, and piracy just makes things worse.

Money and ease - despite PC having superior performance and hardware, it's so much more coherent to develop for consoles, not having to deal with various issues that plague the other platforms.

its published by MS, so what can you expect from those snobs. they want to drive the RROD_Box sales.

let me just remind you all, this one article

Q: Which format is your priority in Europe? You have these big Xbox 360 titles such as Mass Effect, but they don't see release on the PC until six months after the console release. Why don't you go for a simulataneous treatment on these titles?

Peter Zetterberg: On a global scale the Windows Vista business is as important as our Xbox 360 business. But in Germany for example, we want more gamers to buy our Xbox 360. If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version ? because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360. On a global scale the PC is very relevant to us. And I would say that 90 per cent of the games that are pitched to us are on console. We're strongly perceived as a console publisher because we're the first-party publisher even though the Windows operating system is equally important to us. If we launched a Halo game on PC and 360 in Germany simultaneously, 80 per cent of sales would be on the PC. So we need to pick and choose our formats.

That response doesn't even make any sense.

They go on into more mindless rambling...

Q: So you're admitting that the Xbox 360 is the priority, because you don't want to lose console sales.b>

Peter Zetterberg: No, they're equally important. The PC has a much wider use, it's so established, it's so dominating already so in some territories we need to make the games for the 360 to increase the sales there.

..and they wonder why PC gamers want the RRoD_Box to rot in hell??"choose to play the PC version ? because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360."

Microsoft IS the BIGGEST ENEMY OF PC Games.

Games that are developed for so long time often risk being problematic when finally released. Changing directions and remaking engine, art and sometimes the whole game idea is not good. Especially when they are hyped to be something revolutionary in gameplay and blabla. Take for example Too Human, which did not live up to the hype.

Ah, this explains why it's so late. They've probably had to redo most of it since now the much-touted "advanced physics", seamless levels, and widescreen, panoramic FOV have had to been cut so the ****-Box can run the game.

this happened to bioshock which lived up to its hype

This angers me because I have been looking at this game for a couple years now and what? They aren't going to release it for the PC right away? I've been a PC gamer for a long time and this game seemed to be originally intended for the PC. Now they are going to make us wait to see how it does on the 360 before they even think about putting it on the PC. Messed up in my opinion.

You can probably scratch it off your list altogether now. If they're prioritising the 360 version then you can be almost certain that any PC version that comes out will be a crappy port. This game is dead to me now.

    • I made a new Cinematic/Trailer for the game, this will be the intro, still a work in progress!  I also updated the Steam page with a ton of new screenshots! 👀 https://store.steampowered.com/app/3925340/Incoherence_Dark_Rooms/
    • Closed-loop cooling and a custom 800G network protocol let the $7.3B campus run as one AI training machine. Microsoft confirmed June 23, 2026, that its Fairwater campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is fully operational — and the engineering behind it makes the facility something fundamentally different from every data center that came before it. Where conventional cloud infrastructure racks up general-purpose servers and parcels out workloads to each one independently, Fairwater links hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 Blackwell GPUs into a single, coherent cluster using a two-story building design, 800-gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabric, and a proprietary networking protocol co-developed with OpenAI and NVIDIA. The result, according to Microsoft, is the closest thing to a purpose-built AI supercomputer that any company has ever placed in commercial operation. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319205/20260627/microsoft-opens-fairwater-wisconsin-ai-campus-runs-one-supercomputer-via-800g-ethernet.htm
