[Official] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Free multiplayer weekend for this game starting Thursday at 4PM PDT. It says there is a preload for it but it doesn't work for me yet.

Unable to preload either, something nice to try over the weekend and I'll take it as a sign MW2 is the weekend deal ^.^ Hope its 40% or more =]

The weekend deal is the free multiplayer weekend as I understood it from reading the Steam forums. Activision is way to cheap to let their cash cow go on sale if it hasn't been out a year or more.

So apparently the Stimulus Package was downloaded 2.5 million times in one week: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/07/modern-warfare-2-stimulus-package-sells-over-2-5m-units-in-a-w/

Looks like we'd better learn to love our new $15 map packs.

Way to go, XBox gamers. I'm sure just enough PS3 and PC gamers will follow suit to **** it up for everyone.

Good, now pc gamers who wouldnt buy because of crippled multiplayer can try it for free this weekend to prove what a great decision it was to avoid this game.

Cute. No a trial, as the game has full functionality.

I wasn't trying to be cute. I was stating it was like a demo. It just so happens it's a demonstration of the MP portion of game for a very limited time. Where is the cuteness in it?

I thought they were saying free MP weekend, and I thought that meant you had the whole weekend to play online against others free, while it's normally a charge. I didn't think that was the case, so I asked what they meant.

$15 for a map pack is terrible.

All it shows is mainstream gamers have no comprehension of pricing, if you want you'll buy. That's pretty much all publishers hear nowadays (hello waves of plastic instruments/accessories at shocking prices).

The game with the first bend you over RRP bump everyone said others would follow, which they haven't, also has the most expensive map pack....

For some more on-topic discussion, I actually started playing the game again. Not because it has changed but because the selection of first-person shooters is pretty poor.

BC2 was alright for a while but all this vehicle combat BS and whatnot destroys the FPS aspect, it's just one big random battlefield of death. Then I'd much rather pick the game that doesn't

have vehicles; lesser of two evils basically.

Though, I only play with some mates and not alone as I used to, a lot more enjoyable that way - Even started playing (HC) HQ.

I really miss a "vanilla" FPS game, without vehicles, perks, killstreaks, bonuses, pick-ups, exploding barrels and cup of random and that's what I'm holding out for

every single day :p

    • Closed-loop cooling and a custom 800G network protocol let the $7.3B campus run as one AI training machine. Microsoft confirmed June 23, 2026, that its Fairwater campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is fully operational — and the engineering behind it makes the facility something fundamentally different from every data center that came before it. Where conventional cloud infrastructure racks up general-purpose servers and parcels out workloads to each one independently, Fairwater links hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 Blackwell GPUs into a single, coherent cluster using a two-story building design, 800-gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabric, and a proprietary networking protocol co-developed with OpenAI and NVIDIA. The result, according to Microsoft, is the closest thing to a purpose-built AI supercomputer that any company has ever placed in commercial operation. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319205/20260627/microsoft-opens-fairwater-wisconsin-ai-campus-runs-one-supercomputer-via-800g-ethernet.htm
