The maps look awesome! Why didn't they have any of these interactive maps with Black Ops  (Breakable Pathway, Zipline and other stuff.)

Well at least now it makes them game interesting again! It's like a whole new MP ;)

But yes, would have been cool to have some of those features in the original release, would have really set it apart.

How about everyone has their good and bad game streaks? I am a horrible sniper with anything but bolt action, but still am a good player, not one of the "top" but I do well enough. Check out my file share on Black Ops.

Try out the PSG-1. It might be statistically similar to the L96A1, but seeing as it's semi-automatic I find it a worthwhile weapon purchase. While the recoil still stops it being handled in the same manner as the Dragunov or WA2000, it can still work for you. It has a low rate of fire cap, which is disappointing, but at the same time, it might just be enough to save you in a tight situation where you can't change to your secondary in time.

I tried out the Dragunov with Infrared today, and was pleasantly surprised. The Dragunov is relatively effective, and it works most of the time. The IR Scope is something you don't see often, and while it is most definitely not as good as the Thermal Scope in Modern Warfare 2, I did not mind using it. It was bearable at the very least. It certainly felt better online than it did during its usage in Campaign. It doesn't seem as short-ranged, though considering the situation it was used in, I am not exactly surprised by that. The L96A1 is undoubtedly the most popular sniper rifle online, but to be honest, it seems that the bolt action rifles are always the most popular choices in the franchise. Modern Warfare's M40A3 (and to a lesser extent, the R700), basically all of World at War's weaponry, and the Intervention. I love finding 'quickscopers' online though: watching them spin around like fairies before firing is the most satisfying thing you can possibly do.

Yeah the WA2000 is not for me no matter how many times I practice with it. I honestly just prefer bolt action snipers because I'm more experienced with them. I understand too about the weapon swapping, which is why I think Scout Pro is awesome. However, I am always conflicted because I love my Hardened Pro for my sniper class and this is the reason I rarely snipe. I'm more of a Galil person. Was an obsessed FAMAS fan until Black Ops, I find that even with Steady Aim Pro and only tapping the trigger, it's not what I'd like it to be...miss me some 3 round burst, but I refuse to use the M16 because the handling isn't that great for a person like me.

Yeah, it's a shame the WA2000 has been so badly crippled in this game. It was pretty decent in Modern Warfare 2, IMO. It was identical in its handling to the Call of Duty 4 Dragunov, except for the magazine size. The Black Ops version of the WA2000 really makes it utterly useless. I've shot people three times with it and yielded only 'hitmarkers', so I dislike how it feels in-game. It also doesn't look as good as it did, so I can't even say I chose it for aesthetic reasons. The model of FAMAS in-game is fully automatic, with virtually non-existent recoil. It's probably one of the easiest guns in the game to control when being fired fully automatic - firing it in bursts is not necessary. While I say this, I do fire in bursts myself. I tend to 'extend' the bursts with the FAMAS though - I hold the trigger longer than I would with other weapons during a burst.

The M16 is inconsistent in my experience as well. I've had it take down a target with full health in one burst, sometimes two bursts, and sometimes three. It is a decent weapon, but you feel less accurate as you'll always follow up with another burst out of uncertainty. The G11 feels like a better all-round weapon, but the M16 has a longer range before the damage drops off or something. The rate at which the G11 can pump out bursts is impressive though, and seeing as Treyarch use the same iron sights on several weapons, it's a weapon you can immediately be at ease with. The Galil was probably my favorite assault rifle in the game as well, at a time. It was effective, accurate, and packs a great punch. I've since started using the AUG though. I'm not really sure why I choose the AUG over the FAMAS (they're similar, but the FAMAS has lower recoil while the AUG has a faster raise time or something), but I know it works for me.

I'm am also unsure of how it happens, but if you watch videos in my file share online where I use the FAMAS, I kill people faster with burst than full auto, still the Galil is my most preferred Assault Rifle in the game hands down, extremely reliable for me. It's so reliable, I no longer even need Hardened Pro for it. However, when using the FAMAS, I always use Hardened Pro. Also, yes, the WA2000 was better on Modern Warfare 2 because I actually could kill people even if I got a few hit markers here and there. Now on Black Ops the WA2000 is pretty annoying and I have no earthly idea how people use it so well. If I didn't have a choice, and had to run around with a WA2000, I'd rather pull out my sidearm and run around with it, end of story.

Has anyone else ran into many griefers on the 360 version? I just had someone on my team block our entire spawn point in on one map (I can't recall the name... Hanoi maybe?). He did it multiple times, and there was no way to get out. Talk about ****ing annoying.

So far, though, I have to say the community is much more tolerable than Halo: Reach's. Most people don't even use mics, which is fine with me. I mean, I'd prefer good communication, but I'll take no communication over the insensate "communication" that goes on in Reach.

