Simple - only the host is allowed VATS but the co-op player still gets the slowdown effect.

Imagine it though - a melee character and a sniper :D Sniper sitting on a distant hilltop while instructing the melee character of where to move/sneak before setting up a can of whoop-ass :D Melee character working in close - sniper activates VATS to take out an onrushing Legion Veteran before his can land a vicious blow.

It would be hot.

Thinking it would be a great DLC, or at least some food for thought for FO4.

Oh I also suggest (saying this for PC, might be for others) saving every time! I already had the game freeze on me three times after I just did a lot and I forgot that if you wear a gangs uniform you will be seen as them; I ended up having to kill everyone at the NCR prison place and was wondering why they attacked me for no reason lol.

I would rather they just get rid of VATS all together in co-op. Just disable it for co-op play. My biggest complaint with FO3 was that to have any sort of real accuracy, using VATS was the only true way to do it. You could have a guy right in your face and still have a good chance of missing him if you did not use VATS, even though your reticule is right on center mass. I like VATS to toy around with people and do limb targeting and everything like that. I just think the FO3 relied too much on it and unfortunately New Vegas has done the same. I still enjoy the game anyways with or without VATS. Im sitting at over 50 hours played now and have no clue how close I am to the end of the main story because I have done nothing but explore, loot, and do the occaisional side quest.

I do agree though that co-op would be a blast and coordinating attacks on targets would be truely epic in this game.

I think I might have found a potential area for an add-on or DLC on the way to Novac. I came across this area where there is a railway entrance on the side of a mountain... I shall rephrase that, it's more of a hill than a mountain really. Well I was thinking either this was just put there as a one off and just as a spur of the moment, or maybe they might be doing something with this later on...? When you are taking a snapshot of Fallout 3 or Fallout Vegas, [Press] ` then type in the following command, tm then press enter, this will turn off the HUD display. please remember to turn back on because if you use your PIPBOY 3000 you will have no display, just [Press] ` again and then retype tm again to turn this back on again. It takes the ugly screenshot from the top left hand corner and removes the HUD from the picture.

Odd being stuck on the side of a hill...? with my helper, he's very handy helps you when fighting as well.

I'm definitely not enjoying New Vegas as much as Fallout 3, I feel rather limited in what I can do compared to my level.

In FO3, when I got out I could generally go in whatever direction and randomly come across things, but I've been butchered, eaten and pulverised a good number of times now in the name of exploration, and this is on Very Easy, so I feel stuck in doing the same thing all the time till I am higher, it just doesn't seem as fun.

I'm definitely not enjoying New Vegas as much as Fallout 3, I feel rather limited in what I can do compared to my level.

I do welcome the increase in difficulty though. I always enjoy a challenge and to see how many different ways I can accomplish a certain task.

I found this kind of annoying too, not really the increased difficulty itself, but the linear way in which they walk you through the main story line and side quests. In Fallout 3 I spent much more time exploring and finding the side quests on my own, in New Vegas I haven't really spent anytime exploring, it seems like I'm always on a one way street moving forward.

I don't have a problem so much with making things more difficult or creating a greater challenge, but more to do with that of the difficulty of everything even on Very Easy being stupidly hard, which to me stifles part of the charm and draw that FO3 had.

I absolutely think the challenge should be there for those that want to face it, and things like Hardcore mode help bring the game to life a bit more, but most of the time I will play a game through the first time for the story and have no urge to get stuck at certain points for hours because of some stupid enemy that is incredibly overpowered for the difficulty I am on, after which I will come back and at more of a challenging skill level, and for games like Fallout, I think you always need that first easier run through to understand certain mechanics of the stat and levelling system which can easily be ruined if you have no idea what your doing at the begining of the game.

I'm not entirely sure how close to the end I am now, but I've spent the time doing the main quest (hunting down the guy that took your package and shot you). This has caused me the same issues as many above me, in that it's now getting to the point where I can't take these later guys down on my own. However, just as with FO3, life gets much simpler if you get a companion to join you. Me, I've gone for Boone and I've already seen a difference. Also, unless I'm mistaken, anything that your companion kills seems to give XP to you? This didn't seem to be the case in FO3 (you had to deal the most damage to the enemy to get XP), but at least it means that Boone can at least reduce a target from afar before I need to start using my precious ammo reserves. :laugh:

Overall I'm having a blast. I agree that the feeling isn't quite the same as with FO3, but I'm still being entertained and lo and behold I turned on the PS3 about 10 hours ago and have only just turned it off (I've been ill today so I've had the time to hand while I recover :p).

My plan for this weekend - since that is more than likely the next chance I'll get to play - is to go off and do some more exploring. Having browsed through this thread there have been some interesting things that I would like to go and check out.

One question I have though: Does NV play out the same as FO3 in that, even if you haven't done everything (side quests, exploration etc.), by getting to the end of the main quest the game finishes and you need to restart? That was the one thing that really bugged me about FO3, and the only reason that I bought Broken Steel, so that I could then go and explore and do side quests.

Maybe I just need to rethink my strategy when playing the Fallout games, and I should allow myself to get sidetracked...

Ugh. That's the ONE thing I didn't like in FO3. I figured since they "fixed it" with Broken Steel they wouldn't do the same thing in FONV. I decided to get the Explorer perk so I could go exploring before I go into the Strip.

Annoying isn't it, Bethesda even said after FO3 came out that the biggest complaint was putting a full stop ending and that in future they wouldn't, then Obsidian do it anyway.

I wont be happy if some DLC arrives later that lets us play afterwards after all the fuss Obsidian went on about not being able to continue after the endings, they should have just plopped us outside of New Vegas as if the last mission regardless of faction hadn't happened and just taken away those quest elements.

Well I considered it a major drawback with FO3, and when I realised that if I wanted to continue with my character I had to buy Broken Steel, I thought, "I wonder if someone planned this?"

Go figure, if the flaw (and I do regard this as a flaw) still exists, I bet Obsidian thought, "If we don't do this then there won't be as many sales on the DLC, so it will look like what we did wasn't as good as what Bethesda did."

Ha, I was wondering around today and saw that I was in [Danger]. I turn around and see this thing set down in front of me. "It's just a bug, I can take him." Boy, was I wrong! Two stabs from that thing and I was out.

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
