[Official] Bulletstorm

I wasn't too impressed with the demo -- it was somewhat fun, but it let me down. Is the full game better? I mean, I get the appeal of the whole skillshot stuff in Echoes, but I'd rather just have a fun singleplayer experience that actually has a good campaign. Or is it just running around shooting people for skillshots in the campaign too, essentially?

You do that in campaign mode too, but the campaign mode is AWESOME. Full on adrenaline, amusing as hell dialogue (yeah it's stupid but it's hilarious,) and more awesome **** than you can throw a leash at.

It's my new favorite game :)

I wasn't too impressed with the demo either.

Played the game for the first time tonight. Played for 3 hours with 3 other friends. Bulletstorm is honestly the most fun I had playing a multiplayer game since bad company 2.

At first it felt like a casual party game that's a fps, but the higher levels were so tough to beat.

I really can't see how this game is playable playing with strangers because teamwork is a must. I'm still trying to get the hang of memorizing the names if the moves, but I guess that's half the fun.

get me in there man! Let me know the next time you play!

So I just experienced a game stopping bug. Literally I could not progress because of this bug. I had to start from the beginning of the Chapter, really sucked. Not just me either, I found an entire thread on Giant Bomb about it...

All I will say is if you are having issues with a dropping platform and not being able to proceed, it is the same bug.

Information about the bug can be found here...

only fix is to restart, someone earlier in that thread mentions an action prompt, they were wrong. I tried that about 15 times to no avail. Sucks, as I basically wasted over an hour from getting to that part, then trying a good 15 minutes to see if there was something I was missing, to having to restart the chapter over. Apparently it is not just a PC bug either, it affects all versions.

Is that the part where you have to leash the ball to get across?

I got through this part no problem on the 360, must be completely random...

Will you guys be playing this weekend or maybe tonight/tomorrow/night

GT: Savvy Bunny

:D

thanks for the information everyone, getting it tomorrow. hope there are no game-stoppers on the 360 version. why am i still buying games for the 360 after all they've done is another question.

Stop... just stop. You are such a ****ing baby. Seriously, the world didn't end, everyone's okay. You'll survive. Just buy the game, and play it because it's fun. Stop whining about a GT Sig site that shut down.

Is that the part where you have to leash the ball to get across?

Not sure, as I only got right back to before I had the issue as I literally wasted over an hour. I know what caused the issue so this time I should not experience it.

It is not random whatsoever. There is a very definite reason, a chain of events so to speak, of why I and why everyone else who experienced the bug are experiencing it.

What happens is apparently I

went to fast for the game's liking, and I wound up leaving the girl behind. There is a part you get on an Elevator before you get to the exploding dam, and the first time I did it no one was on the elevator with me. I did not really think anything of it as if it let me go up, I figured they did not need to be on it with me. However that messed up about 10 minutes later, as the girls presence is needed to kick in the proper cut scenes and prompts.

nice game, ****ty engine (outdated and slow, need a lot of hardware), crappy graphics, but playeable. Its like what duke nukem forever should be.

You're kidding right? Bulletstorm uses an updated version of Unreal Engine 3 with some impressive features like global illumination and light shafts.

Erm, I think you don't know what you're talking about...

Just finished the game on Normal, easily the most fun I have had playing a game in a long time. The lighting is amazing in this game as well as the sound design. I really hope they add more maps for the Anarchy mode down the road and I don't think a TDM would be a bad this either if it's done right. The campaign I thought was a little short compared to other games and I really don't understand why games are so short now days. It's definatly re playable IMO with all the different skill shots and achievements that are pretty hard to get the first time through. I hope GoW 3 will be a little longer and has more polish as this game did have some weird graphic glitches with textures not loading all the way and some really low-res ones as well. Oh and make sure you watch all of the credits ;)

There is a video on the dashboard about the Gears beta just posted.

Had a quick run through - I followed the Ars Technica guide for tweaking the mouse smoothing and max fps settings.

