Guessed wrong. Tried most weapons against them and they dont go down.

They die in a few shots when I shoot them......I actually rarely use my Gauss rifle because 1-2 hit kills get sort of annoying when your trying to have fun.
Why should I have to use codes to get the AI back? I didnt have to in FO3.
You might not have had to, but other people did. FO3 is infamous for disappearing NPCs, both essential and non essential. Sometimes they simply fall through the map never to return unless the user uses console commands to bring them back.
Hating a game because of bugs, regardless if repairable by the user, is fine with me. Users shouldnt have to do work arounds, hacks, tweaks...whatever..to get a game working correctly and that should of been working properly to begin with. I dont know how this game got beyond testing, but they half assed it. AND I still CANNOT completed the "Fly away with me" quest without every saved game after being corrupted.

And speaking of corrupted game saves....I have been manually saving my game OFTEN since other people reported the game save issue in other quests. Sucks, FOV sucks, and I cannot wait for ME3 or AC3.

Fallout 3 had the same bugs (technically more), so I don't see how someone could praise one game while hating another (or at the very least call the follow-up worse) due to bugs, when the game they are comparing it to has JUST as many bugs. I have only completed the "Come Fly with me" quest once as I only have one playthrough, but it didn't corrupt my saves, and FO3 had similar bugs with corrupted saves.....

I will admit FO3 and FO:NV are not on the level of Mass Effect or Assassins Creed, but they, to me at least, are still fun games. As mentioned I personally have not hit any showstopper bugs with the recent FO games, therefore I may be a bit lucky on that aspect, but to say FO:NV sucks compared to FO3 is just idiotic when FO3 had even more bugs. Oddly enough, I did hit a showstopper bug in ME2, or at least a small one. During the final mission, I got stuck on a guard rail. I tried to get my character off of it but I couldn't and as such eventually died because I couldn't get behind cover or anything. All it took was a reload, but I still had to go back and play through parts of that mission that I had already gotten past because of a bug......didn't stop me from continuing but I suppose if it kept happening to someone then it would be a major showstopper bug.

I have the gauss rifle and my energy skills are in the 90s...still takes 3-4 shots to kill them. Then my weapon gets damaged and it costs a lot to repair.

Maybe so, but I never had any issues in FO3

Again, FO3 may of had more bugs...I dont know since I had little to no issues with FO3. And the bugs in FO3 were not show stoppers like the corrupt saved game issues in FOV.

Dont call what I am saying idiotic just because you experience things differently. I am not the only one not happy with FOV.

The good news is that there is a patch coming either tuesday or wednesday that will fix a ton of bugs including all the corrupted quests. Also I believe that the saves don't get corrupted but rather the games can't load them correctly so after this patch you should be able to load up those saves.

FO3 had even more bugs.

You mean you experience more bugs Fallout 3. Because I've experience more bugs in New Vegas. When my saves failed to load I stopped playing and awaited a patch; which has taken nearly two months. I don't know how this game got passed testing.

Been hearing about a patch soon for weeks now...hope this one is real and works as it should.

Still, FOV offers really nothing new that FO3. Just a different map.

What difficulty are you playing? On the easiest they only take a couple shots at most to die. I honestly haven't repaired my Gauss rifle since I got it and it is still in pretty good condition, but I also only use it for encounters where I think I need to (such as killing everything in the Caesar camp). I mostly use the standard sniper rifle to deal with threats, it takes maybe 3-4 shots with that excluding any damage Boone or the dog do......it certainly shouldn't take 3-4 Gauss Rifle shots to kill a single thing unless you have it on a higher difficulty.

Neither did I, but I still was aware of the major bugs it had.

There actually were a few show stoppers, such as the one I mentioned, NPCs falling through the wasteland. It could happen to mainquest essential NPCs and unless you used console commands you couldn't continue with the storyline.

I'm just saying it's idiotic to compare two games with similar bugs and call one worse than the other, if they have similar bugs they should be nearly the same in terms of game quality, right?

