Either something is wrong or it's your CPU. It seems the game is mostly CPU depended - not suprising seeing the engines a few years old now.

I'm running on a measly 512mb 4850 and I am always above 30fps with everything on high with 8x AA and 16x AF.

What in the world? I've gotta see what the problem is, then. I figured an i7 920 could handle it...

Just tried setting everything to high. Getting like 5fps. Lol.

edit: Maybe you're playing on a lower resolution than I am.

Anyone have troubles getting the Conjure Flame Atronach to cast properly sometimes? It seems the game is really picky about where you are casting it, if it is too close to an object or something, it refuses to spawn and instead refunds the magicka cost. I tried summoning one about 5 times during a dragon fight in various places (mostly to level up conjuring), and it failed to cast it every time. Other times, I can move the cursor over to a wall next to or object up on a bridge, and summon the flame atronach without a problem. Gets really frustrating when you try to cast the same thing 4 times in a row while mobs are closing in on you as a caster, and your main source of killing refuses to appear.

Another bug I found on my thief (dunno if I mentioned this earlier or not) is I can sometimes stealth directly in front of an enemy that (visually) is looking straight at me, and they will not detect me. This tends to happen most often when enemies are actually searching for me, and it happens no matter how light or dark the area around my character is. I have done it right next to a torch where an enemy was looking for me, walked up and bumped into me, then a few seconds later turned around and walked away. I have also had the reverse, where a guard who was leaning and looking out over a castle wall, would see me every time I got to a point where I could see him, even though, visually speaking, I was standing 90 degrees or more compared to the line he was looking down (I was essentially a decent distance away, completely perpendicular to the direction he was facing, and he saw me about 10 times before I finally got a proper sneak attack, even at 20 meters or so).

Hmm well I am playing at 1440x900 but even still if your playing at 1920x1080 you shouldn't be getting fps THAT low. Your GPU and CPU are faster than mine....

Drop you rez down to 1280x720 and if your not getting at LEAST 30fps than something is wrong and you'll be better off looking over at the official forums...

Just finished making full Dragon Scale armor (legendary quality) Now i just need to find/make replacements for my Glass sword and Bow :(, Not sure what is better yet though, need to level up a few more times so that i can do dwarven and ebony stuff.

How in the name of **** did you get a Smithing level of 100 already?

player.setav smithing 100

Having a heck of a time getting Feralda to let me in to the Mages College in Winterhold.

I see where alot of people get asked to cast something easy like flame atronach. She asked me to cast Fear..so I bought it off her..and cast it, and the game tells me she is too powerful to be feared. Wow. Really? Lol, this after I just spent 10 minutes in front of her killing a freaking Dragon. Think maybe that would give her the idea I was a badass...but nooooo lmao. Anyone know a way I can get accepted?

I just told her I was dragonborn and used a shout...

Craft Iron Daggers and/or Leather Bracers. Cheapest to make. Warmaiden's good spot as the guy and girl both sell 'em. I just crafted mine, now to get some better soul gems so I can throw some worthwhile enchants on 'em.

I've been loving it so far on Xbox 360. Graphics are amazing for the platform, but I can tell by watching some YouTube videos that the PC version has a lot more potential visually.

Really loving how the world opens up more and more as you progress.

The load times suck (even after doing a game install). The shadows are also low quality on the 360. I'm not as critical on the games textures, but I'm also playing @ 720p.

Installing on 360 results in a texture bug for 360. Works fine if you don't install.

I can run it on high / ultra at 1280x720 and 1440x900, but I guess 1920x1080 is too much for it to handle. But it's ok... can hardly tell the difference anyway.

Its easy it only took me a day. I went hunting elk and deer, hunters sell animal hides, there is a Khajit that appears on the road into Solitude that sells a fair few hides as well.

Turn all that into leather and then turn some of that leather into strips then create leather bracers.

Why the **** don't we have hotkeys for spells / items? I don't like the favorite menu (Q), and it's so bloody annoying to switch spells.

Come to think of it, the selection itself is annoying, already said the 'wrong' thing because the game registered the wrong line, and not the one I picked (dialogues).

Still loving it.. Kinda get lost in the huge world XD

Once you favorite spells/items you can assign it to a number button. Just open your favorite menu and pick the thing you want to hotkey and hit that button.

Well, I had some extra money this week and the reviews for Skyrim have been glowing. So I decided to try it out even though Morrowind and Oblivion bored the crap out of me. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the game. I am enjoying it much much more than previous games in the series.