I don't get how you would not be able to get out of the spawn area in Hanoi. I imagine you are spawning in the building by train tracks? Where you sometimes (not always do you) spawn inside the building but not at the start of the game. The building has 4 ways to get out of it--2 windows, 2 doors, and 3 ways to get into it (via the back window by climbing the boxes outside). You're entire team wouldn't all spawn in there though, or when you start the game.

I've rarely seen random people communicate ever in a COD title, and I've been playing since it came only on PC many years ago. Randoms just never communicate, and rarely, ever, have a mic even plugged in. Also now with Black Ops, you see more people in Xbox Live Parties too.

Now if you are playing in a party/friends/whomever, then sure, sometimes you may get that every now and again. It would also depend on your group of friends too, I know not everyone is going to bother with this and just not care to. My friends do this but it's not at all on a constant basis, we prefer not to talk but we do sometimes communicate if an enemy is wherever or what not. We also don't have to as much as we constantly have UAV or Blackbird up anyways to where it's even more unnecessary plus we are all great players.

LOL @ calling yourself "one of the top players" despite the fact that you're also making uneducated guesses at the playing abilities of the other players on Neowin.

Pot kettle black.

Like I said, I have played with quite a few players on Neowin, so my statement is largely educated. If the original poster were to have played with me, I felt a statement like that would have been more reasonable if true.

You haven't played with every single Neowin user that has Black Ops on the 360.

So don't complain about someone judging you if you're going to do the same damn thing.

I said I think it was Hanoi. I don't know.

We were in an enclosed area. It was all walled in (white bricked in), and it had a single exit -- and he stood there, refusing to let anyone out every single time we spawned there. It was impossible to get out. Do you think I'm just making this up for ****s and giggles or something? As far as the communication -- I'm used to playing Call of Duty on the PC, for the most part.

Turnabout is fair play. I'm sure you would be frustrated as well if somebody questioned your ability on something.

With a better description now, you were at the other spawn point on the map, Hanoi, inside the small courtyard--if you want to call it that. I guess at that point you wait till someone comes along, and kills him. Which you should easily be able to get the other teams attention by shooting your weapon (as long as not silenced) or some other way. You could also just leave the game right away at that point and hopefully the others with you leave too, that way it's just him wasting his own time.

I never said you were making it up since I more than well know there are people like that out there in that way or another.

It's quite sad actually though that people do this. I always love people who decide till the game starts to actually leave the game most of the time during the countdown but sometimes within a second after the match starts. Then you also get those people who (for us--against them) that leave when they are getting slaughtered as always. Then when that happens, there is always 1 or 2 people that still left that actually won't quit the game when they have no chance of winning against us. Who knows what goes through these peoples minds, obviously they are messed up in one way or another to even bother doing any of this many scenarios.

I wouldn't proclaim to be the best on Neowin if someone questioned my ability.

FWIW, AWBrian (he changed his u/n to Soldier ##) is known to make inane comments, so take his 'questioning' of your ability with a grain of salt.

I realize people could be offended if I said "the best" which I clearly did not. My action was clearly natural given my position and ability, hence I felt capable of making that comment. You have made your position known and I respect you for that.

I was unaware that Brian changed his name.

Anyway, MP, I was going to hop on tonight and I'll be on tomorrow so I can definitely see if there's a way to get around the issue with the WA2000 on Black Ops. Also for the person asking about the spawn camping, it's not exactly likely that they would keep spawning you in the same place more than 2-3 times. What game type were you playing?

Edited because my previous material was pointless. XD

Yeah he did it a couple days ago. I was like 'who the f is that' and then looked at profile and saw it was him :p.

Lots of them, to a point I don't play the game without friends now.

I don't really have any problems with griefers on 360, I have noticed that alot of people are sporting golden guns even though they've only been through one or two prestiges. I think people are running private lobbys to get them much like the prestige lobbys of MW2.

Ha ha ha Solider, thanks but I am probably one of the top players on Neowin (360 wise). DirtyLarry and a few others can vouch for that. Please do not make uneducated guesses at my playing ability unless you have a chance to play with me.

Sniping is not and will not be a game changer in Domination or Demolition.

I've added you as a friend. :p

As for sniping, it's changed so much that a lot of people prefer not to use it. It's not as easy as it was in Modern Warfare 2. Of course, that doesn't mean you can't do good with a sniper rifle. I enjoy using the Dragunov on maps like Array and Jungle.

Some days or rounds I am on the money getting kills left and right, but some rounds I am terrible. :( I used to be so good with the GALIL, but lately I have sucked with it and changed to the ak74u and have been having good rounds. What guns are you guys using?

Rock either m14, fal, famas or ak74u all dependent on mood and map.

I prefer the semi but will resort to one if the others if my accuracy or reaction time is off.

I do like (and thismay not be new) how they've incorporated the 3 minutes wait for using the grenade launcher.

Early meant 3 second

    • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two. Poll Poll: How much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost? $59.99 $69.99 $79.99 $89.99 $100 or more Submit Vote If you have a very specific prediction in mind, sound off in the comments below.