True, it only offers a new "map" and storyline, but the same could said for many game sequels (yes I know, FO:NV wasn't a sequel, but you get the point). The only shortcoming of FO:NV is it didn't fix a majority of bugs that FO3 had.

I think I am at the default level of difficulty. But thats how I palyed with FO3...its a fact that things are harder to kill in Vegas.

And no its not idiotic to compare to games like that. I never heard this big of backlash from players on much of anything FO3 related as I do with Vegas. And its been months and nothing has been done about the issues except for the PC version. Vegas affects almost everyone and the same issues happen on the PC version.

i second everything techbeck is saying. nagisan, you love the game and have been lucky with it...that's great. don't discount other people as dumb or anything, the body of evidence against FONV is massive. i've talked to a bunch of people about it and 70% have reported problems with it - mostly the uneven difficulty and corrupted saves. i haven't had a corrupted save with it yet, but i believe everything they say. i also have the Strip lock-out glitch, which is effectively a game stopper. so unless Obsidian are about to give me back my $60 plus tax, they can go **** themselves with their incompetence.

I must admit I havent touched my copy for a while, got rather annoyed with the game, but doesnt mean I dont like it! I will be playing it again soon when I have the chance :p.

Same lol. About 2 weeks ago, I bought both FO3 and FOV, and played FOV for about 2 days. The 3rd day, I bought Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, MGS4, GTA4, Demons Souls, and ModNation Racers. I have been going between so many games lately, but none of them fallout lol.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yeah, it's buggy as hell, but I still can't stop playing the damn game :p I had clocked 120+ hours and reached lvl30 ages ago before I even bothered to enter the strip... Can't wait for some dlc :)

That being said, I hope the Elder Scrolls V engine will be much better than this pos, then we can hope for a polished Fallout 4...

You should prepare to be disappointed, especially if you are a Fallout fan which mostly anyone will buy regardless of what they hear.

My brother purchased it as soon as it was available and said the storyline ended up being terrible and complete with dark scenery (which is not always a problem, I know). Also just like every other Fallout DLC, they strip you of your items so you need to start of fresh, kind of gets annoying after awhile since it's always the same like this and the lack of new weapons/items even though there still were some in this one.

I still plan on playing it, I just haven't had the time yet, but I know at least it is nothing spectacular.

okay. well i know one think we should all be excited about....level cap has been increased by 5....does that give the player the ability to chose more perks?

Yes, a level cap increase is always great, even if it's only 5. :)

You get to choose 2 more perks, one at level 32 and the other one at level 34.

It also looks like there are possibly 14 new perks added to the list, do not take my word on this but just a quick search around the net there looks to be about this many, not sure if more or less though. These will also have requirements as the other perks have which Fallout players should be more than familiar with.

well that's good news =)

I have another question for you since your brother beat dead money...

Let's say you finish your main quest first...does the game give you the ability to continue or do you have to load a previous save to play dead money?

Once you start the DLC, you have to finish it, you can't go back until you finish it since there is no return.

The only way you continue your game is not to read the letter at the end of the DLC. When you get to this point, without spoiling it, you should know what I mean. Like I already said, do NOT even read the letter as if you do, you will not be able to continue your game/character after doing so.

You could always create 2 or more saves as you progress through the DLC in case you think by accident you will read the letter.

does the DLC have the same broken sign posting and navigation as the main game? seriously, finding your way around the wasteland has never been so hard...

not that i'm aware of...

edit...i'm not stuck anymore. haha

oh man. it seems like i'm flooding this thread.

mistical...do you know if your bro got away with all 37 gold bars? took me like 1 million + tries to do so. :shiftyninja:

I would not even consider it anywhere near flooding. These posts will eventually help someone else in one way or another, and already yourself in one way or another.

His first few playthroughs in the DLC he didn't bother to try to get away with them. I know he eventually tried to do so by dropping them through the force field but wasn't able to on the Xbox 360 but he only tried twice, it really wasn't a concern to him. He read about this elsewhere, but those that did this were likely playing the PC version and easily did it that way, most likely. I haven't bothered reading online about this so don't really take mine or his word on how to possibly attempt to do this. He didn't only tried real quick like I said.

