Yeah Proteus has always costed money V2 was $10 V3 is now $15 or free if you'd already bought V2.

yea, but when i used v2 i never had to pay, did it run out after 30 days or have limitations or something? cause i didnt use it for that long... I know they wanted you to pay but did they restrict versions or something>? now im curious :)

I think it runs for like 30days without any notices, then after the 30days every once in a while you'll get a dialog asking you to buy it (which you can close)

this was true with v2, i'm not 100% sure about v3.

Hmmm couple of ichat questions.

1) can i add a username without them being added to my address book?

2) how can I rename someone. I want to change some names to what their neowin username is so I know who they are.

To rename someone type their name in the Get Info thing on the buddy list (or when you're adding a new contact), but that requires them on your address book I beleive.

Hey Superfula! ummm... OK, 1st.

Address book will create a Contact, as soon as you create one in iChat, but if i remember correctly, if you delete the Contact from the Address book, it will remain deleted, but your iChat buddylist isn't directly affected. I am not sure tho, if you can have a "Custom name" instead of their AIM names, if there's no Address Book Contact file. Try it... i would, but i don't want to lose people in the process :p

Renaming someone?... Well, If you have them as a contact in Address Book (which it does automatically) you can do it via that. Or Control click the username on iChat, and use the Get Info Window! ;)

Here's my iChat window .. i added the Apple Graphic, which makes life easier for me, to work out who is who ... Cuz the grouping is kinda a pain, and could easily get mucked up!
