I don't think I'm that far to know yet.

You mean the way nobody likes the Pulse l'Cie? Because they're involved with Pulse so people think they must be bad. That and the whole turn-into-a-zombie-if-you-don't-fulfil-your-focus probably doesn't help.

lol yeah i think we are pretty much at the same point. Im climbing a mountain chasing after lighting with sazh and the gang...

Yeah I'm there too :D

just got to the part where you see the cut scene between serah and snow where she tells him about her being a l'cie, the story is slowly starting to make more and more sense

and as the game progresses the battle system is getting better and better.

My favourite thing about the final fantasy games has always been the levelling up/battle systems, so I'm very pleased in that respect...but on the other hand this doesn't feel that much like a final fantasy to me. No towns, no side quests (other than the hunts, which is a small thing) and no NPC interaction = butchered final fantasy.

I still love it though :D

Mini spoiler:

Already having to grind my levels up because I keep getting my arse kicked by Odin. :(

You don't really have to really level up. Just use dual healing and commando+ravagers and switch at the 'right time' (don't want to spoil too much ). Died many times but made it through. :)

I managed to get him on the second attempt.

He really hammers you for a few attacks and if you can survive that you heal up and attack him because he will sit off you for a bit and do nothing. Then you get the change that appears in Libra and the battle becomes very easy then. Although leave it till about 35 on the doom meter to max out the gestalt gauge.

I'm slowly getting further into the game about 12 hours in. The last battle i had the choice between Libra or use my summon, i went with Libra which helped because the boss kept changing it's elemental weakness.

Another thing i like with difficult battles is when you stagger them because you know you can probably take down most of the enemies life if not all of it. The sense of power you get.

The twins were really easy for me. Just dont attack them, just use abilities such as provoke and I forget what's the other one called. Just do it through out the whole Battle.

i sat there and used magic on them the entire time and with about 50 seconds left on my doom clock i got'em

i did nothing at all untill seconds from them atacking then used Frostguard to block it, didnt have to heal once

there was a libra potion that i used on them that said they follow people who can defend alot, so i did

i sat there and used magic on them the entire time and with about 50 seconds left on my doom clock i got'em

I've done Odin now, I maxed out my levels almost then just made sure I healed as soon as my health went below 400 :D

I've got a level 22 weapon, what's the maximum level for weapons until you can turn it into something new?!

The game actually says something like "Try defending against the shiva sisters"

lol i know that's the funny thing... i was just like **** it, that doesn't make sense lets just blast the girls with magic...

Attended a talk by the head writer on FFXIII, he said that the linearity was a design decision to draw a difference between the two worlds. Also said that the reason it's story and cut-scene driven is that the Japanese are more comfortable watching the game, feeling like they observe from a more distance 3rd person perspective, while western gamers tend to want to feel like they are part of the action, hence the more direct behind-the-character 3rd person perspective in Western games and RPG's.

LOL Odin whooped my ass, well Hopes ass for 45 minutes till I finally figured it out, for my FF game I'm liking it.

SCREW YOU ODIN!

Odin whooped my *** the first time as well. But what worked for me what going into battle as medic/medic. waited till he started using his shield then went Ravenger/Ravenger. Rinse and repeat. Worked well.

Oh and healing the boy (forgot his name, but then he is quite annoying so i don't care to remember) also boosted the gauge quite fast.

Yup, Odin spanked my *** as well. What worked for me imo is to use Ravager and Medic and keep spamming the attack button till he dies.

I just beat the Chapter 10 boss,

Cid Raines

what a scary battle that was. I went into the battle, got the boss down to 1/4 of his energy, than

he did that transform thing, where his wings come out and threw me into the air, cut me up and it was game over

:(

Went into the battle again, no different strategy, other than a little trick I learned.

Tip: if any of your team mates die, and you have no Pheonix Down's left, just summon someone, and once they are finish, they will all be alive and at full health.

I'm now heading into

Gran Pulse

Chapter 11, i'm fairly excited about this part of the game :D

I'm on Chapter 5, so far its...MEH. Maybe it gets more interesting later on. And chapter 5 scenery looks like a quick and dirty modeling job. Repetitive a little.

I agree. I'm about 6.5 hours in and the game still isn't getting interesting. Is the story going to pick up any time soon? It still feels like a constant grind

    • Onwards to Windows 12 then lol.
    • There is a long thread (128pgs and counting) that I've been following over at ElevenForums that has a method for updating Secure Boot even if there is no BIOS upgrade. I've used this method and had zero issues. NOTE:  I do not take any responsibility if this or any other Secure Boot method bricks your system -- YMMV!  Read carefully before using!
    • Yes, yes, YES, thank you AMD. Now display audio, night light, cleartype, etc, all work again.
