Very disappointing that they went with Op. Metro, VERY. Caspian Border would have worked as a fantastic preview of BF awesomeness, especially to lure new customers in with amazing footage via YouTube (lots of people will be uploading videos and lots will watch them...). Meh, DICE's loss.

But that said, too many gamers act like hostile 12 year old dip****s that are apparently entitled to anything and everything. DICE aren't really obliged to deliver an open beta/demo (only obligatory towards MoH pre-orders), but they did. A disappointing one, yes, but still.

Yeah, those recommended specs, considering they claim that is what will run the game on Medium, are a bit higher than I expected. I have decided though i really want to get more life out of my SLi'd 460's, so all of this talk of me possibly getting a new card is slowly starting to sound crazy to myself. That and although I know there is no definite release date and they have been pushed back to at least Q1 of next year, I am holding out on Nvidia releasing their 600 series. At least I really want to try and do so. Decisions, Decisions. Will see. But going to see if I can get away with running the game on my 2 460's instead of purchasing a 580 sometime soon, that I have definitely pretty much decided on.

I'm going to be running on one 460 so hopefully I won't have any troubles :) The Alpha ran fine.

Same here, though on AMD side of things. I thought 6950 would be plenty (well exceed rest of specs) but looks like will have to wait for HD7000 to hopefully get it cranking on 'ultra/maximum' but I guess we'll wait and see how retail version is before making absolute final judgement.

Well good luck to you, but I do think we may have two different definitions of what running fine means. When the Alpha first launched SLi was not enabled the first day, and it ran horrible for me. I was lucky to get 30 frames per second. and it dropped well below 30 at times for me, into the teens actually. Once SLi was enabled, I was able to get around 50-75 depending on what was going on at the time. Personally on the PC, I pretty much need to have a shooter running at at least 60 frames per second to consider it running fine.

The only part of the system reqs that looks a bit high is the video card. If you're into pc gaming and not running a quad-core cpu today that just seems a bit silly. lol

How much faster is a gtx 560 compared to a gtx 470 superclocked? I haven't been paying attention to that kind of stuff in a while.

I'm somewhat disappointed that DICE decided to allow only one map and one game mode for the open beta. It's a shame because conquest mode (on Caspian Border) would have really showed off what Battlefield 3 was about.

As for the system requirements, I think Battlefield 3 will be the first game where I just meet the minimum (dual core Intel + Radeon HD 4870).

I meet the recommended requirements, but according to DICE's community manager that'll only buy me Medium settings. Damn...

An overclocked 470 should beat a stock-clocked 560 in pretty much every situation. I'm assuming they're referring to the newer 560 though, rather than the more powerful Ti.

1 map? BC2 beta owns this one...

How so? The BC2 beta also had one map; however, it wasn't the same on all platforms. If I remember correctly, the PC version featured Port Valdez and the PS3 version featured Arica Harbor.

Oh it just keeps getting better. Jets in BF3 wont have bomb.

I don't think it's that bad. If I remember correctly, you have to choose an air-to-air or air-to-ground specialization. I guess that's closer to the real thing.

EDIT: I think this is what I read last time.

Vehicle customization in Battlefield 3 is just as deep and tactical as the weapon customization showcased here on the blog last week. For every choice you make in vehicle customization, you are effectively gearing up for a specific combat role and leaving something else out. In the Russian fighter jet, do you go with anti-air missiles to dogfight enemy air targets, or would you rather mount a handful of laser guided air to ground missiles as your secondary weapon to harass opposing tanks? Do you equip it with IR flares to avoid missiles, or would you rather take your chances with the fire extinguisher in case you get hit?

Wasn't the only map in the bc2 beta port valdez?

Port Valdez was the map for the PC beta. The PS3 beta featured Arica Harbor.

    • I've always preferred this possibility. There is something that feels good about the idea that all matter in the universe will eventually come back together and maybe even result in another big bang. The idea that the universe would fizzle out over the eons and forever drift apart is a little depressing. I realize it is not logical to let a basic human desire for life to have a grand everlasting meaning change the way I feel about a scientific theory, but I am human, so that is how I feel :-).
    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.

It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. Compact Mode: Maximizes screen space by minimizing UI elements. Zen Glance: Quick website previews. Split Views: View multiple tabs in the same window. Sidebar: Access bookmarks and tools quickly. Vertical Tabs: Manage tabs vertically. Container Tabs: Separate browsing sessions. Fast Profile Switcher: Switch between profiles easily. Tab Folders: Organize tabs into folders. Customizable UI: Personalize browser interface. Security Features: Inherits Firefox’s robust security. Fast Performance: Lightweight and optimized for speed. Zen Mods Customization: Deep customization with mods. Quick Access: Easy access to favorite websites. Open Source: Built on Mozilla Firefox with community collaboration. Community-Driven: Active development and feedback from users. GitHub Repository: Contribute and review the source code. Zen Browser 1.21.3b changelog: New Features Updated to Firefox 152.0.1 Fixes Fixed transparency not working after updating to 1.21.2b (#14259) Fixed frequent crashes affecting users with Intel Raptor Lake processors Fixed an issue on macOS where choosing a PDF option, such as "Save as PDF", from the system print dialog would send the job to your printer instead of saving a file. • Microsoft, why can't I just turn off Copilot on my MS account (in order to stop OneDrive from wanting to summarize everything, ahem) in a way that doesn't break OneNote instead?
