Halo Reach Thread

The patch today should removed scorpion from play. Should be Wraith's (4 minute respawn) on Hemmorage. Invasion still has scorpion's I believe.

I would prefer they leave the scorpion in and balance it another way.

Such as:

A rocket launcher spawn at each base with only 2 rockets (make em count).

Take away some vehicles, such as the revenant and one of the warthogs.

Bring back the gauss warthog.

Modify scorpion to have the open canopy of halo 1 to make snipers effective against them.

Slow down the rate of fire on the main cannon.

Reduce damage needed to destory with thrown grenades.

Plasma pistol charge disables cannon fire for a second or so as well as disabling vehicle movement.

Tweak spawns for more in-base spawning when enemies have vehicle control outside of your base as long as no enemies are entering your base to perform objective (CTF, assualt, etc).

Bottom line, it just comes down to the amount of vehicles on that map for me. There is too many, and not enough anti-vehicle weapons to balance it out.

^ The DMR, while a "modern" H1 pistol is underpowered for vehicle combat imo. The Scorpion needs to be modified and revenant (sp?) removed. It serves no balancing purpose as far as I can see.

The revenant is the anti-scorpion vehicle though, I have no problems taking down a scorpion with one.

I can't believe I got $50 for this on eBay!

Got my MoH money right there.

Really???

Then I am joining EBay tonight. Even if I can get $40, that would be awesome.

I liked SWAT when it was part of big team battle, but now i'm not enjoying it so much.

I played a couple of games this evening and both times ended up on a team of randoms against a team made up of a party all co-operating. The smaller team size seems to lend it's self to this unbalanced matchmaking.

We got slaughtered each time. :(

Gamestop is currently paying $40 for it

Nice thanks. Then actually I am off to Gamestop, makes my life a whole lot easier and I can definitely put that towards something coming out in the near future. I almost feel like I should beat the SP first, but I just do not feel compelled to do so, especially since I know I will be all about the SP in MoH come next week and right now I am more into Dead Rising 2 then Reach. So might as well strike while the iron is still hot and get a decent amount of credit back for it.

Well if you ever want to go back to finish the SP you can always just rent it from GF or even borrow my copy

Aight cool, thanks, I may definitely take you up on that offer eventually, as I imagine renting it from Gamefly is going to be near impossible for quite some time. So it is much appreciated.

Still a small part of me that is contemplating keeping it, but that is a very, very small part of me. Almost definitely gonna get the trade in while I can, and pretty sure I will put it towards Gran Turismo 5.

Considering he only reviews the SP aspect of games and not the MP, he was actually pretty reserved compared to his normal reviews. He definitely has a few zingers, and as Ironman pointed out his comment about Move towards the end is hilarious, but I really think he was very fair overall, then again I have not even beaten the SP yet, so MO is only based on what I have played thus far.

So your solution is "get there first"? That's not much of a solution.

Thats how it is in any game with pickup weapons. Not really sure what else to say.

About DMR's being weak, they aren't. They hurt most vehicles very well when multiple are being shot. A group of four can decommission a banshee in about 15 seconds if they just unload on the thing.

About the scorpion. I'm pretty sure it is three shots to get the kill total. Two for the canopy, one for the driver. May be wrong but that is how I distinctly remember it. Either way you can kill a tank pretty easily with anything but a sword and a shotgun.

Is that for the special edition or after some promo? According to the CAG thread its only $30. Either way I'll probably still trade it in or sell it somewhere, I just don't see myself putting much more time into this game.

I can post back tomorrow exactly what the trade in value, I plan on stopping on the way home from work. So will be a good 21 hours or so from now, but I can post back.

Not really. The solution in most games with vehicles is not "get to X weapon first."

I said with pickup weapons. Most shooters let you choose the weapon you want to start with. Have you not ever played a game of CS where the weapons are strewn on the map? It is all about knowing where it is and the fastest way to get there from where you are. Other examples of this gameplay, although definitely not the same thing entirely, are Quake and Unreal Tournament.

Just wanted to say thanks to Cupcakes for her video on the acheevo for taking over the Banshee. I used her video last night and I got it on the second try. I tried to get the assassination on an elite acheevo, and I couldn't get it for the life of me :(

That is tricky, it took me several tries (think 30-40) to get it. I used this video and as he says in that vid, I got it several times but no achievement! You gotta let go the sprint at the perfect moment, not right but perfect! :D

I guess another tip is that don't back up way too much when you start your jump. You will lose that time inbetween the run and jump if you know what I mean. I had to do over multiple times .. sometimes, I killed the Grunt instead of the Elite lol..

