Dear oh dear oh dear! Didn't see that coming....;)

Yikes, that is lower than I thought. I also figured Lost Planet would be # 1 since it is on both Platforms and released a few days earlier than AW. Means AW is Rokken like Dokken.

I just completed this a few minutes ago. Wow, what a gaming masterpiece - it blew my mind.

You musn't have played many good games then...

The story is OK, it's just the narration which is really cringe worthy in many places.

That's the idea

Sam written him like Dan Brown, the guy is an ###### and a poor writer. It's why his internal monologues sound so cheesy and his manuscript so hollywood-esq

I don't get comments like this. Seriously, he really liked something you personally find average so he must not have played good games?? Logic anywhere?

My friend and I have been playing this all day! The characters face's in the cut scenes are pretty pretty (audio wise) but other than that, this game is just plain fun. Playing in the darkness with the surround sound all the way up really adds to the scary factor. I about jumped a mile one time when out of no where a guy comes from around a rock and axed me in less than a second. Those moments along with an actual story have really pulled me in so far. Currently I'm running from the cops right now. :shiftyninja:

I'm not far into the game yet due to picking up Red Dead Redemption today as well and also playing the hell out of FIFA World Cup but what I have played so far has been great. The only let down for me was the facial animations when people talk. Compare it with Red Dead and it's not even close, yet Alan Wake is in development far longer. Other than that I think I will really enjoy this game and probably do several play-throughs. Reminds me a bit of Indigo Prophecy, which I loved. Good on Remedy for this one.

(Was also excited to see the Max Payne 3 insert!)

I have to say, I am mildly disappointed with this game.

The ending felt really empty, and there could have been so many different, better ways to end the story rather than what happened there. Of course, they clearly wanted to leave the story hanging for Alan Wake 2, but it could have been done in a much better way.

I did like the credits though with David Bowie, a nice little touch there that I think other games should do too.

I wish it was longer too, and there were more things to collect rather than manuscript pages which is just a little bit dull. Wonder what DLC there will be...

great feel to it and you can tell they invested a lot in it. nice tribute to a variety of TV shows, movies and past games. but i can tell why some consider it repetitive and at some points it gets really hard really fast and you can't set the difficulty down, which is a big minus. not short at all, but then i never do the one-sitting thing with any game. so far giving this a 8/10.

I have had the game since Wednesday and I haven't played it yet :(. I did unlock the DLC from the Bonus disk so I could change my theme. I also put the game in my Xbox and booted it up to I could check out the achievements and extras. I will be playing it tonight for sure.

If there is anyone here that has a female avatar (Cupcake has me blocked, but you can let her know), here is a free avatar shirt for female from Alan Wake (Amazon preorder bonus). First come first serve:

I'm only a few hours into the game, but so far it's very enjoyable. The light mechanics are definitely cool and adds something interesting to the combat. So far I haven't noticed any graphical glitches or other problems as I've read others have had, but I'm only a few hours in (on my way to Lover's Peak).

Hoping to get quite a few good hours in this weekend though...

I randomly had alan wakes player model freeze in the middle of a fight and I was shooting out of my elbow like it was a machine gun. Then after a minute it randomly went back to normal.

Finished it yesterday evening. I'm pretty disappointed unfortunately. it started out pretty good, had some nice twists in the story and kept it exciting enough. Near the end I just felt it kept dragging on and the story was getting too weird/hard to follow. The ending really topped it off though.. wth was that..

I just finished the game and had some comments on the length. I felt after the "well light room" the game was being slightly drug out. Before that point I was really enjoying the game's length. For a single player experience, overall it felt just about right.

Finished the game last night. Really enjoyed it but

the supposedly satisfying ending was not very satisfying. I may not have misunderstood the story but i'm guessing because light and dark are kind of like on scales... he could only save Alice by sacrificing himself to the dark presence? which balances things out?. Also Nightengale, why did he suddenly appear? did they cover that? Hopefully the future DLC will cover some of that as we know the DLC won't actually continue the ending.

I really don't understand why some people feel let down by this game.

About

Nightengale

are you saying you wanted him to show up as a Taken after they took him in the jail cell scene?

Overall this was definitely one of the better single player experiences I have had in the best year or two. The light mechanics and the graphics were amazing and there was just enough of a scary element to everything because you just felt rushed at times because you didn't no where they would come from. Having a real story to follow was a nice change of pace. I swear, half the games out there don't care about the story anymore and just try to wow gamers with graphics, well this game really brought a decent story to the table (other than the ending). If this game was able to even suck in my friend who normally laughs off every game's story, I think Remedy did an ok job. :p

On a side note, I know the lip syncing was bad through most of the game, but even in the TV "interview" sequence it was off. What's up with that?

"First come first serve:" ... I used the code, if you don't mind?

Thanks very much :)

    • Sued and... exonerated. Oh, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that anyone who uses the word "antiturst" in conjunction with "Microsoft" is an idiot, even if that person is Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. That judge ruined the image of the US justice system. Microsoft Edge has a 5.14% market share. Also, Windows is no longer the #1 OS. None of this constitutes a monopoly. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
