That's more than likely fake. People are doing it on Reddit - they're going to beta.guildwars2.com/account/done and just taking a screenshot.

If he just revealed that he's in beta, he's already broken the NDA and he'll be kicked out.

As of a couple of hours ago, the guildwars2 twitter account said that no beta invites had been sent out to members of the public yet, only press.

Actually not true.. they did start sending them out and will continue to do so "over the next few days".

I would like to say "I better get one or else..." but lets face it, I'm buying this game no matter what. :s

I'd still say that, regardless of buying it. Cause after 5 years i've gotten a little impatient.

5 years with hundreds of dollars and thousands of hours invested into GW1(I checked a week or so ago, over 2400 hours  ). It would be nice if they could somehow give a bonus "chance" if you've had an account with all expansions on, ce versions, as well.

Really though, while I will be really disappointed if I don't get in I wouldn't mind it so much.

I've thought something kinda similar. I thought that those who played and supported gw1(a moderate to large amount) before gw2 was announced(2005/2006) should have slightly higher chances in beta invites.

As for hours of gw1... Mines, uh, over 50% higher than yours. (yeah, i played too much back then in 2006-2008, lol)

The last beta I was accepted into that was a closed beta that was actually CLOSED was um... well never. Yet I apply for all of them, and keep my system info up to date, along with account info and subscription. So not getting in to GW2 beta would be a "meh" situation. I'll buy it when it comes out and call it good.

It's almost here.

Good to see that the download client hasn't changed at all from the first game. http://i.imgur.com/eBG6X.jpg

You can still create a shortcut to it and add the useful commands like the "-image" one.

No, I'm pretty sure the invites have finished going out now.

Yea, I am thinking the same, they want to get everyone ready for the Beta release. That way everyone will hit the server hard instead of all having to download and waste in-game time.

The game is pretty expensive ?50.00 in the UK just for the standard edition. CE is ?129.99 and the Deluxe Digital edition is ?64.99.

I think I'll wait until the game has released before I pick up a copy I'm not willing to bet ?50.00 that the game will be good.

No one has confirmed prices yet. These are RRP from NCSoft - direct from them in the case of the digital versions, and suggested retail price for the CE. This is always the case - publishers charge way more than retailers do. Look at how much Microsoft charge for new PC games on GFWL.

Wait til April 10th when proper retailers are able to sell pre-purchase packs and pre-orders, the price will be more like normal.

    • If built properly, swapping out the backend should be an easy task, but as the article points out, it's just Apple not wanting to do this.
    • Microsoft's new Xbox Shutdown change promises massive power efficiency gains by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft has been delivering a lot of changes for Xbox Insiders to test in recent weeks, and today, another wave of changes aimed at consoles was announced. The latest drop is testing features that let users find mutual friends easier, customize their UI, and streamline wishlisting. When looking at an Xbox friend's profile, an option will appear to see mutual friends, perhaps to get a refresher on how you know that person. This will depend on the privacy settings. The same applies to when checking the profile of a person who is not in the friends list, offering a quick way to find out if this is a known connection. Next, Microsoft is giving the option to change how the 'Home' and 'Games & Apps' sections show off available games. There is a new poster style that users can enable for an "immersive library experience." "We’ve also made personalization settings easier to navigate and customize by separating Home and My Games & apps into separate sections," adds the company. "And to make personalization even more accessible, we’ve added new shortcuts throughout menus, so you can quickly jump in and tailor your XBOX experience the way you want." Moreover, heading to the store page of an unreleased game will now offer players the option to wishlist directly from the game card. Lastly, Microsoft is making a change to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles that are in Sleep mode, making them use the more energy-saving 'Shutdown' mode instead automatically. The company says this can increase power savings by up to 20 times without impacting "performance, gameplay, or your ability to receive system, games or apps updates overnight." The only down side seems to be a longer startup time that can take up to 45 seconds. The setting was originally introduced in 2023, and this is only the latest update to it. The power option can be changed from the console settings at any time. This Xbox Insider update is rolling out today to select members of the program. As usual, Microsoft aims to bring it to more Insiders over time before they reach all Xbox owners. Head here to find out how to join the Xbox Insider Program to get a chance to test these features and upcoming ones on both consoles and PC.
    • 2 was a fun game but felt a bit shallow, like not enough there. I hope this expansion fixes that.
    • I haven't paid for windows since windows 8. So I guess I would be happy to pay for a new version if it meant seeing fewer adverts (none) or product pushes. But that applies to _any_ service or OS.