I was expecting the worst after reading the Steam forums and how "consoley" it was but the game actually plays very nicely on kb + mouse - the button layout certainly feels comfortable.

I'm very much enjoying the graphics and audio on show too.

One thing that bugs me a little is just how much ammo is takes to kill :x Clearly it's designed to force you into using skillshots to save ammo but I can see the game gettign frustrating if you're sloppy with your supplies!

Well, in multiplayer, you're going to wish it took even more ammo to kill enemies. Some of the skillshots and team challenges are so tough that it takes a few tries before actually achieving them.

    • I've owned nothing but ATi/AMD GPUs since 2002, after my last nVidia GPU in 2001 (3dfx before that), IIRC, and in all of that time I recall getting this error maybe once, certainly no more than twice. Despite all the scuttlebutt as to how poor AMD drivers are supposed to be that has certainly not been my experience at all... Usually it has been a configuration problem of some kind. Then again, since we're dealing with OS versions that are EOL, it could easily be an OS version discrepancy. It's still weird to think that Win11 has been officially out for more than five years!
    • AI will never be the jobs panacea some companies fantasize about today. Oracle is likely using it as an excuse, which we will see a lot of companies doing, I'm certain. They love their "plausible" excuses for their downturns. A couple of weeks ago my wife asked me to call Krogers about some discrepancy in a online grocery order, and it will be the last time either of us does that. I'll just do emails with humans from now on... The AI experience was horrible--the obviously recorded voice started asking a bunch of questions about our orders six months prior(!) and saying, "Is this in reference to your order on January 6, for $****?" You say "No!" and immediately the next question is "Is this in reference to your order on January 29th, for $****?" again, I answered "No!"--and it was incredible--on and on it went like that for fully 20 minutes until we finally got to the present, and only then was I put through to a human with authentic intelligence... I wondered why on Earth the idiot AI didn't start with the most recent orders and work back from there, as it was something anyone with a functioning brain would have done. And why didn't the AI have enough sense to ask me what the problem was in the first place? It didn't take too much deduction to understand that the goal of this "AI" was to cause the person on the phone to hang up in disgust, with no resolution of the problem. That begs another question: why pay for a tool-free problem line if the goal is to avoid solving your customer's problems?... Fortunately, Krogers does have real humans capable of reading an email and understanding it, and if she sees another situation in the future that's route she or I will take. The online grocery delivery service from Krogers has been great, over all, but their AI truly sucks.
    • AI is the justification that company administrators use to lay people off; it is not the end all, be all touted in the media (many of whom can't tell a microchip from a potato chip). Greed is main driving factor behind its adoption; the other is remaining relevant in the face of competition from other entities.
    • Firefox 152.0.2 is out with fixes for performance, translation, and cloud storage services by Taras Buria A new bug-fixing update is now rolling out to Firefox users in the Release Channel. Less than a week ago, Mozilla fixed crashes on Intel Raptor Lake processors with version 152.0.1. Now, Mozilla has prepared yet another set of fixes that address problems with localization, playback issues of certain MP4 files, and performance issues on website that perform various encryption operations at once. Here is the full changelog: Firefox 152.0.2 is now available for download from Mozilla's FTP. Existing installations will get the update over the next several hours. The latest version will also be available soon on the official website, the Microsoft Store, and Neowin's Software page. You can find Firefox 152.0.2 release notes in the official documentation. In case you missed it, Mozilla released Firefox 152 earlier this month. The latest feature update brought reworked settings with a more streamlined user interface, JPEG XL support, new features for Private mode, a new way to mute a tab (just type "mute" in the address bar), and many more. You can find the complete changelog here. In other Firefox news, Mozilla recently published its roadmap, where the company detailed the upcoming Nova redesign and other features it plans to implement. Mozilla wants to make the new user interface easier to navigate and more modern, with a heavy focus on its privacy tools, such as its built-in VPN. If you are curious, you can already enable the new UI as described here.
