Im guessing im about 1/2 way ( As Ive collected half the objects sight ) Dropped mouse speed to lowest as its way too fast and find V odd for meley but otherwise really enjoying it. Great music And sound. Set design is really impressive, Lots to stand and look at or read, but nothing is forced.

a few games are starting to do that with melee for some reason, Borderlands is like that too, V is melee and F is to activate your power (i usually swap the two)

The controls on console are just as strange.

Melee is Triangle, scope in is R3. I'd rather have scope in be like L2 or R2, and R3 be assigned to switching ****.

melee as triangle is weird but scope as R3 isn't that unusual (i prefer scope as L2 myself for shooters on a controller but I know quite a few games that have it as R3)

Ok i just read this and have benchmarked before and after.

Turn Ambient Occlusion off in-game, and turn it on in the NVIDIA control panel.

I went for Quality in Nvidia general setting and WOW. Average fps from 50 to 100.

Hmmm, might have to check that out. Although I have to say, it runs pretty damn amazing with everything on Ultra. It pretty much stays at 60 FPS (I have VSync Enabled), so it usually only drops when I am clearly entering a new area and it is loading in the background and/or when I am outdoors and a whole lot is going on.

I will say this. I love the style of the visuals. The overall art style is absolutely phenomenal.

But, the engine does definitely show it's age. It still looks very good, but the two games I have most recently played on the PC is Crysis 3 and BF3, so seeing those games in action then this one, yeah, the engine shows its age.

At the end of the day, it is all irrelevant, as it is the gameplay that matters most IMO, and I am only about 90 minutes in

(still have not met up with Elizabeth),

and so far the game is absolutely brilliant. The details are pretty much unparalleled. I am sure I could have met up with her much sooner then I have, but I am truly stopping and searching every single inch, so it is taking me some time to get through it obviously.

Bioshock 1 and Infinite weren't made by the same people who made Bioshock 2. The publisher just pushed out a quick sequel to cash in on the popularity of the first one.

I know. I wasn't even a huge fan of 1, I just like 2 less. Listening to people babble about how awesome they are is not really my thing.

1/2 were using modified UT2004 engine. This is the UE3 engine. I run it on low settings so I can't really say how good/bad the full textures look but I mean it still looks pretty damn good.

I still have not beaten it yet, but I think I'm near the end.

I'm at the part where on the zepplin having to defend it with songbird.

Gets pretty rough trying to continue on hard difficulty.

I just played the first 15 minutes. At this moment i feel a little bad for buying this. They were touting the immersive world, even in the review. What you get is an old engine with characters that move like plastic dolls. Hexagonal balloons and beds of flowers that date from the year 2000. This is on max setting. The NPCs in the world don't seem to be aware of the player. Certain triggers start a 2 line conversation or sometimes a character tracks you with his plastic head. Immersion feels far gone. It might all be about the gameplay but this plastic feeling kills it for me.

I was waiting for this game but after playing it for 20 minutes i felt like watching some TV. Maybe it gets more immersive later on. I'll give it another try tomorrow. Just my 2 cents.

Honestly I could say the same about skyrim tbh. :/ ZOMG HOW DARE YOU BEST GAME EVER /s

Bioshock 1 had a better story but 2 had better combat.

They were both enjoyable but yea story was obviously better when Ken was involved. 2's combat was only "better" simply because plasmids were left handed and didn't have to switch from using your gun to use them.

The game doesn't start until you really reach her... but you are right. It does take a while for you to even reach her.

I played for about 6 hours last night. Had a blast the entire time. And agian, the fighting in this game isn't anything to wow over, but everything else is. Even on console, the animations, atmosphere, sound, and lighting are all top notch. Every place looks amazing and mysterious. Had a friend come over and take over playing for an hour as well. He instantly fell in love with it, and he was all hating the game before it launched. There is just something about it that makes you want to explore and understand the history.

Just tried the game with the Pulse Elite Headphones and the special Bioshock Infinite setting.... Amazing.

Whenever Booker gets excited, you feel his heart beat. When listening to messages or people, it's like you can sense his tension or anxiety. Really helps you get immersed into the game.

While the game sounds great both ways, I might just play the rest with the headphones. It does add some extra immersion that even full 7.1 surround can't offer.

I just completed the game and all I have to say is WOW! Words can't even describe how awesome the ending is.

The ending gave me a headache.... I don't think I fully grasp it's meaning.

I probably played another hour after I posted this, and I still never reached her.

I really do take my sweet time with games like this, plus the damn

turrets are a HUGE pain in the ass

. Anyone have any good combos for taking them out quickly? Keep in mind I am near the beginning of the game, so all I currently have at my disposal are

a pistol, a machine gun, and 2 vigors, possession and the fire bombs.

Going to probably play a little bit right now before dinner, then really get in to playing after dinner. Hoping to put in a good 2-3 hours tonight.

The turrets will always be a problem. I still haven't found any solution better than, Possession + blasting the **** out of it with my gun.

Possession will at least keep the turret from firing on you, and then just kill it as it kills your enemies. Still have to waste ammo though.

What I've been doing to keep the game tough, because since you have a regening shield and such... is that I'm putting all the vials I find into my "Salt" storage. I haven't put a single bottom into health or shield. This way, I'm still powerful, but enemies will still remain a threat. I don't want to end up being way to strong and taking the fights for granted. With this path, and I've almost maxed out my Salt Guage, I find battles still a challenge, but can have a lot of fun blasting everything.

Best combo I've been able to pull off is with Crow Traps and Devils Kiss. Set the crows on fire and let them set other people on fire as they peck out their eyes :p

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
