havent played the game YET but... Jimmy... Conway

just watched the goodfellas 2 days ago

looked up the person jimmy conway was based on and i must say those pictures look slightly similar to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Burke_(gangster)

Oh, haha - That's neat :D

So for those that finished it, how long did it take you to beat the game? Just curious.

Took me around 8,5 hours on Medium with no 'funny business' on the side.

That seems kind of sort for a sandbox game. Well I'm glad I'm maybe getting it for free then, I'll probably find out today.

It is indeed a bit on the short side, although I did enjoy every second of it unlike GTA IV, despite being one of my favourite Free-roam games, it had a lot of crap in it I would love to have avoided.

You get 8-10 hours of pure gangster atmosphere - It's excellent.

Well then it will definitely be worth the price I'm paying for it then.*

And I suppose a shorter game length isn't so bad. I don't have the attention span to finish longer games these days. I still haven't finished ME2 or AC2.

*I'm not pirating the game if that's what people are thinking, EVGA is giving away free copies of the game.

I've finally finished it and it was a very fun game, though I must admit that the first one was better imo.

One thing that really gets on my nerves is the "dlc" though, it seems that half the sodding game was cut out of the retail release for use as pre-order bonus', console exclusives and dlc....

By the way, I may have missed something but why did the health bar only cover, like, 60% of the circle? I figured it was like GTA when you get body armour that makes up the other half but I saw nothing on my run through.

I could never do the damn flying mission on Ac2  but ME2 has been completed two or three times so far.

I just got the game this morning (obviously everyone's seen the free Mafia 2 topic ) and I am really enjoying it. I love the graphics it really feels like being in the 1940's the music and I actually like the car controls it feels authentic.

I don't think I'll buy the DLC as I don't like to support companies that do these DLC packs right out of the gate. But I also don't feel that I need the pack as the game itself offers a large amount of content from what my friends have told me.

And you know it's ?8 now but it'll be ?2.99 in a few months just like the Borderland expansions.

They will be charging for it.

Those 30 Missions better be worth it.

By the way, anyone with the PS3 version that could give us a low-down of what happens in the exclusive DLC? Just to get an idea what's leading up to the 'sequel' of it.

From what I've read, 25 missions, and is more the fast-paced arcade-style kill-streak game that you were glad Mafia was not. Leaderboards, points, etc. Yes there is story to it.

SPOILERS below, havent completed all of it but am close.

I disagree - 70% of the missions are training missions where you learn to fight and go there, do this. Low level stuff.

The only real level was the one where we raided the chinese restaurant and ****ed up everything.

All the fun missions were in the cutscenes, where they jump months.

Not to mention my game is probably borked now, I am looking for Joe @ Mona Lisas but the door wont open no matter how I approach it. Tried restarting from last checkpoint but that didnt work either..

Also, the police are retardedly easy to escape and you can rob a car right infront of them lol.

I miss Mafia 1 :(

But neither of them have anything to do outside missions lol, hence why they have no freeroam mode :p

Great atmosphere, graphics and feel - but I am disappointed.

    • That's not clickbait. Clickbait is headlines like, "You'll never guess what this person looks like now" for example. For goodness sake, take a look around the internet if you think this is clickbait. How do sites survive if people don't click through to articles? How many people in all honesty would have clicked this if it had your suggested headline? You and those upvoting your post won't be happy until the web is a couple of hundred websites all behind a paywall.

    • Or use Epic games and get full games for free. lol Steam and their demos. Thankfully there’s competition
    • Maybe I missed it, but does this say anywhere that the game save bug has been squashed? I haven't encountered it myself, but it would be nice to know I'm good to go. Anyway, amazingly well done game. Mostly more of the same. ...but when the same is best in class with improved graphics and features, then a win.
    • Well when your game flops, you should expect this. If I do bad at work, I would expect a layoff. Less than 1600 people played it on steam. https://steamdb.info/app/1934570/charts/
