Damn IT! I had a few chances and could of snagged a Code but I didnt because I thought the codes were for people who dont have ODST, not people that can get in on it early. BLAH!!!

But i have ODST, so ill wait till monday, this just means that anytime monday itll be available hopefully.

We should play some ODST before the beta comes out (Y).

So on may 3rd xbox-live may be broken? ...

Oh no, I KNOW they will be ready. I expect them to be. Them being microsoft and there engineers. Of course the numbers estimated will be probably under what is expect but oh well. I believe LIVE will handle this big release and then the actual game release. But we will see.

Razor: We shall play. 9pm CST and after im home today, tomorrow(sat) and sunday. Anytime you get on, message me on neowin, ill turn that box on.

If anyone does happen to have a spare I wouldn't mind them sending it my way either. Been really irriated that my one source for a possible F&F code has been offline for the past twelve days making it impossible to contact him.

How the hell are people entering codes so fast? "3 seconds ago via web" I copied and pasted less than 6 seconds and its already used. Are people giving away used codes just for followers on twitter?

Because Bungie notified the world about the codes being released, I'm pretty sure few hundred thousand bots were prepared for the event. 117 codes released on b.net were gone within a few seconds.

I'm giving away one extra code I have; Just check out the icupcake link in my sig and leave a comment in my latest post (as I'm picking from a random commentator.)

Oh and:

(HD is still rendering on this vid.. so just wait a bit to watch.)

Ohhh the torture.... :pinch: anyway I left you a comment on your blog

Its fun. Its better than Halo 3. I quit H3 two years ago because the ranking system was purely ridiculous. Win a bunch of games, loose 1 and go down a level...no thats bs. But Halo: Reach might actually get me to return to Halo. Really liking the beta, though do to only 2 maps and no arena the game gets boring really fast. Yesterday I played from around 2pm to 7pm straight, was super fun but then got super boring.

I haven't followed Reach, at all. Glad I saw this thread tho, gunna go read up. But one thing that has been on my mind that I do not understand. Halo: Reach is only matchmaking because that is what they want us to focus on. Yet in the Vidoc they wanted us to find glitches and try to break their game. Let me remind you that in Halo 3's beta, when we got the custom games thanks to a few people, that is all a lot of people did. Just played custom games. How many cool things did we find in customs as apposed to just matchmaking. All those glitches. Kudos to anyone who remembers being under water on Valhalla. Idk, I just would of really like to have seen Custom Games and another map or so in the Reach beta. Think it would of done a lot of good.

Vette, Bear in mind that you have early access (by a few days) to the beta so it's VERY limited. Monday is the official start of the beta and will also include two more maps into the rotation as well as other NEW gametypes :).

The only thing I can't remember reading (or I did and forgot) is whether or not custom games will be available with this beta. So far it's been playing pretty nice although I haven't been purposefully screwing around to find glitches--too busy trying to not die and win :p.

Is throwing a grenade different compared to Halo 3?

Watching the 2nd video, the shooting seems rough with the DMR. It does look like it will take some skill to get used too so hopefully the transition from BR to DMR is not as bad as it could be.

It might take a bit to get adjust to; I know I don't quite have the reticule position right for headshots just yet--My poor k/d in Team SWAT is evident of this.

If you expect the BR, don't. The DMR handles entirely opposite of the BR. It's almost akin to a pistol except it takes 4 shots versus the pistol's 5.

Ouch, I noticed you running with the pistol a few times but I can't recall if you actually took any shots with it. From your experience is more comparable to the Halo 1, 3, or ODST? Just curious about that. I like the flag, drop, catch, drop, catch tactic seems like it's still the fastest way from point A to point B.

EDIT: After watching again, you did shoot it off. It seemed a lot faster.

The pistol is better to be used after you bring their shield down from a nade. Then you can try to go for the headshot. I used it because I prefer more controlled bursts versus automatic/spray. I mean the AR is nice and all but I honestly hate it still. It's a bunch of bull****.

It's DEFINITELY more comparable to Halo: CE.

    • Very fitting name since AI users have air where there brains should be.
    • Yes, it was amusing at the time because even then dbrand was well known for stealing the designs of products from other companies. That’s what they do.
    • Didn’t Dbrand once complain that Casetify was ripping off their designs a well? seems pretty bad of them to try and get around Valve’s copyright this way with that in mind.
    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