I bought it for the 360, and after hearing about the supposed install glitch, I decided to play it off the disc for now. The graphics are pretty good. As most of the reviews say the graphics are fantastic on a macro scale, but muddy if you zoom-in. That's fine with me though, for the most part I don't notice it.

There isn't too much I dislike about the game so far, but there is one major problem I have encountered. I won't call it a glitch, maybe just very unlucky circumstance. I have yet to fight a dragon outside of the

Whiterun watchtower quest

. I have been running around for a few hours now, doing various dungeons, misc objectives, etc. But I have yet to get randomly attacked by a dragon. It's kind of disappointing that I've gone this long without one, as that is one of the major "features" of the game. I realize the key word in there is "random", but I figured they would have some type of safeguard in the code to say "oh crap, the player has gone 8 hours without an attack. Better throw a dragon at them..."

Is there a point during the main quests where dragon attacks become more frequent? As of now, I'm beginning to act like the NPCs and doubt they even exist.

Took about 10 hours to get my first Dragon encounter and then i had two in quick succession, plus i saw one in the distance too.

There are a few side quests that you get to battle dragons.

They're not as exciting as they should be. They don't really vary other than the location you fight them in. They do sometimes drop decent loot though.

I heard they do lose their mystique after a few battles, but it's still lame for them not to happen.

There is a point (only a few quests) after your first encounter, where you fight another dragon, and I assume there are more like it (stopped a couple quests after the last one). But doing mage guild quests and other random quests I have ran into 2 random dragon encounters. Also, I don't think they are exactly random (at least, not all of them), my friend encountered one up on a mountain and I plan to go to the same mountain and see if its there. I also encountered one on a mountain (different than the one my friend did), as soon as I got close to the peak the dragon attacked.

Also, there is a map you can pick up at one point, it is not a very good map but it does highlight dragon burial sites, pretty sure the dragons tend to hang around those sites.

I agree, they are cool and fun, but I don't see much point to them other than the cool factor and the loot they drop. Most dragons either fly around a lot, or land and fight on the ground, some have a pretty balanced mix. But beyond that, they are all very similar fights so far. Though the last dragon encounter I had was pretty epic, it was flying, and when its health got below a certain point, it just careened into the ground, ragdoll physics and everything. I thought it was dead but it was still moving after it hit, so I had to finish it off, but I swear it looked like it had warped the terrain where it hit the ground, but it was much more likely that it just landed in a spot that had terrain that looked like that, given how the maps in bethesda games work.

I also had a pretty funny encounter with a mammoth earlier. I had a terrain advantage so I decided to fight it with my companion and atronach, it killed my atronach in 2 hits so I kept resummoning it....I had it down to maybe 30% health and I turn around to see a giant trying to smash me too. I keep kiting and resummoning my atronach when I can but I couldn't keep up (stamina-wise) with kiting both the giant and mammoth (I hate how AI actually seems halfway smart and strafes if you strafe, to keep up and block you off from moving a direction, but it is cool nonetheless).

I've killed like 9 or so dragons. Just running around exploring (81 locations discovered). There out there. I've only done like 3 or 4 main story quests, 2 civil war. Nothing for Companions or Thieves and I only just joined the College. Found a few places where the Dragon icon appeared on map, and they were normally tough battles. Fought two when I fast traveled to Winterhold. You just might be getting lucky or unlucky.

I came across a dragon that chills on the side of a mountain so I went to fight him and right when I started to fight him a random dragon appeared. Fighting two dragons, sucks. Constantly getting attacked from both sides. After about 20 minutes I just re-loaded. Couldn't get enough clear shots at one to force him to land, before the other messed me up.

32 hours in. How about you?

How in the name of **** did you get a Smithing level of 100 already?

buying materials rather than finding them and making hundreds of silver rings

I am done with the mages collage, 1 step left for Theives Guild, Have full Dragon Scale armor (legendary quality) Glass sword (Legendary), Nightengale Bow. I have the fully furnished house in Solitude as well as the one in whiterun. and only been playing for about 30 hours.

    • WordArt was cool. We now have color fonts as a substitute although Word only supports COLRv0 and COLRv1 (Fraud OS 11 only). The OpenType SVG color font format needs to be supported by Office. Adobe's apps support it
    • i backup my files, incl keepass to my proton drive using Syncback which i paid for (thanks Warwagon!). they have a free version but i can't remember what it does and doesn't do anymore. anyways, it's really, really simple and easy to use. i also periodically keep backups of my keepass onsite especially when i've changed or added a password that is important to me. if you don't wanna spend time on the syncthing setup, get syncback. haha i even got my dad to use it for his backups to usb and he doesn't even need my help!!! (thank god!)
