Larry with one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake . EPIC footwork (Y).

I am willing to bet more people, wether they are willing to admit it or not because it is not the "proper" way to play, use two feet. It is just MUCH easier LOL At least when they are first starting out like I am. I even asked my brother in law as it was bothering me, and he is way into the racing sims, and his exact words were "screw that man, it may not be right ,but two feet is much easier so why not enjoy it." One day I will maybe use one foot, but for now I am good, and enjoying myself, using 2. tongue.gif

but how will you heel-toe?

I use the DFGT with the Playseat and you have no choice but to use two feet. The bar that holds the wheel gets in the way of heel toe.

a lot of professional racers use left foot braking, even Formula 1, so its perfectly fine using two feet on the pedals.

I don't understand, the alternative to two feet is heel-toe? I don't understand why you wouldn't use 2 feet?

Yeah this is what I kinda thought actually, but was going on driving in real life, then again I am not driving at 200 mph either in real life. I may very well use 2 feet then as well. laugh.gif

Can anyone send me a pick up truck? It is literally the last Amateur event I have left. I am more then willing to buy one, but I cannot find one to purchase at all, nothing in the used car dealer, online dealer, or official dealers either. I am playing right now and should be for at least 30-60 minutes, so if you can somehow send it now, that would be great. If not, and you can send it, I can say for sure I will probably almost definitely not be playing at all tomorrow, have a day in NYC planned with the wife, so if someone can send one later on keep in mind it may be about 2 days until I can get it back.

TIA,

DL

You get one by completing license I-A. I used that one stock and won every event, I can send it to you if you want.

Edit: Sent it anyways.

Thanks man. So did 2 other people! You sent me the RAM-Laramie right? Want to make sure I send it back to the right person!

And that is right, you are MGS3, I knew that!

I went to send it back to you, and it said I have already reached my limit for today! Sorry about that, I will send it back no doubt tomorrow, will hop on just to do that, for sure. (Y)

I was just wondering if there was anyone outthere willing to let me borrow a car that is decent enough to complete The historic racing cup challenge, it is the last set of races I need to beat, to complete that series, if anyone else needs to borrow a vehicle I will do my best to give you what you need, thanks in advance!

PS: I will only keep the car for as long as it will take me to finish the races!

edit: my psn is the same as my screen name on neowin: Remus_Lupin

What kind of car would one need for that? I highly doubt I have a car good enough, as I am nowhere near the end, but I will look into it and see if I do if you give me an idea what you may need/want. Will have to send me a friend request as well so we can potentially trade I believe, name is DLDirtyLarry on the PSN.

I have tried various cars that fit the criteria that is '79 and older...

a few cars I have that fit under that have decent specs, but still can't compete, I can surely outrace the competition, I just need a car that is on par with theirs, here are a few cars that they drive:

Toyota 7 Race Car '70

Chaparral 2J Race Car '70

Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C2) Race Car '63

...

basically any "race car" earlier than 1979 would do, I will add you anyway, even if you do not have anything that will help me atm, if you need a car, let me know!

I just finished this using my '69 Comaro Race Mod. If you need it let me know but I would like it back.

Also do not start the race if the Chaparral 2J Race Car '70 is the start car.

That would be awesome!

Of course I'll give it back!

Edit: thanks for the tip

Working on it. Seems to take a bit once a friend is added. Also on the first track adjust the transmission to a top speed of 199 or so and on the second track adjust the transmission to a top speed of 150 or so. The key is to get out front as fadtbas you can.

Yeah I noticed that as well, no worries, I will for sure get the car back today, and I will have to convert those to km/h :p there are just over 1.6 km in a mile I believe

Sent it back, was just a glitch before. Thanks again. (Y)

And looks like Hellacool is taking care of you Remus. (Y)

If you're unable to win it with the Camaro RM (I wasn't able to do it), then keep your eyes peeled in the used dealership for a Chevrolet Corvette C2 Race Car '63. It's around 800k, then a bit more for any extra mods, but it's definitely capable of winning the races. You need the right lineup though. If there's two Toyota 7 Race Cars in the lineup, you've got no chance of winning. If there's one, you can win it, but on the Trial Mountain race, you need to do a near-perfect run, and have some luck on your side as well, as for most of the race after you get out in front, the Toyota 7 is blocked by the Chaparral 2J. It usually gets past the 2J either on lap 4 or 5. When it does, you need to hold your nerve and not make any mistakes, and also block it on the straights if it gets close enough. The Monaco race is much easier. You can go kamikaze into the first corner and come out either 2nd or 3rd. :p Then you can take the lead during the long left-hander after the climb, then it's much easier to hold the lead, because the track is narrower and much slower. You just need to be slow and delicate on the very tight corners, as the Corvette sometimes has difficulties getting round them.

Thanks, I won the first race no problem, the second one I was actually in first until lap 5, then just near the end one of them managed to pass me, that happened again but on lap 4, I am changing the line up now as I speak, for the first race I was able to come out 1st after first turn, if I can't do that with the second i tend to give up, although I have caught up once or twice. I'll keep going at it for about a half hour, if not then I will look for maybe the 'vette you are talkin 'bout, thanks!

The only way I could beat the second race was turning down the transmission to 150mph then when the race starts head left and then cut across and dive into the first turn hard. You have to cpm out first or the cars will walk away. Once I got 1st I held it.

