Not long now! :)

Even though I'm selling my PS3 in two weeks I put GT5 in my lovefilm to-rent lists. If it arrives before I sell my PS3 then wahay! If not then no biggie as I'm not a fan of racing games. I do feel that it would be criminal to not try this game though. Tempted to buy F1 2010 and then trade it in at HMV to get GT5 for a fiver. Then sell GT5 when I sell my PS3?

Weak, just watched a video comparing premium and "used" cars and there is no interior view for used cars?

I can understand not wanting to model 1000s of car dashboards but you get used to driving in one view then you get a car that doesnt have interior and you are forced out of the car, that would get irritating very quickly.

As the video stated even the PSP version has interior view though there is no dash you can only see the A pillars and the bonnet/hood but it still is more or less the same view as you would be getting in a premium car.

For a game that has been this long in development i would have expected the game to be a bit more polished.

Maybe they didn't want to spoil it using a generic cockpit though? I don't know their reasonings behind it. I guess I will just use the normal camera though which is the front of car one with no cockpit.

I'm disappointed too, even more so with no bonet cam as this is my prefered view. But since this is not the case and no interier for all cars then its a major blow. I don't understand why they didn't just model a generic interier for the standard cars.... :pinch:

As for why they modelled no generic cockpit, it's PD, they aren't modelling a ****ty cockpit into a car.

I'll have to admit, playing around on GT5P with the steering wheel, my times aren't suffering as bad I thought. :) I did a quick time trial last night round London in the Ferrari F2007 (manual gears, only stability management turned on), and my best time with the wheel was about 44.6 seconds. Then I switched to the controller (switched to automatic gears as well), and after about the same amount of laps, I did a 42.5. But I'm gonna stick with the wheel, as I just didn't like playing with the controller straight after using the wheel. The triggers, and the analog sticks on the controller are not sensitive enough, and it just didn't feel right anymore.

I think I've been converted. I'm actually keeping a steering wheel for once. :)

Cause the fact is they only had 33 3D modelers to do cars, 2 to do environments and they couldn't do 1031 fully rendered cars. People would still complain about a generic interior in all 800 standard cars.

Grrrrr, jealous :p

I so wish I'd bought the G25 on Play for ?99.

I'm still trying the gameluckycodes or whatever it is called for a ?10 voucher for the GT wheel!

The G25 would probably be overkill for me. :p I might end up only using the Driving Force GT on the PS3, as I tried it on the PC, and it was hit-and-miss. The Logitech software had a profile for GRID, so I tried that, but the controls weren't set, so I had to go and manually do it, then when I played it, it didn't feel that good. Almost no force feedback at all. Similar story with GTR Evolution as well, but the profile they had for it was messed up, as it assigned an invisible button to the clutch, so when I played, I couldn't accelerate. :p Once I fixed that though, it felt alright. The force feedback was pretty good, but I was terrible at it, as GT5P is a completely different monster. :p

Bizarre side note, the software also had a steering wheel profile for Deus Ex.

I'm still doing The Lucky Gamer as well, so if I come across a ?10 voucher, you can have it. ;)

BTW, if you've got a Google Mail/GMail email, there's a little trick you can do with it:

Insert a "." anywhere in between your username when entering the email address, and it'll count as a new email, so depending on how long your username is, you can end up getting loads of codes every day! You can also double the amount by using "@googlemail.com" instead of "@gmail.com"! :p

Are PD the only people that are going to be playing it?

No. Any creator of media who is just creating whatever form of media for themselves or in a way that only they think is good is bad business sense but this will still sell bucketloads which is kind of sad. Adding a simple interior view of just forward of the dashboard so you cant see it is preferable to driving outside of the car and this is one of the reasons why i will be renting instead of buying.

I'm not going to argue with you, just stating that PD are clearly not going to model something into a car that's not representative of it's actual interior.

Is there? I haven't seen a video showing this, yes there is a bumper view (or a view from the frount of the car), and a roof cam, interier and from the back of the car. I have yest to see a bonet view.

I wouldn't mind a generic interier for standard cars, its always prefered over nothing at all.

I'm probably thinking of roof cam, sorry.

True, now you just need to lower your standards to 800 "extra" cars is better than nothing :p

I have just been on Parcelforce's tracking website and they have got my tracking number a day and a half earler than what Game originally said and I have got the "Express 24" service, although they do not know where my parcel is (the track my parcel page is blank). So hopefully I should get my Signature Edition tomorrow. :D

The hell?

That is what I thought when I saw that pic on GTPlanet's Twitter account this morning.

    • Ladybird Browser is no longer accepting outside contributions thanks to AI by David Uzondu The Ladybird Browser Project has announced it will no longer accept public pull requests and will limit changes to those made by its maintainers as it works towards its first alpha release. According to Ladybird's creator Andreas Kling, this is "not a change we make lightly," but the rapid shift in AI capabilities forced their hand. Previously, a massive PR implied that the person behind it put a lot of care into the code and is ready to "answer for the consequences." Now with AI, anyone can generate a PR without even understanding the bug fix or feature they want merged. The blog post goes on to say that the team is closing all open public pull requests immediately, and that maintainers will not treat external forks as a review queue for upstream Ladybird. Instead, the team wants outside contributors to focus on reporting bugs and running tests. Kling started Ladybird back in 2019 as LibHTML, a simple HTML viewer for his hobby operating system, SerenityOS, but by September 2022, it had turned into a full-fledged browser project. What sets Ladybird apart from the likes of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Mozilla Firefox is its totally independent engine, which does not rely on pre-existing codebases. The project maintains a strict policy against default search engine deals or user data monetization, keeping development funded entirely by donations and sponsorships. Generative AI is forcing open source project maintainers to rethink how they handle public code contributions (and the whole open-source thing in general). One month ago, a leak about the National Health Service (NHS) suggested the organization was planning to take all of its public repositories private ahead of a May 11 deadline, thanks to Mythos (an AI model that Anthropic believes is too dangerous to be released to the public) and its ability to find and write exploits for zero-day vulnerabilities. Thankfully, the Government Digital Service (GDS) issued a counter-report titled "AI, open code and vulnerability risk in the public sector" that stopped the shutdown by pointing out that hiding code does not improve security.

    • I like the show more options. The only problem with it is that it's not always in a consistent spot in the menu. If the copy/paste/cut, happens to show on top, then more option is the last in the menu. But if copy/paste/cut happens to show on the bottom, then more options is before the copy/paste/cut. But I do like the more options because it hides the stuff that I rarely use. But I would like to choose what it is or isn't hiding. That would make it better.
    • I wonder if "put it back the way it was for decades" ever crossed their minds? 🤣
    • Rescind the stupid "Show more options" in context menus and just give us the full menu instead of adding more steps to get to what we want. The "simpler by default" makes me think they'll go in the opposite direction. Every context menu should have a configure button so you can pick and choose what options should be shown, I know you can do that with some registry fu but that shouldn't be required.
