Yeah... he would have beat me, had he warped in something other than cannons. He only used cannons which are easy to avoid. By the time he figured out the cannons weren't working I had my army built up enough to kill off the 5 or so zealots he had. I bet he was really proud of himself at first.

Like Sikh said, if you were not prepared for that rush and he failed to kill you, he did it horribly wrong. Unless you are Terran, he would have blocked you in your base before you knew he was there (and if you were terran, you would have to still relocate by flying your CC away due to him blocking any proper expansion).

In short, the guy was a noob or made a mistake by not blocking off the entrances to your base before pushing in on you. If he had done that, he would have been able to close in on you slowly, keeping your expansion to a minimum and backing you into a corner.

But, I haven't played SC2 multiplayer, so I have no idea how effect cannons are anymore.

<snip>

Pft.....I use to fight 3-4 Zerg at a time as protoss in SC....granted I never turned the difficulty above Easy for each one of them, it wasn't that bad...

Well not always. If we play I'll show you a true toss proxy. Learned by myself and from the best.

If done properly, army assistance isn't needed as a proxy shouldn't let you build at all.

id like to see that. whats your bnet id? im always looking to better myself.

Well he started by putting his pylon in the far corner of my base behind the smoke. And then proceded to slowly move outwards with his cannons. By the time he got anywhere near my command center I had 2 barracks up and at that point he should have GG'd out. But he wanted to be an ******* about it by making cannons all over the map so I had to clear them out to get the win. And yeah, he was a noob. Even more than me.

Ok I agree with the previous post. Even if you are a noob.

DO NOT DO PRACTICE LEAGUE. Its so ****ing lame. Actual strategy is no use. Its all about who amasses the biggest army of thors first. Lost every practice league match(only won one purely because of a teammate in 2v2), then skipped it into placement and won a couple 1v1 handily with only far less units units. Practice league is lame.

On a 2009 Mbp 15" with a 9400 it plays well at 1024 with low/med settings balanced.

Razor LMAO

What? That's pretty lame. On my my Vaio FW it plays great at 1920x1080 and medium settings.

Would have thought the "most advanced laptop in the world" would be more powerful :shiftyninja:

+1

If you're in the Edmonton Alberta area there's a SC2 1v1 tourney coming up on Aug.28 at Absolute Power.

That's how I cheese'd my way out of bronze for 1v1 was to do quick proxy cannon rush. Laugh people try and do it to me and fail.

Do you guys think there is any chance my laptop will be able to run starcraft 2? Here are the specs:

Intel? Core?2 Duo CPU P9600??@ 2.53GHz

4GB System Memory

Intel X4500MHD Graphics Card <--- the problem?

120GB Intel SSD

To be honest it only may be able to do so on the lowest settings.

I'm getting absolutely raped online, and in the Practice League at that :pinch: I'm 5 and 23 right now in 1v1.

StarCraft is the only RTS I've ever played, and I haven't touched the game in 8 years. I'm finding it really difficult to compete against others who have a lot more experience. Kinda irks me that some people, who clearly aren't beginners, stick to playing in the Practice League.

The game is great (I'm enjoying the campaign), but it's hard to have fun when you spend 30 minutes playing only to have your entire army decimated in 2 minutes... over and over again.

To those looking for ways to improve, you should check out Day[9]'s videos. He casts replays from various players and analyzes the strategies involved. There is a large archive of videos and he casts new ones every few days. Some of them do get a little in depth, but helpful if you can follow.

Husky and/or HDStarcraft (both found on YouTube) are other popular casters, but mainly exist for entertainment purposes and don't discuss game tactics too much.

It might be a nerdy thing to do but if you're playing Starcraft 2 isn't that already nerdy enough as it is?

So I just found out about the ending to WoL (no, didn't play through the game quite yet heh) and yowza.

