Those cart races look damn fun. They made the right move by putting that in with GT5. I wouldn't want to play a stand-alone game of just that, but it will definitely be nice to shake things up when you get tired of doing regular races all the time (a common problem that I have with Forza 3, which is why I play that game on and off now).

I'm definitely getting a racing wheel for this one.

Reverse lights, signals, and flashing high beams are already confirmed for premium cars.

This game is shaping up to be better than anyone could've ever anticipated. I don't care if they charge $99 for it, its worth every penny lol.

Yeah, it's really shaping up to be something truly epic! I still can't justify paying the ~$AUD300 for the "Signature Edition" but by the looks of things, even my humble standard edition is going to be an exceptional experience (Y)

I know what you mean, I play Forza 3 off and on too and I'm in Year 6 now and the races are long and feel quite drawn out...still a great game in it's own right but can only play it in short bursts now because the races are too long and boring :p having the Go Karts in GT5 is a good idea, after having a long race (or just after a few short ones) being able to "jump in" a Go Kart and have a quick blast sound great to help keep things interesting :)

Yeah, I got a basic wheel I got with GT4 (Logitech Driving Force) and I'll just be using that with GT5, sure it's not as fancy as the new ones with clutches and gear shift and what not but it's enough for me and still adds to the experience :)

Fixed the tag. Use the "wyoutube" tag instead of the "media" tag. You only need the video code at the end as well (after "watch?v="). ;)

Neowin need to fix that, with the amount of videos I post I cba manually tagging everything because their "Insert Media" button is pretty gimped.

Not sure if this picture is on the last page, have to repost it because god damnit PD...

Snip

yeah i posted it already in 18 MEGAPIXELS about a couple post up look at it at 100%

:woot: those latest pictures are epic! and then I went and saw all the other ones over on GT Planet  :omg: everyone was starting to doubt Polyphony when this games was taking so long to arrive (I know because I was one of them) but looks like Polyphony are gonna deliver and then some! I might have to take off all of November for this game but I can't imagine doing anything else! :D

Doubting PD is like doubting you'll get fire ass after a very strong and spicy curry rofl.gif

In reality though it's just because they're Japanese devs, modest and rarely run around bigging everything up until its properly ready, and lacking in the competition mocking the west is full of. Want proof of that cultural gap, just look back in these forums to after E3 2009, the amount of ridiculous **** Americans and EU members of this forum were saying was laugh.gif Tbh even the media was full of it, glad PD just kept their mouths shut and worked away without getting caught up in telling gaming outlets to STFU.

Yeah your right :) well now I know I was wrong to doubt them!

Yeah, I remember how sure everyone was that Forza 3 would destroy GT5 and already crowning it the best racing game of all time. However, in it's defense Forza 3 is still an awesome game and Turn 10 did a fantastic job with it and I give them alot of kudos for continuing to bring out new cars etc for it but come November, it'll be time to move over and let the true king show everyone how's it done :)

As you say Forza 3 is a great game, but it doesn't come close to the sheer scale and polish that GT5 seems to be bringing. But as people mention, Turn 10 pump them out quicker than Polyphony do. I guess it comes down to how long you're willing to wait.

Given the time it's taken to arrive, I still think some of the things it is offering are beyond peoples original expectations. Lets hope that the Sony servers are up to the task of the online side because if they are I can see this being one game that will be played for a VERY long time.

At the very least, I hope the online system is the same as Forza 3, because GT5P's system is terrible.

When you consider the PD has 5 GT's under their belt for the PS, a GT mobile for the PSP and a couple GT prologues, a GTHD demo and a GT Academy demo, one would hope that GT5 is the polish. Especially after how long it took to make. Turn 10 just made their 3rd title, which is leaps and bounds beyond what Forza 1 was, and was well polished in it's own right. Imagine Forza after the team has churned out a few more titles!

Indeed. This game not only matched my hype for the game, but it exceeded it. I already have goosebumps thinking about unwrapping the game when it comes in the mail. I agree with the online. That is something they are not known for, nor have the experience. If the backbone can match/hold what they have displayed, it will be so choice w00t.gif

I have to say the Go-Karting in my opinion looks extremely boring and incredibly badly done! It appears the AI just follow the same line all around. I guess I won't be using that feature much. I can wait for the game because I'm not hugely hyped for it but it should be a nice game, just a shame they have taken forever to make it! Stop adding more and more features and just release it already.

I am curious as to how they have manage their online aspect of the game but we'll see I guess.

    • Rescind the stupid "Show more options" in context menus and just give us the full menu instead of adding more steps to get to what we want. The "simpler by default" makes me think they'll go in the opposite direction. Every context menu should have a configure button so you can pick and choose what options should be shown, I know you can do that with some registry fu but that shouldn't be required.
    • This is why competition must exist. Finally, pressure is mounting on Microsoft to move in the right direction.
    • Microsoft is making Windows 11's context menus faster, simpler, and configurable by Taras Buria Five years ago, Windows 11 introduced redesigned context menus, offering users a simpler, more modern design. However, customers quickly discovered that the new menus leave a lot to be desired. Many are unhappy with performance (they are really slow), while others dislike the double-layed design, where many options are hidden behind the "Show more options" button. In addition, over the years, menus became cluttered and overloaded. While Microsoft has already fixed plenty of pain points across Windows 11, context menus remain mostly unchanged. Fortunately, Microsoft is finally listening. Marcus Ash, Design and Research Lead for Windows at Microsoft, responded to a tweet on X, confirming that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are supposed to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." What the latter means is unknown, just like whether Microsoft plans to keep the classic menu alongside the modern one, but according to Marcus, the wait should finally be over soon, as he promised to "share our approach soon." Improved context menus will most likely appear first in Windows 11 preview builds in the Experimental Channel. While we wait for Microsoft to release them, you can try fixing context menus on your PC with a simple tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager. It lets you disable entries you do not need, not only cleaning up context menus, but also making them significantly faster. Microsoft has already improved Windows 11's Start menu and taskbar, so hopefully it will address user criticism of the context menu as well. Stay tuned for new Windows 11 preview builds, which usually arrive every Friday.
