I'm sure someone will make a mod so you can't open menus or change armor/weapons in combat. There's always lots of realism mods for elder scroll games. These kinds of mods require the construction kit though.

Personally, I don't see it as a problem. I can't shoot flames from my hands in real life so I don't see how it's an issue that I can pause in the middle of combat to chug potions.

I'm more bothered by the pausing and sorting through menus in the middle of combat, which do detract from the gameplay flow. I mean when you are already there in some time-space vacuum it doesn't really matter anymore as the realism is already thrown out the door. Also, there would be some balance problems as heavy melee players without magic depends a lot on potions, whereas ranged players don't in the same degree (kiting and not getting hit is better).

Personally, I don't think whether realism matters is the point, I think it makes for a better game because it creates more complexity and also gives you more of a feeling that the game world is real. Melee combat is more effective, and would be doubly more effective if every opponent in the game were just like you and healed when he was left to rest. There's no reason why you should need to choose one gameplay style anyway, and if you did you could compliment yourself with a follower with a different style; melee fighters can hire a archer, and so on.

if you want realism, dont use potions *i would die in a couple seconds if thats the case...

I do agree about pausing mid-battle to do tons of actions that you wouldn't normally be able to do. I like WoW's approach, where the only equipment you can swap out mid-battle are weapons (and maybe trinkets, but I don't remember exactly). It makes sense.

And for potions, a cooldown would be a good idea as well. I'm sure things like this will be modded into the game though.

Its also funny that basically you're carrying around a big bag of dozens of potions, you always manage to pick the right one out, and none of them break.

Anyone here play Oblivion? I was thinking after beating Skyrim to try Oblivion since I never really played it ... but wonder if it's good enough to go back and play.

I was thinking about playing Oblivion again before picking this up, but then I took an arrow to the knee

Oblivion was good for it's time, but after playing Skyrim, you'll probably be disappointed because Skyrim improved on so much. If you do go and play it, make sure to download all the popular mods, especially the graphics ones.

Already finished my first play through (clocked about 100 hours - got absolutely addicted the first week). Kind of disappointed the creation kit is taking so long to be released. I'm going on break soon and would have loved to play with mods and create some as well. Oh well.

On a side note, I'm hoping Bethesda's working on Fallout 4. With this better engine and the improvements they've made to Skyrim, Fallout 4 is going to be epic.

For anyone who doesn't like the inventory screens and all the missing info, try out QD Inventory.

Not perfect, but it is so much easier than the normal menu. You can see armour level, weight, and value, plus there is item sorting. The only thing that I want now is to be able to select item type (weapon, apparel, potions, misc etc) when browsing the contents of a container. The chest in one of my homes has hundreds of items in it of all types (my own fault) and finding the right item is getting to be a chore.

Had my first backwards flying dragon yesterday... And I believe it is a memory leak issue that causes it. I started the game, it loaded as normal. I had some friends over who wanted to see a dragon, so I opened the map, selected a dragon shrine, and quick traveled.

Now this is where I noticed the game had a issue. The load for the quick travel took about 2 minutes.... It just sat there forever. I was like, " Damn, loads never take this long, especially for a quick travel. It should have finished about a minute or 2 ago." Then it loaded up. Frame rate was about 20fps it seemed. The dragon was just flying away from me, until it hit a certain distance, and stopped. I took out my bow, and started pelting him. After getting the dragon to 0 health, it flew farther away. I got on my horse, chased it down. When I got back into distance again, the dragon was still in the air, with 0 health, but my fps had gone to about 5fps.. it was just horrible. The dragon finally did a tornado dive through the ground and disappeared. My game then crashed. And my PS3 was very very very hot. So I stopped playing it for the night, as I didn't want the game to maybe break my system. ARG

Whats the deal with the arrow to the knee comments? I saw something yesterday but I can't see images here at work.

Got a Glass sword (can't remember where from now  ) and it makes you a God in battle if you are proficient in 1 handed. You absorb 15 points of health with every hit. Saved my a$$ a few times I can tell ya.

Also whats the deal with Dragon Bone Armour? I finally get to level 100 Smithing and Daedric has a higher armour rating :s

The only advantage I can see is that it's slightly lighter (which is useless if you have the perk that makes equipped heavy armour weightless)

Am I missing something?

Maybe I crafted my Dragon Armor with some potions applied or something.. because my Dragon Armor has about 30 more points of armor than what Daedric gives. But I still wear Daedric due to how awesome it looks :p

Yeah I didn't think of drinking a Smithing Potion before making it and now I've made 2 sets of armour and haven't got any scales left to upgrade :| . I need to kill more dragons, and find a potent smithing potion. :shiftyninja:

Agree that daedric looks so much better too.

Actually, the armor itself, just made regularly, is just fine. I don't get damaged at all by anything except for magic, and magic only hurts right now due to the patch bug. With just regular 100 smithing dragon or daedric armor, you shouldn't have anything to worry about, except for giants :p

Using potions and other things to increase your BS over 100, is just more overkill to your overpowerness :p

    • Really? Despite the memory price rises, nothing can kill it? I thought something would.
    • I think there will be a 27H1 for actual users of 26H1 The 25h2 supports ARM too : Snapdragon X, Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite
    • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two.
