[UK] iPhone 4 Handset Prices Announced PAYG

Recommended Posts

Anyone that has that much money to waste on a phone + contract would be better off investing in technology (or savings for that matter) that aren't obsolete after six months. Crazy, crazy prices.

For me iPhones seem to last for 2 years, and still have a high resale value.

Take a look at the HTC Hero for obsolete in 6 months.

Last comment is on point. The iPhone is still able to hold it's value long after it's launch, infact, it goes into years.

I pre-ordered mine within hours of launch and it'll be arriving on the 24th. I wish some of you done the same. The prices will be no different vs O2 launch prices.

That's not an attack on the iPhone. It's an attack on every phone. Spending that much money on ANY phone is absurd.

iPhone's don't lose value like most other handsets.

Example: iPhone 3G at launch: ?349, They're still going for ?160-?180 on eBay (that's for a 2 year old, "obsolete" phone). You couldn't rent a phone for ?84 a year.

That's a delusion for a start. You say "don't lose vale" yet you say you can only get 53% of the initial. I spend ?10 a month on my mobile and I only get a new model when I can get one for free.

But ?500 for a phone? How can anyone say that is sensible? Or spending ?35 a month + extra calls + data + texts that go over the included amount? It's such an unnecessary waste of money and is one of the great distractions that people simply do not need.

Pretty much... I earn my money, I spend it on the essentials and then whatever is left I will spend how I choose. I could blow it all on hookers and booze if I wanted to, it's none of your business to say I "don't need it" if I didn't work for my money then fairplay, but I do so shh :p

Money4MyMobile.com are offering ?205 for an iPhone 3G 16GB. I know someone who sold his on eBay for ?309.

In YOUR opinion its a waste of money, just because you spend £10 a month on a phone doesnt mean no one else can buy expensive phones.

We're on a forum, of course it's "MY" opinion. Where else would it come from?

People can spend their money any way they choose, do you think I'm King Jong Il or something? I don't give two craps - but in MY opinion (I guess from now on I have to put that in every post? stupid) it's a waste of money that could be spent on more useful stuff.

I'm getting away from my main point a bit. I can understand people spending up to £200 / £25 a month on a moble. But the upper end prices for iphones and other mobiles are extortionate. Look at what you can buy for £500 - a used car (banger) a laptop, a mid-high range desktop computer, a stereo, a 30"+ HD TV - or a phone. Crazy.

iPhone 4 will only be available for existing O2 customers at launch

iPhone stock will be extremely limited in the UK at launch and not everybody who wants one will be able to get one straight away. We want to make sure that our existing customers get priority so until at least the end of July, only existing O2 customers will be able to get an iPhone 4 from us.

Whether you're an existing O2 mobile customer looking to upgrade, or one of our broadband customers looking to move your mobile to O2, our iPhone stock is reserved exclusively for you.

O2's latest update

. . .or one of our broadband customers looking to move your mobile to O2. . .

That is me :)

Got some home internet with them a few months ago and it has been great. I'm with Vodafone at the moment but unfortunately got sucked into their 24 month deal, so if O2 can offer me something good then I will happily switch, although I have until November on my current contract (with a Sony Ericsson W595). They might buy me out though in August?

The problem is, there seems to be no space for someone who wants a cheaper contract.

I currently get:

Sony Ericsson W595 - Free

24 Months

300 Minutes

Unlimited Texts

£15 a month

I want:

HTC Desire - Free (or under £50)

18 Months

100-300 Minutes

Unlimited Texts

Unlimited Internet (I don't really know how much mobile phones use with the likes of Facebook as that and Neowin, maybe checking emails will be the only use it will get).

£15 - £20 a month. £25 at a push.

But then I have a trick card up my jumper with O2 as I want to get my phone line with them too :shifty: Plus, The HTC will still be a very good phone even in November! Then again, maybe Sim only is a way to go if they only offer 24 month contracts.

Yeah that tariffs ?35 a month with the phone being ?100 on 18 month, they really wont budge that much to your expectation

So that would be ?526 for the 16GB, ouch!.

That's just Belgium. Add to that at least ?45/month (seperately) for a plan with 1hr call time and 500MB data (HSPA though, with pretty much national coverage).

I really don't like iPhones etc, but the iPhone 4... The screen :omg:

Have people seen the crazy prices the iPhone 4 is going for on eBay?! I know people don't have them in hand, which is making it even more crazy but I am assuming these are people who pre-ordered it for delivery on 24th June.

16GB iPhone 4 has been going for ?800............

Ugh, wish I had pre-ordered, would have happily sold it on eBay for twice the price  Mugs.

    • But you still need RAM and a GPU. If you haven`t any spare that`s going to cost quite a bit...
    • Thank you for the feedback! I updated the image
    • Hmm wonder if I can share/resell the 'physical' edition like I can now.

    • JBL BAR 800 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar is an amazing deal today by Sayan Sen This Amazon Prime Day 2026 sales so far we have had a couple of nice deals related to sound and audio. First we have the Sennheiser HD 600 at its lowest ever price of just $225. Next we also have the Beats Studio Pro at its lowest price ever at just $150. However perhaps you prefer your gear to sound great on a larger scale, like throughout the room. In that case an all-in-one soundbar system can help and currently JBL's BAR 800 is a great deal for sure as it's up for grabs at just $600 (purchase link under the specs table down below). One thing that should be appreciated a lot about these JBL soundbars is their spec sheet and the frequency response data it provides. The firm is honest about it as JBL confirms the subwoofer is able to go down to 35 Hz at -6dB or F6. This means it should be covering 40Hz and up very well, where most of the bass lies. You miss out on a lot of sub-bass but that is to be expected given the price point and the subwoofer driver size. Speaking of which, it is a 10-inch driver and promises a max output power of 300 watts at 1% THD (total harmonic distortion). JBL also claims the system will provide you with a "True Dolby Atmos" experience. The surround speakers are wireless and battery-powered which means setting them up should be really convenient. The technical specs of the JBL BAR 800 are given in the table below: Specification Value Channel Configuration 5.1.2-channel soundbar system Dolby Atmos Yes, with 2 up-firing drivers Total System Power Output 720 W Soundbar Power Output 340 W Surround Speaker Power Output 2 × 40 W Subwoofer Power Output 300 W Soundbar Drivers 3 × 46×90 mm racetrack drivers, 3 × 20 mm tweeters, 2 × 70 mm up-firing full-range drivers Surround Speaker Drivers 1 × 46×90 mm racetrack driver (each speaker) Subwoofer Driver 10-inch (260 mm) wireless subwoofer Frequency Response 35 Hz – 20 kHz (-6 dB) Audio Inputs Optical, Bluetooth, Chromecast built-in, AirPlay, Alexa Multi-Room Music (MRM), USB* HDMI Inputs 1 HDMI video input HDMI Output 1 HDMI eARC output HDCP Version 2.3 HDR Pass-Through HDR10, Dolby Vision Bluetooth Version 5.0 Wi-Fi Version 6, 6E Streaming Services Chromecast built-in, Apple AirPlay, Alexa MRM Get it at the link below: JBL Bar 800-5.1.2-Channel Dolby Atmos soundbar with Detachable Surround Speakers (Black): $599.85 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US with Prime) Prime subscription can be cancelled within three business days.
