PS3 finally hacked?

Recommended Posts

Good thing I took the time to update to 3.41 last night (which as always takes a terribly long time to do). I have it setup on my Palm Pre, but don't really have the time or care to want to try it.

At the end of the day the PS3 is still not my preferred console, even if the games could technically be free if I so desired.

I think you find that they can do such things, anyone buying it would have known the risks and that Sony would aim to prevent such things. People probably would have realised that they couldn't update their firmware anymore until that gets circumvented as well. I did it, nope i've not downloaded any games, I did it out of interest. How much did it cost me? Absolutely nothing.... I guess i'm an idiot....

The idiot parts is for those that aid for such hacks, you didn't there for you are not an idiot pretty simple really :p

and future games unless they find a way to circumvent that.

Exactly, if Sony make it that games will only run on a certain firmware then they also need to start putting that FW on the disc too (like PSP) for those that are not online.

What happens to the people without internet connections? does Sony lock them out of any future games by requiring an online firmware update?

Yes but in that case if you decide to upgrade your firmware to be able to play a new game, it will be your own decision. My point was, there is no technical method for sony to force update your ps3, you might decide to stay on the current firmware forever if you wish so, and just use the backup manager for the games released till the current date.

If a game requires a specific firmware version, they always include the firmware file in the disc so you can upgrade even if you don't have any internet connection. You may of course decline to upgrade your firmware, but the game simply will not start.

Did you not read what you quoted?

Already bypassed tongue.gif

This is it now I feel that Sony will never be able to fully stop the uses that this hack has. They can keep making it harder, but now the hackers have a lot more info to work with I think Sony is fighting a losing battle.

Yep we have deffinatley entered PSP territory now that the hackers have the keys to the gate.. This may just be a stop gap but while Sony try and get it together next few months will tell. Not that updates bother me I could still install Linux on my PS if I wanted to

Yup. No question. Not to mention, the current work around was implemented fast, and will be addressed in a future update to the newly implemented hacks. Fun stuff. Sucks to be Sony :p

From Digital Foundry:

"3.42 is the only way to access PSN, so in Sony's world you have to upgrade. However, for now it looks like people who have the Jailbreak are sticking to 3.41 and using a proxy server bypass to remain online.

Hello :)

Firmware 3.42 blocks the exploit, yes finally hehe :p

My link

This will at some point be also hacked now that developers know the innerworkings of the console's firmware.

BWAHAHAHAHAH at the idiots that bought stuff to hack it, IDIOTS.

Face it you schmucks (who ever wants to play downloaded games) sony will not allow you to do such things :p

This I imagine at some point will also be hacked.

Hackers FTW! I hope Sony loses this battle hard. I still have forgiven them for the rootkit problems they caused.

Wow!

Why would you want Sony to lose the battle against piracy? You realise that it's not just Sony that will get hit hard by this? There are lots of smaller developers that don't have massive budgets and possibly saw the PS3 as the better option to release stuff on due to the unlikelyhood of piracy denting sales.

Some peoples hatred towards the bigger corporations is so blinkered at times :(

    • Good. I hope more people sue them for focusing on this worthless junk.
    • How about fire the guy who approved all the bad decisions? The guy who bought these studios in the first place? Oh wait, Satya is safe with his billions while the workers pay the price.
    • This had nothing to do with games. This is all about management wanting to squeeze as much money from Xbox to keep Microsoft's AI ambitions afloat. Someone has to make money to burn on AI.

The Ultra 9 185H features 16 cores and 22 threads running at up to 5.1 GHz. It also includes a dedicated NPU utilizing Intel AI Boost at 11 TOPS. On the graphics front, the 185H includes the still fairly capable ARC Graphics (not to be confused with the newer ARC 140T) integrated GPU with a max GPU frequency of 2350 MHz across 8 Xe-cores. It has been said that the iGPU is equivalent to the NVIDIA GeForce 3050 and GTX 1650 in gaming and synthetic benchmarks. Other highlights include an AMOLED display, LPDDR5x memory at 7467 MT/s, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and a fingerprint sensor built into the power button. AI PC? Although the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H includes a dedicated NPU, it's only 11 TOPS; therefore, it does not qualify as a Copilot+ PC. However, it can reach up to 33 TOPS with a combination of NPU, CPU, and GPU. As I said, although we only reviewed the X14 Pro, the unboxing is the same for the X16 Pro, which I noted in my review. The packaging is quite a nice experience. The outer box houses the X16 Pro box with a small compartment that contains the 5-in-1 Dock ($40 value), which appears to be an "Early Bird" inclusion. Upon removing the box cover, the X16 Pro is revealed sitting in a cardboard compartment with two small booklets of documentation. To the left of the X16 Pro are two cardboard compartments containing the 65W charger and Type-C USB cable. What’s In The Box 1 x GEEKOM X16 Pro Ultra-thin Laptop 1 x Type-C to Type-C cable 1.8M 1 x 65W GaN PD Fast Charger 1 x Warranty Card 1 x Thank You Card 1 x User Guide All products sold by GEEKOM receive a 3-year free Warranty from the date you receive the product.
