The reason for such large updates is probably that if they make adjustments to one single file in a package, even if the file is 1kb, they have to replace the entire package. At least that's how it works on the PC I think. It seems to make sense anyways, but I'm probably wrong. It would explain why patches that only deal with coding changes are very large.

You might be right. The Xbox 360 allows for 4mb and smaller patches. The PS3 must be doing something different with the way they patch.

The PC patch is delayed, yet again.

It makes me wonder...if their QA is finally working as it's intended, then how did the game get released in the state it was in? This makes me think that before the PC players called them out on their half assed attempts at fixing the game they really didn't QA their game at all.

And if that's the attitude they're going to take towards making their games what makes then think we'll want to pay money for MoH and BF3?

Oh for ****s sake. It was fine the first two times it got delayed but now it's just ridiculous. This seriously hurts their PR. And is it really that difficult to release a small fix for the knife?

Had a quite weird bug yesterday: I was C4ing a Bradley (1st base, Valparaiso, defense, B mcom, at the water) which was moving. I throw a pack at it, it's sort of sticks... to air. It was just floating in air. Threw another one, and it stays in the air as well, with Bradley just driving away like nothing happened. Luckily the people inside didn't notice me and I could just refill and finish the job while it was stationary.

Well guess what's wrong this time. Map loading is causing the game to crash. That's why it didn't pass QA. What are they doing that would affect this? None of the problems with the game had anything to do with maps loading so what are they changing that would cause that. It doesn't make any sense.

Like I said though, they're wanting people to pre order their new games. And with their bad attitudes they are showing to the PC community and their in ability to fix a simple thing like the knife bug. And it's not even really something they can't do without a major patch, they've already said they fixed it, they just don't want to. The same goes for the weapon balancing. These things could be their own patches. Well.. they won't be seeing any more pre order money from me any time soon.

PS3 version here after the patch it reset my rank 14 guy to rank 1 lost everything :(

whenmy internet gets capped every month my stats show that on pc(reset to rank 1), until i get uncapped at the end of the month. have you checked you stats using one of the stat website. If one of them also show this then you might be in trouble.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 VIP Map Pack 3

On June 9th, VIP Map Pack 3 will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 bringing new modes to Nelson Bay and Laguna Alta.

Fight for control of the M3A3 Bradley and achieve supremacy against 3 other squads as Nelson Bay is enhanced with Squad Deathmatch mode.

Use all of your squad skills and tactics to secure M-COM stations as Laguna Alta is enhanced with Squad Rush mode.

The map pack is available with the VIP code which is included in every new copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Players that do not have a code can purchase one via the in-game store.

PC will get the maps available for all players after the release of the next update without the need for a VIP code.

Sooooo they release more maps for the 2 modes that are played the least. Well, that makes perfect sense. It's really sad. All these maps should have been unlocked from the first day of retail and we should be seeing brand new maps now. Losing more and more faith in dice.

My feeling exactly. They haven't been any news maps at all. Regardless what DiCE spin says. Everything was already there, all they did was add extra modes.

A quote from Bazajaytee, the guy in charge of this game pretty much on optics for the M14 and G3:

Whether optics get added into the game is still a decision that lies with Demize99.

Seriously? They show off a feature in a video of future "content" that has something the community has been asking for since day one pretty much and they say that's only for testers. W T F.

DICE's decision making process is totally fubar. And they wonder why the pc players show them so much negativity.

Another thing that strikes me as interesting is that if that is true, then the testers are playing the game with options that will never make it into retail, and they're using this to balance the retail game with features we will never have. And if the video isn't new, as in made before the game was released when those two guns actually had the optics enabled for them, that means we've had the VIP maps on our game discs since day one. That means DICE is milking these "map packs" instead of creating actual brand new maps. Bad decision making DICE.

    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn weapons and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.
