eh? snipe with shotgun? no way. it's very difficult to kill anything with a shotgun in bc2 without being in very close proximity. that or I suck :p

tell that to the lvl 35 guy in the last match and raped every one with a shotgun . every time he would kill you it was @ sniping range lol

you spawn take 3 or 4 steps splat lol

It's almost easier to snipe with shotguns than it is to use rifles. You don't have to be very accurate with them.

Anyways, use the light armor perk if you have it. Then your favorite LMG, along with the perk to increase healing range. I forget what ranks you get those things at though.

Onslaught you mean? It's not free. You have to buy it separate. And it's not included with the VIP stuff as well.

Yes, Onslaught! Didn't say it was free through. But with the upcoming sale, it alleviates the wallets of those looking forward to checking it out.

I suppose so, but right now I'm feeling like DICE isn't earning the money we already paid to them. They're just stalling until MoH comes out. Then once they get money for that they'll stall until BF3 comes out, abandoning each game in the process.

They're keeping things decently patched (on consoles anyways) and dlc is pretty steady altogether. The finally seem to be releasing something with substance and totally original from current in-game modes/content. We really can't complain and turning on them isn't justified simply just cause it will come with a price tag attached.

Looking at the in-game store seems they still have free vip content planned for us to enjoy. I for one like how these guys have handled their dlc strategy. Compared to the rest. I've enjoyed the hell out of the game to its fullest at no additional expense so far. They've earned every cent I paid for the game.

Everything EA gets the red-head step-child treatment as soon as the new kid comes along. Till then, DICE have done a bangup job. They always have.

It's not new content though. It's just a different game mode on a old maps, which is what they've been doing since the start. All these maps in the various game modes and dlcs are already on our game discs. They're just unlocking them, so you're paying for what you already have.. twice.

Now if it was a new game mode and new maps to go with it, then I would say it's probably worth it. But as is stands.. their attitude towards PC players is pathetic. They're acting like a 10 year old kid throwing a temper tantrum because they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

And just so you know up until I read some of their comments towards the PC players (they consider us whiners and incompetent) I was perfectly willing and wanting to buy any dlc they had to offer, even reskins. But now.. not so much.

Also I don't have any issues with EA. I love a lot of their games. ME 1&2, Dragonage, Crysis.. it's DICE that is doing this by selling us a game that when it comes down to it, should still be considered in a beta state. Which they may have been forced to release early by EA, but that's beside the point. It's still DICE's fault for releasing a poorly coded game and refusing to fix it in a timely manner (come on.. knife glitch hotfix plz and thx). They have no pride in their work.

Well, technically yes. Most is already on the disk. But additional coding/modeling is involved with getting these different variations in. It's been free till now. They're basically charging for a new mode altogether now. Not a typical rush/conquest expansion to the already in-game maps. Yea pretty slick on their part to treat dlc this way I'll admit.

It gets deeper but I guess it really all comes down to thee question... How much will it cost, that will/could cause a stir.

I feel you on the whole new content thing though. A couple new maps would certainly sit well with players.

Edit:

And just so you know up until I read some of their comments towards the PC players (they consider us whiners and incompetent) I was perfectly willing and wanting to buy any dlc they had to offer, even reskins. But now.. not so much.

Just read this.

I really can't comment on what they said, but you're saying you would've otherwise been fine with how they're handing this dlc if they wouldn't of made a comment towards pc players? I don't know dude, I just take it for what it is.

Finally got rid of this POS. Aside from the horrible lag (on the PS3 at least), the hit detection is garbage, the game is buggy, and to make things worse you can't communicate with anyone other than your squad members. So when you see 4 snipers all in the same spot, you can't tell them to go after the objective. I shouldn't have to have 3 friends on at all times in order to do well. I will give credit to the game where it's due and that's the sounds. Amazing sounds, very atmospheric, props. You can read my full review here if anyone is interested.

Perhaps MoH will turn out better...though DICE are also developing that so I'm a bit skeptical.

I'm saying I would have been fine with supporting DICE by buying their dlc and perhaps purchasing their future games. But their attitudes have shown that they really don't care about the pc community like they claimed and made such a big deal about. Back when it came to light that IW/Activision was screwing over the pc communities by not including dedicated servers. They have the attitude that they think we should be happy that we're getting anything at all. Even if it's a broken mess. We just want a nicely balanced game that isn't full of bugs. And the ones that are discovered to be fixed in a timely manner.

The pc patch that was supposed to be out more than a month ago now originally contained fixes that a lot of people wanted. It included much needed weapon rebalances, fixes for key features of the game that revolve around helicopters, and the knife glitch. The things that weren't broken on the consoles but were on the pc for some reason. Then it was delayed because of problems with PAID dlc. Paid dlc that no one even really wanted or asked for. We did however want the fixes that were originally in the patch.

As a console gamer you're being catered to, the pc players on the other hand, are not. Essentially they told us one thing before they had our money, and once they got it they stopped caring. I read somewhere else that there are two, yes, two people working on BC2 now.

Don't get me wrong though, I really like this game, that's why it's so frustrating to see it dieing a slow death and the people that can do something about that not really caring at all. They have bigger and better things on the horizon to worry about.

Perhaps MoH will turn out better...though DICE are also developing that so I'm a bit skeptical.

