Does it look scripted? Sure. Whatever. Everyone's gotta remember that what you're looking at is all pre-alpha. The game's not coming out till 2012. I'm sure there will be user prompts and direction indicators in the final build.

But I really REALLY hope there will be no hud

I don't remember many games providing this much footage early in the development cycle. The developers are probably just as blown away with what they're developing that they are too excited and wanted to share it with the public.

Also, this was the same footage that was behind closed doors last month when they announced the game.

2012........ :|

Game does look good but it is a long wait!

You know, this type of game needs some sorta hud or onscreen info. Health aside, since you have no health bar, you still need info about ammo, and which power/how much power (magic juice) you have left. Playing without any onscreen info at all would be crazy.

There are bound to be some HUD elements, however they probably weren't included for the purpose of demonstration. I'd much rather focus on the gameplay mechanics rather than UI stuff.

Well ya, for this scripted demo vid no hud is a given, but I'm just saying to all the people who are asking for no hud in the game itself period, I think it's crazy. You do need some info at the least, and I don't think what bioshock had was too much or got in the way of gameplay.

Just make it optional, I prefer no HUD whatsoever.

This is MADNESS!

Serously how do you tell how much ammo you have etc?

You count it in your head? That's why I play Hardcore mode in most games, I want no hud or crosshair whatsoever. When you played long enough, you just 'know' how many bullets you roughly got left etc.

It could easily be something on the gun displaying the ammo count a different way, you could turn off the HUD on Killzone 2, felt far more realistic and immerse not having to stare at some counter at the bottom of the screen and was generally really groovy, or in Dead Space the health meter is an integrated part of your armour as opposed to a HUD element on the screen.

So there are generally plenty of ways of doing, just finding the right way, but also the option to is great for those of us who like to toy around with it.

I know you can do that and it's really cool, but Sethos was talking about turning it off in games which don't have this feature.

Looks like it's using the same engine as B 1. Darn.

I would love to see Rapture in the Crytek engine; a truly disgusting and foreboding environment.

No. **** graphics. It should ALWAYS be about gameplay.

The Unreal Engine 3 is more than enough for now, in graphics terms and is still perfect for this game. Just look at Half-Life 2. It did way better than the graphics ###### that was Crysis.

It isnt about graphics people; Its about gameplay and there were Bioshock (with its story as well) brings it.

Sad we have to wait until 2012....The game is problably done but they still have to do the great story behind it.

BTW, I just saw the 10 minute gameplay...............My thoughts:

Holy ****.

I'm going to wait for the reviews to come in on this. They're going to have to have a seriously excellent bad guy to top Andrew Ryan and his 100% buy in to Ayn Rand's philosophy. I might work, but I'll let someone else plunk down $60 on it (and wait for it to drop to $30 like everything else does within 3 months of release).

    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
