i think that the Windwos 7 UI, is too slapped together and ductaped together.

i want something that took YEARS! to design something classy and simple.

Metro, to me, looks warm, nice, inviting, not so damn uptight, kinda has a little graffiti feel to it.

i disagree with the darkness of Zune/Windows Phone 7 UI

but i want, no NEED COLOR! i need bright colors (that dosent look cartoonish) bright and colorful is the theme i want.

Windows 7 looks nice,

the first time you look at it. after that it gets boring adn you discover that windows 95 isnt gone, its been hiding in the latest version of windows all along. (thats a bad thing)

adn you just see all the residue that is left over.

there top frame opacity is too much.

why cnt it be just enough blur to keep from seeing underneath it.

why cant you see your wallpaper under the taskbar without feeling like your looking through a funhouse mirror?

I went to buy a Zune, but saw the interface, thought it was ugly as hell, and saved the money. I have had Windows PDAs since 2001. Worked with the WP7 SDK, hated it, and switched to Android.

Metro is beyond ugly, and as a desktop UI would be horrendous, since it completely lacks a lot of the features needed, not to mention existing software is not designed for it.

Fail.

my main problem with metro is the darkness

it has very nice transitions (owned a Zune 30 december 07, 120 since june 09)

getting an iPod Touch but it was a very hard decision and only because of the apps and the retina display and camera.

anywho

Metro on the Xbox 360 Looks Beautiful.

the Kinect update is completely Metro and the NXE was partially Metro.

and i want an animated Windwos Setup. that dosent look like windwos 95.

and i want MS to start using Higher res wallpapers

2560x1600 should be the absolute lowest res walls allowed

Kinect Dashboard (low res, found on the internet.)

I think Windows 8 would have a bit more going on then in them mockups. A nice try, but I cant see M$ going that far out.

I think elements from 'Copenhagen' will make it into Windows 8 UI wise actually. Not all of course, the Start Bar will remain Windows 7 like. People are too used to it, to change it would be too drastic of a change.

I'd probably actually use Windows if it was like that. Too bad Microsoft loves to pick crappy ones rather than something good like that.

What does this offer over Windows 7? Nothing - it's horrible, it's a UI disaster if they went with something like that.

Actually isn't that bad, and fits the Metro-theme that Microsoft's been moving in the direction of lately imho. Not likely the way 8'll go, but interesting take.

Flat with subtle effects FTW! Gone are the faux 3d'ish feel and in with a more minimalist subtle downplayed interface.

If they bought the look and feel of the WP7 over to Windows 8 I'd be the first in line to upgrade to it.

That depends on what you're referring to. The design language or the Windows Phone 7 UI as a whole. I'm not liking both for the desktop.

Neither, it is the feel/colours/etc not the tile like interface on WP7 - there is the interface itself, then there is the look 'n feel which includes the colours, the shapes etc. then there is the metro language itself. Three distinct points and the obvious one that 'metero ftw' are referring to the 'look and feel' and not the tile interface itself.

metro looks so boring tho. it's cool for the first 2 minutes and then it's mundane to look at and it don't inspire you. Looks too cold for me.

I like the glassy look of windows 7 and it looks pretty.

the metro look looks way to sterile like a lab in a sci-fi movie. LOL.

it screams rigidness and looks also thrown together. much like a hectic office or a hectic sign or something.

The mockups would be best with a transparent display held in the hand like a futuristic tablet pc, but in a regular desktop setup it looks goofy.

Do you think if the OS goes full Metro, we'd not have a desktop? Nothing to skin? No wallpaper??? I hope not :( I want them to go back to the Longhorn style and bring in the awesome sidebar we saw in 2003's concept. THAT my friends, is a DREAM OS. Remember it???
