[Official] Bulletstorm

The game is fun but runs like crap.... AMD Phenom II x4 8GB DDR2 HD5850.... It should run smooth as silk but does not... Hell the beta leak of Crysis ran better than this.

Crysis still runs like crap on my Core i7 w/ 6870. (Mind you only the ending really.) (With MLAA on of course.) Bulletstorm was smooth throughout.

I imagine PhysX is part of it, remember this crap...I don't think NV has updated its PhysX libraries yet to fix this http://www.realworldtech.com/page.cfm?ArticleID=RWT070510142143

I tried the demo on 360 and didn't really like how it played. Then I got the PC version and I'm loving it! I had some really wonky looking graphics on my PC (textures weren't loading properly; apparently it's a recurring issue on a number of UE3 games), but that was an easy .ini fix when I Googled the problem. It's running wonderfully at 1080p on my i5-650 & GTX 460.

That plant boss was fun, I didn't expect it to last so long. Need more epic boss fights in games.

Did you know that when you're fighting mini-bosses and the plant boss, that you have infinite PMC ammo? When you have a full clip, if you keep pressing reload button, you get restocked a little more each time.

Also, that fight was long the first time for me too , but after I died and came back.. I just used the screamer charge a couple of times directly into his mouth and that too a good chunk of health from him.

Also... when you get him to reveal the red sores or whatever .. just use the leash and run around him as fast as possible.. the fight lasted under 5 minutes for me that way.

Finished it tonight. ****ing epic! One of the coolest games I've ever played. Beautiful graphics, brilliant gameplay, and not a dull moment. Okay the story wasn't a tearjerker or anything, but I didn't even care. I'm a sucker for stories normally, but I enjoyed this game so much that there was little holding me back from having a great time.

Can't wait for more!

yes, you're right, it is good. highly playable, looks great for a 360/PS3 game, some of the vistas are really pretty. and the writing is good, too, except i'm not a fan of the lady from AC Brotherhood, no offense to her, but i just don't buy her as a tough military type, as a rogue coder she was good, in this one...not so much. my only gripe sort of would be that it's so much like Gears, from the level design to the characters, weapons, banter etc...of course that's not much of a complaint because i assume that was the whole point.

Yeah, but I thought this was MS specific.

It's not it's on ps3 & pc edition too. If people started posting thing just because the subject is connected any particular console or pc, there would be hundreds of thread. Sorry but don't mind me I'm just venting it out, no disrespect.

The PS3 version should've had a yellow flashing light imo.

Finished the game a couple days ago. Its so much fun and SP was longer than I was expecting (honestly I wasn't expecting much out of this game...just kind of filler until GOW3). Just good solid fun all around.

Yeah, same, finished a few days ago and enjoyed it. The story was absolutely horrible, but the gameplay more than made up for it. I plan on going through and beating it on the hardest mode as well as trying out the other modes.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