Did Blizz jump the gun on that already or what? I mean, if you look at it one way, it's only been one game so far. But it's also been 12 years between said first game. But Raynor saving Kerrigan and her changing back to Human seems a bit quick don't it? Reading some of the comments for the next two...uh expansions? most people seem to think that Kerrigan will keep her link to the Zerg and control them and use them to help save the Universe from the Xalnaga or whatever they are called. Especially when one of the two...games coming out...is called Heart of the Swarm and is directly about the Zerg no? But without Kerrigan running things? Or will she still be the Queen of Blades, since the "prophecy" doesn't specify whether the Queen of Blades HAS to be Zerg, right?

OK, confused. Done. Oy.

My temps are fine. I'm running a 3870 with a zalman cooler.

The thing is, it never happens during the game. It only happens when I leave the game in the menu/console.

I finish a b.net battle, go for a smoke, and come back 2 minutes later (too early for my windows sleep setting to kick in) only to find my PC in permanent state of non-responsiveness :D

    • Edifier S3000MKII hi-fi audiophile grade bookshelf speaker is at its lowest price now by Sayan Sen Yesterday we covered a bunch of Dolby Atmos soundbar deals with several ones from Sony, as well as from JBL, Samsung, Polk Audio, and more. You can check them out in this dedicated piece. Those are not audiophile category speakers though as they are built with home theater use in mind. If you are searching for the former then Edifier has its S3000MKII at its lowest price at the moment (purchase link under the specs table down below). This is a two-way bookshelf monitor speaker designed to produce accurate sound. While it may not produce the best high-fidelity audio possible out there, it should still be significantly better than what you will get on soundbars of this price range. As such it will do justice to high-res audio played back through it. The only thing that may feel lacking is sub-bass as Edifier claims the unit can go down to 38 Hz, which should be enough for studio monitor purposes, but not for deep room-shaking rumbling bass. Where this does excel though is in its treble reproduction. With its super-tweeter, it claims to go as high as 40 kHz in the frequency spectrum, which should offer a sense of "air"yness. This is an active speaker which means it packs its own amplfication. It has a top-notch Class D amp that may be able to rival many Class AB designs too in terms of sound reproduction quality. The technical specs of the Edifier S3000MKII are given in the table below: Specification Value RMS Output Power 256W RMS (Treble: 8W × 2, Mid-Low: 120W × 2) Tweeter Driver 107mm × 107mm Planar Magnetic Tweeter Mid-Low Driver 6.5-inch (179mm) Long-Throw Aluminum Diaphragm Driver Frequency Response 38Hz – 40kHz Signal-to-Noise Ratio ≥ 85dB (A) Bluetooth Version Bluetooth 5.0 Bluetooth Codec Qualcomm® aptX™ HD Wireless Speaker Link Proprietary 5.8GHz wireless connection between speakers Supported Hi-Res Audio Hi-Res Audio Certified, up to 24-bit/192kHz Digital Processing XMOS XU216 Digital Signal Processor Audio Inputs Balanced XLR, Optical, Coaxial, USB Type-B, Line In, Bluetooth Input Sensitivity (USB) 400 ± 50mFFs Input Sensitivity (Optical) 400 ± 50mFFs Input Sensitivity (Coaxial) 400 ± 50mFFs Input Sensitivity (Bluetooth) 450 ± 50mFFs Input Sensitivity (Balanced XLR) 1000 ± 50mV Input Sensitivity (Line In) 600 ± 50mV ADC Capability Up to 24-bit/192kHz DSP Capability Up to 24-bit/192kHz DIX Capability Up to 24-bit/216kHz DAC Capability Up to 32-bit/384kHz XMOS Processing Power Up to 2,000 MIPS Edifier S3000MKII Audiophile Active (Powered) Wireless Speakers: $799.99 (Sold by Edifier US, Shipped by Amazon US) If you do not have the kind of budget to spend on the S3000MKII, you can also check out the Edifier R1280Ts which is right now on sale at just $114 (its lowest price in a very long time).
