Basically a bunch of cars behind Massa slowed down so much that they could enter the pits on the same lap safety car came out, whereas the Ferrari drivers had to pit the next lap by following the rules. And as Hamilton raced pass the safety car, only Ferrari (and the two cars that didn't stop) was behind the safety car at that time.

well that was unlucky of course, sometimes you just cant chose on which track position you are when the safetycar is deployed.

as domenicali said:

"On the sporting side, for me – I think we were on one side extremely unlucky. If you look, the only four cars that were on the main straight when the safety car was deployed were [sebastian] Vettel, Hamilton, Fernando and Felipe.

"Sebastian was able to be in front of the safety car, Hamilton was basically not respecting the yellow light on the safety car, and then we had one complete lap with our two cars behind the safety car and, in the meantime, starting from Button onwards, all the others were coming in.

as a ferrari fan i gotta say massa was the most unlucky driver - again! (after montreal).

he said with him it was only a few meters and he would still have made it to the pits, pitting 1 lap earlier than his team-mate and then he would have beaten him and finished a strong 3rd.

I'm glad Webber is alright, but why has no-one done the obvious:

post-92970-12777218609764.jpg

damn, I was gonna do that but you beat me to it.

So Hamilton overtook the car while it was still in the lane, so he didn't do anything wrong, didn't he? The bloody stewards showing their loyalty to Ferrari yet again.

and yes he did do something wrong, you can't overtake the safety car once it hits the white safety car line (its bout 50m before the end of the pit lane feed line, the 1 all the way across the track) the safety car reaches this line 1st so Hamilton can't overtake, and got a penalty, completely fair. Sucks but it was fair.

He slowed down just enough so the cars behind couldn't get past the safety car in time. You did notice how quickly the gap between Hamilton and Alonso decreased, right?

It looked like he hesitated and when he was alongside the safety car, his field of view doesn't allow him to see if he is ahead of the SC or in-line. A lot of people are looking into some sort of major wrong-doing here, but it could be very innocent. Alonso is just whining...again....

According to Autosport the penalty was "failing to stay above the minimum time set by the FIA ECU when the Safety Car was deployed.".

1st its not against the rules to go into the pits on the lap the safety car comes out, the Ferrari's Vetel and Hamilton were just unlucky enough to have passed the pit lane entrance when the SC was deployed

2nd you might want to check your sources

from the official F1 website

Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello, Nico Hulkenberg, Robert Kubica, Vitaly Petrov, Adrian Sutil, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Sebastien Buemi and Pedro de la Rosa have all received penalties from the Valencia stewards for safety-car rule infringements.

All nine men will have five seconds added to their final race time for speeding under the safety car during their in-laps prior to pitting following Mark Webber’s dramatic crash in the early stages of the European Grand Prix.

In a separate incident, Timo Glock has had 20 seconds added to his race time for ignoring blue flags.

The penalties mean Fernando Alonso moves up a place to eighth, with Buemi dropping to ninth, while Nico Rosberg picks up a point for tenth at the expense of De la Rosa.

so they were speeding on the way to the pits not going to slowly.

+1 the onboard camera shot it no where near what the driver can actually see (a lot less) Alonso couldn't even pass Buemi and Kobayashi overtook him! he was just plain slow.

Kobayashi had a fresh set of soft rubber.

yes he did and that added to it, but a works Ferrari should still be relatively fast even on older tyres to a Sauber with last years Ferrari engine.

...and Kobayashi was, quite frankly, awesome :D

yes he was, well done to him, defiantly driver of the day.

1) I didn't say that, I said they were going slower than Safetycar regulation allows, to be able to get into pit on the same lap safety car came out.

Also if they got speeding penalty, why didn't Hamilton, Alonso and Massa get that, because they were on the same lap and didn't slow down until before the pit exit (where the Safetycar came out), which is long after the finish line.

2) My source is Autosport, which has a quote from the ruling (it's in citation marks).

failing to stay above the minimum time set by the FIA ECU when the Safety Car was deployed

The Steward's report isn't available on FIA yet, but thats the only official source.

ok sorry, you kinda implied it but saying "whereas the Ferrari drivers had to pit the next lap by following the rules" i.e. the others didn't follow the rules.

I know autosport is normally a good source, but I'd take the official F1 website over autosport any day, you are correct that only the offcial FIA websites' report is going to be completely accurate, I did check that before the F1 website but as you said it's not up yet.

Autosport normally fixes errors in articles, but I can be wrong. Doesn't really matter now, it's not gonna change. In the end Ferrari where the ones that lost everything due to the safety car. Hamilton speed past and took a penalty later, which by then didn't affect his position. The cars behind them managed to pit on the same lap. Kobayashi didn't pit but he had hard tires so he could stay out until the very end.

Webber stuns onlookers in London

Mark Webber showed he is fully recovered from his crash in the European Grand Prix after roaring up to the gates of the Houses of Parliament in London on Thursday.

The Australian and his crew stunned onlookers on Parliament Square by driving his car on the streets of London, in an event to promote next week's British Grand Prix.

The team then proceded to complete a 3.2-second pitstop, according to Red Bull.

"Obviously, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity - it's not every day you get to see the sights of London from an F1 car," he said.

