new feature in photoshop CS5

Recommended Posts

I am downloading trials right now.

So does the new feature really work as advertsed?

Yes and no

If you are removing an object larger than the detail you want it replaced with, it will make mistakes as it looks at what there is the majority of near it, and uses that as the fill

If you are removing a person from a field, then yes, perfectly

I find removing part of the large object first and getting that right first, gives the program a much better chance of matching the correct surroundings

Take this picture for example, I removed the full fence all at once, and it filled the space with some grass, some tree and some sunshine rays, but you can spot heal again and again and it gets better and better each time until you have a pretty decent edit

That fence is so big part of the image you'll never get a good result without a second image to borrow replacement parts from though. as is seen by the obvious cloning repetition on the grass.

granted, it's a better picture with the fence anyway but :)

ummm, you don't have to work for a magazine to want to remove some powerlines or other random unwanted elements from your otherwise perfect or even just good shot. Especially if you do landscape, and well, there's nowhere in the world you can get a good landscape shot today without some random powerline ruining the shot.

I think he was just pointing out a specific field where it'll become helpful and not saying ONLY magazines will benefit from it.

Well there is a read up in the CS5 help file that is from October 2009 stating it will be in future Photoshop products - I can find the patch tool, but it is not anything like the demo

Adobe Labs is experimenting with amazing new patch and fill technologies that may appear in a future version of Photoshop.

I would abuse this feature as I have not so steady hands and end up with bad flare. Good/Decent pictures, bad flare. So yes bring it on Adobe!

Use a lens hood or shoot at different times of day when sun is higher/lower...problem solved.

    • The original word arts were far more awesome! With their own preconfigured fill patterns, 3D layout, etc, with options to fine-tune their size and colors as desired. I especially loved the ones circled below and still miss them from my primary school years: I frankly use them less these days 'cause the new one isn't as straightforward fine art as what we originally had, taking time and effort to get back to the same graphics quality as the original offered, which I simply don't have enough of for merely fine-tuning my presentation titles. Same with the built-in picarts selection. Bring back the original pre-configured options for word art then I'll be using them far more frequently in my presentations even today.
    • What didn't you understand about that was mainly referring to Google, Microsoft, etc. keeping your passwords. Password Management is a key service of Bitwarden and it's not going anywhere. In any case they do offer export to other Password management services, backup/download of passwords, and the already mentioned on-prem option. I don't agree with the OP to use the free option as it's better to be an actual customer IMO. They don't just don't delete accounts like the big tech companies with no recourse which was the main concern of this article. I was confused if the author was trying to sell this setup? It should be obvious to anyone reading this article this solution is overly complicated and overkill for most users.
    • I got this notification just now in Android: So I went in to disable the "Other" or "Marketing" notifications in Notifications management: But it came through the Now Playing? So if I disable that I no longer get what's Now Playing in Notifications? I'm a paying subscriber, not on the free plan... can they sink any lower?