They're only making the multiplayer part of the game which is probably the part most people would be interested in anyways. And if they treat it how they're treating BC2.. But hey, you can pre order MoH now and get early access to the M4. Which you can probably unlock with a solid days worth of game play anyways.

Yea dude, I hear you. But these are decisions that are easily influenced by the publisher. We all know the crap pc gamers are getting from all ends these days.

I personally can't really put %100 of the blame on DICE and therefor choose to not support them altogether. Everyone wants to focus on consoles now. I'm sure EA made that point clear to them at some point and honestly, hats off to them for not going the Activision route along with IW. Which is why I believe they'll go with the $10 price tag on Onslaught btw.

Yeah, I'm just not so eager to give them my money anymore. And EA is not responsible for the attitudes that the DICE developers have shown the pc players in the last month.

They've even said the reason they now use Twitter so much is so that they can say things about the PC community that they otherwise could not if they posted on the EA official forums. That's a wonderful attitude to take towards your current and future potential customers don't you think?

Well, I could see how anyone could interpret this as being a positive thing. Not bounded by the ea's forum restrictions/guidelines, but reach their users on a more in-touch personal level perhaps ? Makes them more accessible. I may just be talking out my ass here dude. I really don't know a lick about what's going on with them and PC gamers. You could very well be spot on about them and their attitudes. It's just not the DICE I've followed for so many years. Hard to believe actually.

As you said, I'm one of those fortunate pampered console owners, that just doesn't game on his pc anymore. (though I would love to come back to it with a proper BF3 release!) :D

Well, as a 360 owner no longer doing PC gaming, I can say they aren't doing a whole helluva lot on the console side either. I've already traded in my copy and I was one of the folks in this thread on release that couldn't get enough of the game. I hyped it to everyone I know. Maybe things will change but my bet is probably not. What a shame because at its core BC2 was fantastic, just too much BS that made it not fun.

So the pc patch is apparently done today/yesterday (Tuesday). They say though that they want the time during the week to fix problems if anything goes wrong with the patch. So they need the entire extra day. Right.. just like they fixed the knife bug right away, when they figured out what was causing it?

Ahhh DICE. Don't get me wrong I really like the game, but your excuses for being lazy are paper thin at best.

You sure that was the PC patch? The "map" pack is ready. But the PC patch has been delayed for a while now due to transport strikes where the QA is taking place (source & EA UK forums).

Yeah, Bazajaytee had a message on twitter (die twitter) that the patch was done but it wasn't going out to Steam or anyone else yet.

I don't know if it's true or not but it's what I've been reading. So it will be next week.. the same way it's been next week for the last four weeks in a row, I guess.

    • This got me thinking, would you rather a self driving car prioritise protecting its passengers or everyone else? I'd choose the one that keeps me and my kids safest. At some point, these cars have to make those choices already, don't they? Wonder if we have a way to find out what way they lean.
    • The proportion (or number of iterations) has nothing to with this aspect of Copyright I am describing. In short, it doesn't matter how many times the manager tells you to change something or how. Your work product is always YOURS until and unless you then assign that to the person representing the client/company, usually for financial compensation -- either in salary or as a subcontract work for hire payment. if iterations determined copyright, then businesses would have learned to just keep making changes until they could claim they owned the copyright, without having to compensate the artist for their work. And that would be BAD. The only place where the amount of changes does have a role is in how much does a human modify a previous public domain work (from any source) before it is considered fair use or their own work, etc. For example, if a human makes substantial changes to a public domain (re: AI, by definition) work, then they can then claim that derivative work as their own...but NEVER the original version, of course. That's why anyone can make a movie about Dracula, for example, as long as it is based on the public domain novel, but not if they take new ideas from copyrighted movies made afterwards. As one of the people who personally advised the US Copyright Office on their recent ruling on these very issues, be assured that I specifically used the terminology precisely -- though I made it simple enough for laymen to understand it. If I made this confusing by doing so, I apologize. But, to be clear regarding your assumption that I would agree to your second statement that I quoted above -- the answer is NO. If AI does the work, no matter how much "direction" you give it, it cannot be copyrighted. All AI generated content is in the Public Domain and therefore the copyright cannot be assigned to ANYONE, even you -- until and unless substantial modifications are made to it BY A HUMAN BEING (yourself or a contracted artist/writer/etc.) and then that copyright on the derivative work is legally (in writing) transferred to you. This is a critical distinction. And it is important that people, especially AI sloppers, understand this. For example, YouTube is not paying AI slop generators for the copyright, etc. of their AI slop. What YouTube is doing is sharing AD REVENUE for permission to publish your AI slop. Copyright/ownership/rights never come into it. Importantly, that means that anyone can copy any AI slopware on YouTube, etc. and rehost it anywhere they want, even back on YouTube, and there is nothing legal that YouTube can do about it with regards to copyright protections, ownership, DMCA, etc. Anyone is legally free to use any AI slopware in any way they want. When this ruling was pending, I warned Disney legal of all of this before they did their OpenAI deal -- that it would literally dilute their entire IP portfolio forever. They ignored that warning for the PR and stock bump. But that is why, when the ruling came down last year, Disney quickly extricated themselves from that OpenAI deal, even eating the initial upfront fees -- followed closely by OpenAI ending their entire AI video generating business model. They adjusted their PR release dates to make this less obvious to shareholders, of course. Phew. I hope that this clears up the key distinctions for you and anyone reading. If you have any additional questions or even hypotheticals about AI and Copyright, please feel free to ask.