"This year has once again thrown up some interesting rule changes so any practice the team can get is going to make a difference, no matter where it is."

Jonathan Wheatley, Red Bull Racing Team Manager, added: "As a team, we practice and perform pit stops in all sorts of conditions around the world but this has been a really unique experience, one I imagine won't be repeated.

"We've only got a week to go before Silverstone so what better way to practice under pressure than outside the Houses of Parliament."

Dunno how they could become stunned when he was running so slow. ;)

Guess he obeyed speed limits or just ran slow due to security reasons.

Here is another video of the event from Red Bull

Complete b*****ks. The first video posted shows it took nearly 10 seconds.

Kubica to stay at Renault through 2012

Robert Kubica has extended his deal with Renault through to the end of 2012, the team has announced.

The Pole joined Renault from BMW Sauber this season, and has spearheaded a resurgence that has seen Renault get ever closer to the title contenders, taking podium finishes in Australia and Monaco.

Kubica had been linked to a Ferrari move before Felipe Massa was re-signed earlier this year, and rumours had also suggested a potential Mercedes deal, but he has now committed to Renault for a further two years.

"It was a straightforward decision for me to continue with a team where I feel at home," said Kubica. "What's important for me is to be in the right atmosphere, with a good group of people, where everybody is pulling in the same direction. This is what we have tried to build from the beginning of my time with Renault.

"I think we have already achieved a lot together, and I believe that with plenty of effort, time and the right approach, we can move even further forward. That is certainly our target, so we will keep working hard and pushing on every front, not just for the rest of this season but also for next year when there are more big rule changes on the way. I am really looking forward to the challenge."

Team boss Eric Boullier said retaining Kubica was critical to its ambitions to return to title contention - especially as he had been at the centre of this year's 'silly season' speculation.

"We are delighted that Robert will remain with us for the next two seasons and I would like to thank him for the faith he has shown in this team," said Boullier.

"There have been many rumours surrounding his future in recent weeks, which were a tribute to how well he has driven this year, and we are very happy to have agreed a multi-year deal.

"Our clear goal is to become title contenders over the next two years. To do so, we need a driver of Robert's calibre: somebody who is fast, totally committed and doesn't make mistakes. His performances during the first half of the 2010 season were flawless, and we hope to achieve great things together in the future."

Renault has yet to announce who will drive its second car, currently occupied by rookie Vitaly Petrov, in 2011.

Ecclestone: No room for FOTA in F1

Bernie Ecclestone thinks there is no room in grand prix racing for the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) - as a spat over sponsorship branding in the sport moved up a gear at the British Grand Prix.

F1 teams had been warned ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix last month to be mindful of the display of sponsorship logos in the pits – with trackside advertiser Allsport making it clear that it owned such rights at circuits.

The matter has now moved across to the back of the pits too – with sources telling AUTOSPORT that teams have been ordered to remove their tractor units from the Silverstone paddock because of the branding that they displayed.

No truck tractor units have been left in the paddock, and teams were seen on Thursday trying to work out ways to make the front of their trailer units look better.

The move to clamp down on team rights comes on the back of comments that Ecclestone has made to Gazzetta dello Sport – suggesting that he does not believe teams' body FOTA has a place in F1.

"It will never work because it is made by teams that fight against each other on the tracks," Ecclestone told the Italian newspaper.

"When the teams examine rules, everyone tries to get an advantage. The teams wanted to divide F1, but now they understand that it is good to give importance to the money that they get (from FOM). There is no space for FOTA... "

Ecclestone has previously denied any involvement in the row over sponsorship branding, claiming it was a matter between the teams and Allsport.

Emphasis mine. Psst, Bernie... remember the Formula One Constructors' Association (FOCA) you headed back in 1981/82? The one which fought with the FISA? It was comprised of F1 teams fighting each other.

No idea, but I really hope this isn't the end of Senna's F1 career. I really want him to succeed. I met him back in September during the Need for Speed SHIFT UK Finals, and he was really nice; signing autographs and posing for pictures. He even signed my pass and posed with me. :)

    • Studio MDHR reveals Cuphead sequel and an 8-bit platformer spin-off by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Studio MDHR has been rather silent about its next major gaming project since the release of Cuphead back in 2017. However, that ended today during the Summer Game Fest presentation, with the studio revealing not one but two project announcements. First, the studio confirmed that it is currently in the middle of developing a brand-new Cuphead game, bringing back the iconic characters for another adventure. Just like the last game, this is slated to be a fully hand-animated endeavor. This also means there isn't a release date attached to it yet. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR,” says co-founder Chad Moldenhauer. “When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. The studio is working on this new Cuphead with help from Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency. At the same time, Studio MDHR also revealed that another part of the team has been working on a different Cuphead installment. Dubbed the Mighty Cuphead Adventure, this is taking a different art direction to the original. "In true Studio MDHR fashion, this game goes beyond just taking inspiration from the classics of the 1980s… it is actually built with technology of the era," the studio explained. "That's right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in assembly language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind." Aside from releasing on PC and modern consoles, Mighty Cuphead Adventure will even be playable on the 1985-released Sega Master System. A release date has not been announced just yet.