Yeah that's what I was doing, and I am glad to say I just finished! Stayed in first the entire time, thanks a lot

Oh, and I noticed when you first gave me the car it's chassis needed to be repaired so as an added thank you, I repaired it before sending it back :)

Awesome glad I could help. If you need anything else let me know. Now I am on a path of advancement so I am high enough to buy a race car to beat GT5 all-stars.

I can lend you a car that will kick the **** out of the all-stars if you'd like haha!

edit: it's the '89 Minolta Toyota race car - right now it is clocked in at 1040hp @850kg

PS: don't worry about scratching it up a bit, I already got repair bills of 500k each for the engine/chassis haha

I'm level 20, can I drive it? I'll take it if I can. I just RM'd a ZR1 and it seems to have potential but it may be a handful.

    • An actual cosmic "Eye of Sauron" had been looking straight at us all along by Sayan Sen Image by Kovin P. Vasquez via Pexels | Not representative An international team of researchers has solved a long-standing mystery surrounding a distant blazar known as PKS 1424+240, helping explain why it produces some of the brightest high-energy gamma rays and cosmic neutrinos ever observed despite appearing to have a relatively slow-moving jet. The findings were published on June 6 in Astronomy & Astrophysics Letters. The study addresses a broader challenge in astrophysics: understanding how extreme cosmic objects accelerate particles to very high energies and produce very high-energy (VHE) photons and neutrinos. PKS 1424+240 is located billions of light-years from Earth. It has attracted attention for years because it is both a powerful source of VHE gamma rays and the brightest known neutrino-emitting blazar in the sky, according to observations by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. It is also associated with one of the strongest peaks in IceCube's nine-year neutrino sky map A blazar is a type of active galactic nucleus powered by a supermassive black hole that pulls in surrounding matter and launches jets of plasma moving close to the speed of light. What makes blazars unique is their orientation. One of their jets points almost directly toward Earth, making them appear exceptionally bright across the electromagnetic spectrum and allowing scientists to study some of the most extreme physical processes in the Universe. The scientists exclaimed it's like the 'Eye of Sauron' in deep space. Usually, the brightest gamma-ray-emitting blazars are expected to have jets that appear to move very quickly. However, radio observations of PKS 1424+240 suggested that its jet was moving much more slowly, creating a contradiction that became part of a long-running problem known as the "Doppler factor crisis." To investigate, researchers analyzed 15 years of observations from the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), a network of 10 radio antennas spread across the continental United States, Hawaii and St. Croix. Using a technique called Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), astronomers combine signals from widely separated radio telescopes to create a virtual Earth-sized telescope capable of revealing extremely fine details. The team combined 42 polarization-sensitive radio images collected between 2009 and 2025, creating a much deeper and more detailed view of the jet than had previously been possible. The observations were carried out as part of MOJAVE (Monitoring Of Jets in Active galactic nuclei with VLBA Experiments), a long-running program that studies the brightness, polarization and magnetic field structures of jets produced by active galaxies. The project aims to better understand how activity near supermassive black holes is linked to high-energy radiation and neutrino emission. “When we reconstructed the image, it looked absolutely stunning,” said Yuri Kovalev, lead author of the study and Principal Investigator of the European Research Council-funded MuSES project at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “We have never seen anything quite like it — a near-perfect toroidal magnetic field with a jet, pointing straight at us.” The image revealed an unusual geometry. The researchers found that Earth lies almost directly in line with the jet, with a viewing angle of less than 0.6 degrees. In simple terms, astronomers are looking almost straight down the jet. This turned out to be the key to the mystery. Because the jet is aimed almost directly at Earth, a relativistic effect called Doppler boosting dramatically increases its apparent brightness. The study found that this effect boosts the emission by a factor of about 30 while also making the jet appear slower than it actually is. “This alignment causes a boost in brightness by a factor of 30 or more,” said Jack Livingston, a co-author at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “At the same time, the jet appears to move slowly due to projection effects — a classic optical illusion.” The nearly head-on view also gave scientists a rare look at the jet's magnetic field. Using polarized radio signals, they detected a clear toroidal, or doughnut-shaped, magnetic field component. The observations suggest the jet carries an electric current and that its magnetic field helps launch, shape and stabilize the flow of plasma. Researchers believe this magnetic structure may also play a key role in accelerating particles to energies high enough to produce both gamma rays and neutrinos. “Solving this puzzle confirms that active galactic nuclei with supermassive black holes are not only powerful accelerators of electrons, but also of protons — the origin of the observed high-energy neutrinos,” Kovalev said. The research was conducted under the MuSES (Multi-messenger Studies of Energetic Sources) project, which investigates how active galactic nuclei accelerate particles and generate different cosmic signals, including light and neutrinos. Scientists say understanding how protons are accelerated and linked to neutrino production remains one of the major unanswered questions in astrophysics. The findings help explain why some blazars can appear to have slow jets while still producing extremely bright high-energy emissions. More broadly, the study strengthens the link between relativistic jets, magnetic fields, gamma rays and high-energy neutrinos. Researchers say the results provide new clues about how some of the Universe's most powerful natural particle accelerators work and offer important insights for multimessenger astronomy, which combines different types of cosmic signals to study extreme events in space.