But since you were able to finally get away with it after many tries, is this what you did?

Yup. Well to make things easier, I destroyed all the turrets after opening the vault door before enterin the vault. Before killing the old guy, I dropped the gold by the blue shield. Now, I had trouble picking the gold up so I had to face the gold sideways and pick it up that way. I did it on the 360 by the way.

    • Windows 11 is a big thumbs down from me. I used for a period of a few days while it was in insider and windows 10 was the main OS, and realised it wasn't for me. I am still waiting for Windows to be tolerable again, a shame as at one point I was very pro Microsoft.
    • Classic outlook, not only does it have a much fuller feature set, it doesn't include Microsoft attempting to sync my emails from my servers to theirs. If classic outlook is ever removed from office, and the version I paid for in 2021 stops working for some reason, I'll use Thunderbird.
    • Kdenlive 26.04.2 by Razvan Serea Kdenlive is an acronym for KDE Non-Linear Video Editor. It works on GNU/Linux, Windows and BSD. Through the MLT framework, Kdenlive integrates many plugin effects for video and sound processing or creation. Furthermore Kdenlive brings a powerful titling tool, a DVD authoring (menus) solution, and can then be used as a complete studio for video creation. Kdenlive supports all of the formats supported by FFmpeg or libav (such as QuickTime, AVI, WMV, MPEG, and Flash Video, among others), and also supports 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios for both PAL, NTSC and various HD standards, including HDV and AVCHD. Video can also be exported to DV devices, or written to a DVD with chapters and a simple menu. Video editing features: Multi-track editing with a timeline and supports an unlimited number of video and audio tracks. A built-in title editor and tools to create, move, crop and delete video clips, audio clips, text clips and image clips. Ability to add custom effects and transitions. Visual effects include options for masking, blue-screen, distortions, rotations, colour tools, blurring, obscuring and others. Configurable keyboard shortcuts and interface layouts. Rendering is done using a separate non-blocking process so it can be stopped, paused and restarted. Kdenlive also provides a script called the Kdenlive Builder Wizard (KBW) that compiles the latest developer version of the software and its main dependencies from source, to allow users to try to test new features and report problems on the bug tracker. Project files are stored in XML format. An archiving feature allows exporting a project among all assets into a single folder or compressed archive. • Here's how to watch the Xbox Games Showcase today and what to expect by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The June games showcase week has been a packed one, with everything from major presentations like Sony and Summer Game Fest to indie-focused reveals coming in almost every day. Now, it's almost time for another big one, with Microsoft bringing its Xbox Games Showcase back later today. This is a double feature too, with a Gears of War E-Day deep dive also being attached to it. For anyone wanting to tune in online, the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase is kicking off at 10 AM PT | 1 PM ET | 6 PM BST | 7 PM CEST later today, June 7. The event will be available to watch on the official Xbox YouTube (4K 60FPS), Twitch, Facebook, Steam, Amazon Live, and other portals. Separate livestreams for American Sign Language and Audio Description will also be available. "This year marks 25 years of XBOX, and this Showcase is poised to be a true celebration, offering world premieres, new gameplay, fresh updates, and more for a swathe of projects we cannot wait to share," said Microsoft about this presentation. With a new CEO behind it that is pulling off some interesting moves, Xbox may have some surprises to reveal today. New looks at first-party games like Halo Campaign Evolved from Halo studios, Fable from Playground Games, InXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution, Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward are to be expected here. We may finally get to see the new Blade from Arcane Studios in action and a new Persona game from Atlus at the showcase too. Surprise announcements may also arrive from other Microsoft-owned studios like Bethesda, MachineGames, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Rare, World's Edge, or Blizzard. Considering how every new release nowadays is staying away from November and December to avoid Grand Theft Auto VI's release, any launch dates Microsoft announces will probably skip those months as well. Once the Xbox Games Showcase ends, Microsoft will immediately kick off the Gears of War: E-Day Direct. This deep dive into the upcoming prequel from The Coalition should attach gameplay footage and perhaps a release window to the highly anticipated project.