The revenant is the anti-scorpion vehicle though, I have no problems taking down a scorpion with one.

It's more than an anti-scorpion vehicle, it is a mini wraith on speed. Bungie had a similar vehicle planned for H1 though the passenger would have been in charge of the cannon, which instead of a splash damage weapon would have been a plasma turret.

Not really. The solution in most games with vehicles is not "get to X weapon first."

In all fairness that is how H1 was played: ghost rush to the rocket and then set a timer to wait for the rocket respawn. It is close to impossible to take down a H1 scorpion without significant concentrated firepower or if the tank isn't facing forward for that lucky sniper kill.

    • Never used the G7 Pro, but I've never had a good experience with that style of d-pad and fighting games.
    • And I just bought a seat cushion for my mesh chair. The chair feels nice but the first time I sat in it with boxers, I realized I don't like the feel of mesh on my legs. 😂
    • "This Dell 27 inch 4K 120Hz IPS monitor is really cheap after a very long time" ... Lol.
    • This Dell 27 inch 4K 120Hz IPS monitor is really cheap after a very long time by Sayan Sen Recently we covered a really good deal on an AMD RX 9070 three-fan model that's available at slightly above its MSRP. If you are looking for a GPU for 1440p gaming that's around the performance of the Nvidia RTX 5070 you should most definitely check it out. Let's say that you are looking for a monitor to pair that up with too. The Samsung 49" G9 curved QD-OLED superultrawide is a good option that can provide an immersive experience. However despite being a very good deal currently (at $855), it may seem unaffordable to you, or you may simply not want to spend as much on a monitor. In that case Dell's S2725QS can be a very good option as it's on sale at the moment for its lowest price in over six months (purchase link under the specs table down below). The big highlight of the Dell S2725QS is its 27-inch IPS panel with a 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD) resolution, offering a high pixel density that can make text appear sharper while also providing plenty of screen space for productivity and media consumption. The display supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz through both HDMI and DisplayPort, making it suitable not only for everyday desktop use but also for smoother gaming and scrolling. AMD FreeSync Premium support is included as well, helping reduce screen tearing during gaming sessions. The screen has fairly good brightness and color accuracy so you can use it for general work purpose, though photo/video editing is probably not going to be the best match for this. The technical specs of the Dell S2725QS are given in the table below: Specification Value Viewable Screen Size 27 in (68.58 cm) Screen Mode 4K UHD Maximum Resolution 3840 × 2160 Maximum Preset Resolution 3840 × 2160 @ 120 Hz Standard Refresh Rate 120 Hz Panel Technology In-plane Switching (IPS) Backlight Technology LED Edgelight System Pixel Density 163 PPI Response Time 8 ms GTG, 5 ms GTG, 4 ms GTG Horizontal Viewing Angle 178° Vertical Viewing Angle 178° Brightness 350 cd/m² (nits) Native Contrast Ratio 1500:1 Color Support 1.07 Billion Colors Color Gamut 99% sRGB (CIE 1931) Adaptive Sync AMD FreeSync Premium HDCP Support Yes Mount Type Panel Mount VESA Mount 100 × 100 mm Maximum Height Adjustment 13 cm Tilt -5° to 21° Swivel -30° to 30° Pivot ±90° Stand Adjustments Tilt, Swivel, Height, Pivot Glass Hardness 3H Horizontal Frequency 27–270 kHz (DisplayPort 1.4 / HDMI 2.1) Vertical Frequency 48–120 Hz (DisplayPort 1.4 / HDMI 2.1) Video Inputs 2 × HDMI 2.1 (HDCP 1.4 & 2.3), 1 × DisplayPort 1.4 (HDCP 1.4 & 2.3) Operating Temperature 0°C to 40°C Storage Temperature -20°C to 60°C Operating Humidity 10%–80% (Non-condensing) Storage Humidity 5%–95% (Non-condensing) Get it at the link below: Dell S2725QS 27-inch 4K 120Hz IPS monitor: $218.49 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) (Was: $280) Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified.
