Is it out yet? No? Ok :(

Why does time crawl when awesome games are on the horizon

Only a week (or four days if you're from NA) left. And it's really a short time, if you count the time that some people waited for another Mafia game since finishing the first one... back in 2002.

Here's the full song list for anyone who wants to get a head-start with the listening;

"Mafia II has an impressive song list - the largest in 2K Games history, in fact. Want to know every track you'll hear in Empire Bay? They are all here!"

Track List

I also found out,

you get to play a part of the story involving Vito in WW2, probably the introduction to the game and Vito - That is so sweet!

Watched the stream yesterday and it's how you start the game. It's the tutorial section of handling weapons and introducing you to the power of the mafia.

That is sweet, I love when developers do that - really helps to immerse yourself in the story and character.

Once you have the game, you can listen/convert the tracks.

Play Mafia 2 Radio Music

The recently released Mafia 2 Demo has given us a taster of the great soundtrack that has been chosen to showcase the 50′s era of which the game is set in. I?ve played the demo to death and naturally some of those catchy songs are now stuck in my mind but the 50′s side of my music collection is a little lacking. How on earth am I going to listen to some of those great songs outside the game?

Forum member Sonix notes that free Java based MusicPlayerEx can play Mafia?s music files straight from Mafia! Simply head over to the MusicPlayerEx?s homepage and download (or start the web version) and add whatever songs take your fancy from:

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\mafia ii -- public demo\pc\sds\music\

The songs are in FSB format and MusicPlayerEx will not only play the files but also allow you to convert them to MP3! My guess is that tip will also work for the soon due full version of Mafia so get ready to enjoy some more of that 50′s music!

For anyone that's interested I put together a Spotify playlist of the OST...

A few songs missing but it's pretty complete.

nice one. the music's just helping me get more excited for this game.

this is one of the first games i've looked forward to for a long time.

Recent reviews aren't being so kind to the game. Kotaku didn't think it was worth the money, Joystiq basically thought it was average.

I tend to avoid Kotaku like the plague, they are the journalistic equivalent of gibbon apes. Just read the Joystiq review and while I can see their points, much of it is carbon copy of the old Mafia's flaws - Long driving sequences etc. but that's what made the game so great, it wasn't constant action or cheap thrills, it was a slow build-up and you truly enjoyed every action sequence and every major event because they were sparse, without being game-breaking.

I can however see that sort of gameplay not go down well in the current gaming market, it's all a bit "Modern Warfare 2" minded with cheap and fast action. So I think this game will be a case of; did you like Mafia 1 or not and do you want more.

I completed Mafia 1 over 6 times and I loved the driving every time, seems driving even got a notch up despite the hit on some realism aspects, it's still fun and I'm so looking forward to it (Y)

Kotoku seemed to dislike it because it wasn't gta. Mafia II isn't a gta style sandbox game, its a more linear story driven game. Many seem to think its gta but are disappointed when its not. I was impressed by the demo, the voice acting, gameplay and cutscenes are great and I am sure the story will be too.

Destructiod rated the PS3 version the highest because of the exclusive content with a 7.5. It gave the PC and 360 versions 6.5 even though they both are graphically superior to the PS3 version

People do like to say gameplay > graphics around here whistle.gif

On a game related note it makes me sad to see low scores, but I still really want to play this. Mafia was a classic.

I did not expect nor want this to be GTA, not by a mile.

No disrespect, but if they gave it a mediocre score without the extra content, why would the extra content amount to anything more than more mediocrity?

I did not expect nor want this to be GTA, not by a mile.

This is what I was pretty much thinking as well. Kept reading reviews and they seemed to be knocking it because they wanted it to be like GTA, when I personally didn't want to have to worry about random side missions and such. I just wanted a good story driven game to play through to keep me entertained for some time. Considering most of the negatives that reviewers are giving it are some reasons I liked the sound of this game, I haven't been paying too much attention to them. Will be picking it up tomorrow none the less so I'll see how it plays out, but I don't really expect myself to be disappointed with the full game.

    • I agree. I also think Phil stayed too long. They should definitely fire whoever thought all a console platform needed was Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout to survive. Asha and crew are still saying they need more Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. They simply don't get it.

    • Mozilla highlights Firefox Nova 2026 redesign and more upcoming features with new roadmap by Sayan Sen Last month Mozilla confirmed that Firefox was set to get a major redesign this year. Dubbed "Project Nova", it can already be tested and will roll out to all users later this year. The idea is to keep the browser competitive in a rapidly evolving internet landscape. As such the revamp focuses on improving privacy, usability, performance, accessibility, and customization. Key privacy features including the built-in VPN, private browsing mode, and Enhanced Tracking Protection, will be more visible and easier to manage, while users will have the option to disable AI features entirely through a dedicated kill switch. Additionally, the redesign promises faster page loading, the return of Compact mode, expanded personalization options, and stronger accessibility support. You can find the full details in the dedicated piece linked above. In a new blog post today the company once again reiterated on Nova and also emphasized other new and upcoming features like the settings revamp that is intended to make it easier for users to understand browser settings. In order to make it simpler for users to keep up with such features Mozilla today is launching Firefox roadmap. Hence enthusiasts and interested users will be able to check out what's cooking and also share feedback about the upcoming additions. Alongside the roadmap announcement, Mozilla also highlighted what's new in Firefox 152. One of the biggest additions is the arrival of Tab Groups on Android. The feature, which has already been helping desktop users organize large numbers of tabs, is now beginning to roll out on mobile. Users will be able to group related tabs together, assign names and colors to them, and return to them later. Mozilla says support for iOS will arrive later this year. Firefox 152 also introduces the aforementioned redesigned Settings experience. The company says the changes are meant to make controls easier to find and help users discover features they may not have previously known about. Existing preferences are not changing, though they are now better organized. Another notable addition is the new Blocked Tracker Widget, which provides a visual overview of Firefox's privacy protections by showing how many trackers have been blocked over time and the types of tracking activity the browser has stopped. Looking ahead, Mozilla revealed several upcoming roadmap features. They include customizable keyboard shortcuts, as well as enhanced PDF editing tools that will allow documents to be split, merged, and reorganized directly within Firefox. The company is also working on bringing Multi-Account Containers into the native Firefox experience thus removing the need for a separate extension. Meanwhile Firefox's built-in VPN is set to expand to mobile devices. Mozilla is also developing AI-powered features like Quick Answers, which can provide concise responses to voice queries, and Smart Window, its optional AI browsing experience that is now available without a waitlist. Finally, a new Power Saving Mode is in the works and will help reduce the impact of resource-heavy tabs on mobile devices in order to extend battery life. The video below summarizes the upcoming changes in an easy to understand format: You can find the announcement blog post here on Mozilla's official website.
    • Dead on arrival at that price. Like they missed the mark by multiple hundreds of dollars - this should actually undercut the Macbook Air at $899 if they want any sort of sales / further adoption of WoA
