Halo Reach Thread

Halo 3's beta you had to glitch to get into custom if I remember.

haha yeah.. you did. But I've been unable to glitch to get it for Reach thus far.

I remember having to get a party together, have someone leave, invites you, you kick someone.. I can't remember. It was the most idiotic series of events you needed to get into custom games, lol.

No, they really dropped the ball on that :(. They should have kept in custom like they did with Halo 3's beta.

I can't get into any games with friends so I'm done until later. My friends list went from 20 people playing Reach to 6 people since majority were unable to connect properly (even those who had FnF code / beta.)

You do know theres a LOT of stuff missing in the Beta, because its a BETA, dont doubt bungie just yet.

@Munky: Nice. I went 14 - 6 last game.

Instead of trying to be patronizing, you can stop taking my post out of context. I said they really dropped on the ball [on the beta] by not including custom lobby. I'd say it's detrimental for those that are actually interested in messing around with the current maps and gametypes to try to find bugs and glitches to report them to Bungie.

That's the point of a beta. To beta test it. I'm not going to beta test with a bunch of other r-tards running around in matchmaking. I'd rather have a custom lobby to do that so YES, I think they dropped the ball by NOT including custom lobby.

That being said I'm still trying to glitch a custom lobby to see if it can be attainable like it was with Halo 3 with glitching.

I'm not doubting Bungie. Having been with this franchise since Halo: CE came out, I'd say it's safe to say that you don't know me nor my passion for Halo and/or Bungie. I'm just able to approach their games with logic versus bias.

They left out custom games cause they said they needed the test data, and all people did in H3 Beta custom was run around with plasma pistols and rockets at 10% gravity with 200% speed

EDIT:

Yeah I s'pose that'd make sense.

Takes a bit of getting used to now you need to watch the skies & for cloakers a lot more.

And yeah private matches will definitely be in the final game.

Edit: just added you Sikh

Alright, ill add you. Gotta clean up my friends list when I get home. Leaving for work. Ill be on 9pm CST.

sikh I shall have to hit up on this game to show that I don't suck at all games :p

Lol dude its cool. its SC, i wanna take TYREK on again lol. Im ready this time i believe

guys I'm in. hit me up.

Cool!

Really :o

Only around 1100 were playing this morning, crazy stuff! :D

Yeah ahaha.

Got ohme, downloaded it in 10-15 minutes and played.

Just got done at like 2:30 with 176k. JESUS.

Cant wait for tonight, its gonna be hell. We will probably be sold out of ODST used and new tonight.

Exactly....

@Cupcake: I wasnt patronizing you, i just it when people make acusations so early. Really? Ok your a passionate halo player, so am i. But at the same time, a BETA requires REAL TIME TESTING. Custom games is NEVER real time testing. Yeah sure you find a glitch, you find etc, BUT, I can see people abuse the hell out of it and not report it....

SO custom games ='s Secret hiding / camping spots OR public testing while in a game..

Honestly Live Data over Custom Data.

Sorry I don't really get you there..

What accusations was I making other then stating that they dropped the ball on including the custom lobby? Anyway, judging from your assumptions, you really don't grasp the fact that there are a plethora of legitimate people that enjoy looking for bugs and glitches to make the overall experience better versus using it to his/her own advantage.

Anyway, it useless to even reply to you. Go on thinking that people who want access to a custom lobby are because they want to find a camping spot.

In a nutshell, fine tuning the gaming experience includes reporting bugs/glitches/etc.

Why do you think MW2 could have done well with a beta? All of the glitches that were found after it's release truly ruined gaming experience for some people (eg: unlimited care package, javelin glitch, et al.) They patched up ANY bugs/glitches to make the gaming experience better.

Obviously you won't find ALL that might be there but at least the ones that are found can be resolved immediately.

Edit: Editing your post after I reply ftl :(. SP = Smashing Pumpkin?

I'm not saying that bugs & glitches aren't found during these betas, but they are not the purpose of them. That is what Sikh and I are trying to say.

These betas are for stat collection. Not even just related to how the game plays (like power of weapons), but collecting the data on people's broadband connections etc.

Halo 2 provided Bungie with a lifetime of details on glitches  That's why both H3 and ODST were pretty much perfect apart from the 1 or 2 glitches. In fact I don't even recall any problems with ODST's but that was pretty much a straight port of H3's MP anyway.

Edit: and yeah SP = Smashing Pumpkin.

If anyone gotta anything going and needs another, just shoot me a invite. And this from bungie.net"

"Yup, the backend servers are getting hammered.

We're aware and working to resolve slow matchmaking times and inaccessible playlists. As soon as we're back up and running at full capacity, we'll make some noise. Stay tuned for more information and thanks for your patience."

Just a note to people. It doesn't seem to be finding anyone in parties ATM games. Greeneye and I searched solo and both found games. :)

Well not so much found game as it found all the players and just as we were ready to go it kicked us all from the lobby  Going to go back and try again though :D

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
