The 5850 is the equiv of a GTX280-285. So a fair step up tbh.

i bought a 5850 Sapphire Vapour wotsit at the weekend. I was previously running an 8800gtx. It's absolutely lovely with BFBC2. Crysis is even better.

I am however getting random crashes in Battlefield, you know, the one where the monitor switches off?! :( hasn't happened in anything else yet.

Looky here:

http://forums.electr...ay-1-fixes.html

Has some info on what the Day 1 patch adds. We can now see our K/D ratio on the tab screen. But not ping, sadly. Which is the one thing I really wanted to see there. Unless that's what the middle column is...can't read it.

Okay..not a lot of info, but some.

Question here, The M1 rifle which you can supposedly use, is that an unlock / pre-order bonus or what?

Middle column IS ping.

Ahhh I see it now. And I don't know about your question, I'm pretty sure it's one of the pre order bonuses along with the pistol.

2 x Classic Battlefield 1943 Weapons

    • M1A1 Submachine Gun – Popular with Paratrooper and Commando units in WW2 for its rate of fire and stopping power the M1A1 is still seen in the hands of paramilitaries today. Reliable but heavy, this classic weapon is still a powerful force in the hands of a Battlefield Veteran.
    • M1911 Pistol – Adopted in 1911 by the US Army the M1911 saw heavy service in WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam. Highly customized M1911 are still favored by Special Operations forces for its reliability and the power of its large .45 caliber round

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this so far but the document listed on the first post:

Soldier Names

Doesn't actually show anything (not on IE or Firefox for me anyway)

The names are there however, you just need to highlight the hidden text (text seems to be the same colour as the background).

Works fine here ( Chrome ) and it looks great.

What really ticks me off is that veterans site simply just will not accept my 1942 serial (mine is not the standard 4-4-4-4) and says my Vietnam key has already been entered by someone else. Also it is not working for 1943 at all when I choose it. I would have all games entered, instead I am just a Level 4. May contact their support actually.

My server is online.

Screenshot of the settings I've got running on it. It's running Rush maps only atm, not sure if it will let me do both kinds.

beauty, i live in BC so speeds should be decent for me too!

Any ideas if they are going to do the veteran thing like BF2142 you got a little Battlefield 2 logo next to your name?

Yes they are.

And a few of us, myself included, are still having issues getting the Veteran thing to recognize all my games, in fact I just emailed their support after unsuccessfully waiting for a Live Chat agent twice. For whatever reason I cannot register Vietnam or 1942 even though I have them both...

Just took that about 2 hours ago for when I contacted support. I hope to get it resolved so I get the unlock and then have all BF games registered.

    • What I like about Paint is using it almost exclusively for cropping and resizing images I get elsewhere--it's quick, easy and cheap... I keep it glued to my taskbar, in fact.
    • I still remember it fondly today. It was so cool to work in 64-color Half Bright mode and 4.096-color HAM mode (interlaced) when x86 was still in 4-color CGA or 16-color EGA low res. C= never realized what it had until it was far too late--the failure of C= was the failure of its top management. The C= Amiga was 20 years ahead of its time, I always thought. It didn't hurt that in only 512k of chip memory, the Amiga could preemptively multitask when Apple was still doing gray scale graphics on tiny screens and along with everyone else was doing cooperative multitasking (running more than one app at a time in resident memory, but you could only run one of them at a time--had to manually switch between them.) I had a ball with AREXX scripting running between programs that had AREXX ports so that when you sent other applications data and instructions, those running applications could process the same in real time to output! Memories...
    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....

    • I can barely recall getting web results from a file search... I must've turned it off long ago. 26H2 is Insider's Preview build 26300.8697, which I am running, atm. It is not available for people running the standard commercial builds of Windows--only for the beta test Insider's group. But anyway, as mentioned in the thread, this feature has been around for a long time...
