Here is a free tool (source provided) to add unindexed network locations to Windows 7 libraries.

http://zornsoftware.talsit.info/?p=3

Features:

* Add network (UNC or mapped drive) and any other un-indexed folders to libraries.

* Backup library configuration, such that a saved set of libraries can be instantly restored at any point (like after a re-install of the OS or for transfer between multiple computers).

* Create a mirror of all libraries (using symbolic links) in [systemDrive]:\libraries. This means you can reference all your files using a much shorter path, and also provides another entry-point to your files in many places in the Operating System (e.g. file open/save dialogs).

* Change a library?s icon.

JumpLaunch. It is a simple program that can display quick launch shortcuts in a jump list. Just "pin" it to the taskbar and it is ready to use.

The Opera 10.50 pre-alpha has much improved Windows 7 support as well.

On Windows 7/Vista, you will notice a lot of visual changes and use of APIs which allow the UI to display the Aero Glass effect. For Windows 7, we also added Aero Peek and Jump List support to easily access your Speed Dials, Tabs, etc. from the Taskbar.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned. I just downloaded a pretty cool Windows 7 app called Connectify 1.0. (www.connectify.me) It turns your pc into a real Wi-Fi access point for free.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/win7stack/

This program is very much like 7stacks. You create a folder with shortcuts to programs and files. Then you use this program to create a shortcut and pin it to the taskbar. Click the icon and you get something like this:

dbimage.php?id=239578

(!!!) Make sure to create a System Restore point before using this software. It has bugs.

The current SPlayer (3.3) has W7 support, the actual icon i'm using in these screenshots isn't the default one.

ShellFolderFix

It's basically an app to make Windows 7 explorer folder windows remember their size and position. It has a couple of additional features too, and hopefully some more later on.

Hello Udedenkz,

Have you checked compatibility?

Just an FYI for you.

It is always best to check with the software manufacturer FIRST. They will tell you if they have tested the product and the version, as well as whether or not it will work with Windows 7.

Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility site: (There you will find out about hardware and software compatibility.)

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx

There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".

There are also some great articles, instructional videos and such to help with your Windows 7 at our Springboard site:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/default.aspx

In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu of Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%!

As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified drivers installed.

Thanks again,

John M.

7plus

Written in Autohotkey, 7plus is a project which tries to make working with Windows much more comfortable by adding features to explorer, window handling, and lots of other small tweaks. For example it allows you to quickly upload files to an FTP server directly from explorer with a single hotkey, navigate to your favorite folders with numpad keys, keep windows always on top, etc...
