I gave it a try today, I am a Battlefield fan and although I really don't like that I've got to use origin to play this game I decided to at-least give it a shot. And hey, free open beta can't say no to free right?

The browser launch system to me seems quite silly it doesn't really add anything to the server browser system and it's a lot slower for me than Bad Company 2. A lot of people said the browser was faster but I'm just not seeing that personally. Also it requires a lot more input from me to get in to a game. Once I select quick join I expect it to just join a game but it spends some time finding a game then presents me with a popup to click to join that server then it begins to load it and once its done tells me to click the notification yet again to finally bring the game up full screen. This to me is just stupid and a poor design choice.

I don't like that you cant simply open the game and change settings you have to be inside a server first. So I've joined a server and you first of all have to stay alive because if you die whilst inside a settings menu you are booted from the menu back to the game. So I have to join a game in progress, prone somewhere out of sight just to change my graphics settings. If they wanted us to use this web page to find servers I think they should have also made it possible to change your game settings from that web page. Just seems silly to have to waste someone's server resources just to tweak some game settings.

Why is it even passworded in the first place? People want to play BF3 and not BC 2.5

Not understanding that either - why did they even include the map if they didn't want people to play it?!

What does everyone else think about the UI ? The bright orange and Blue is sore on the eye's and hard to see. The map on the bottom left is almost impossible to see at times. Also why can't we get a stats menu when we press the back button on xbox ? The back button has no use right now.

But the gameplay feels good, the shooting is very nice but why is it let down by some silly small things ?

yeah because now an EA account and Origin Account are the same thing. If you already had an EA account it's not an Origin account.

So i can just make an EA account? I have neither but do not see an option on the Origin site. I just want to be able to view BF3 stats during BETA and upon official release, thanks for the quick reply also by the way.

Anyone else getting disconnected constantly from Caspian border servers? I can play for around a minute and then I'm thrown out and battlelog says it timed out. I can see loads of other people playing so I'm guessing they're not having any issues.

they need to do some tweaks on the guns. the pullback on them is ridiculous...

I don't like the UI. I didn't like it in the first multiplayer reveal trailer and I don't like it now. IMO the colours are too bright and neon-like. I liked the tone of BC2's UI better. Plus the point popups are too flashy and obtrusive. Again, BC2's notifications were less in your face and thus better.

The map is terribad. Although the minimap is kinda OK, it's not detailed enough and it's ****ing useless when expanded. Another thing I liked better in BC2.

BTW getting a HD6950 tomorrow. I hope it's worth it (upgrading from GTX460)! :)

So I finally got a chance to play C-Border... OMFG!!!

THIS is the Battlefield I know! It blew me away. It's far more than I expected it to be.

It's so weird the difference in feel is night and day between this map and Metro. It totally felt like a whole other game.

Wow guys. I had my doubts playing Metro and was honestly an inch away from giving up on this beta.

As was stated earlier, don't judge this game simply on that one Metro map.

It honestly doesn't do the game any justice. Frostbite has left me in complete awe of it's power.

I have a feeling those really enjoying Metro are in for one hell of a surprise.

For those having flickering problems, in the past a few graphical settings were the cause for that in other games... Try playing with Shadows, the HBAO or whatever it is called, and possibly AA actually. Worth a shot.

Just played the beta on the PS3. It's alright, although as others have mentioned it's a shame there isn't more of the Battlefield experience available yet (i.e. vehicles, maybe another map?).

The controls are a pain to get to grips with though. It's almost as if they've intentionally moved everything to show that they are not another FPS. As an example, why would you have R2 to pull out your knife? And why push in the joystick to crouch and go prone?

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
    • Microsoft, totally not confusing /s 25H2 - Current for non-Arm based Windows 26H1 - Current for Arm based Windows 26H2 - Only for non Arm Windows
    • After I installed those, my older but capable Win 11 laptop (16GB RAM) reported it as 26H2 26300.8697. Then I installed it on my big laptop (128GB RAM! Hehe sorry), it reported it as 25H2 26220.8690. Ugh. Do I have to switch Insiders channels from Release to Beta?
