Are tanks useless now? just getting smashed by choppers and jets. Don't stand a chance against them.

That's the way it was in BF2. Just gotta start planning things out better. (IE hiding in between objects).

Also, in the real world "RPGs", use shaped charges, that can pretty much destroy armour in one or two hits, so this isn't "unreal" or "fake".

Scoping with Sniper Rifles' time has been extended. Not that it really matters, but they've messed up the bullet drop.

I was almost perfect at mid to long range headshots and now I'll have to go through it all again.

Did I mention that Tanks are almost useless now. One hit RPG/SMAW, its disabled. Next thing you know, is the killcam.

Repair Tool' repair timing has been awfully, awfully nerfed

:s :s :s

I can attest to the bullet drop. It has been royally screwed, and also the bullet doesn't stay on the screen as long, so it is hard to see where it drops and hits.

I think you guys are experiencing the placebo effect. I'm fairly certain they did not change bullet drop on any guns. What they did change was spread and recoil though. The first game after the patch I went 42 and 12 using the m98b. Apart from me not having played in 2 or so weeks it felt exactly the same as it used to.

Yep, a few guns had their recoil changed, P-90 off the top of my head is one of the guns I can think of. Also, a few weapons had their damages changed too.

The sounds of impact of RPG/SMAW/whatever while in a vehicle have been changed as well. It sounds pretty awesome now. Also, don't forget about the horn that's been added to jeeps :p

I freaked out over these. I thought my sound card spazed out on me.

well damn. why does our army waste so much money on special missiles/etc to blow up enemy takes, when they could just use a cheap rpg.

also its amazing how many of our tanks the insurgents blew up with theirs noobtubes in iraq.</s

No, its neither relaitic nor tactical.

If we were basing the game on realism there would be no respawn. You would die and that's it. Game over.

I agree that tanks definitely drop quicker now. I don't mind how quick they fall but I wish they weren't disabled so quickly. The new mini-map is sweet.

I've mostly enjoyed the patch for the few games I've played but my biggest complaint at the moment is I haven't noticed much a change, if any, with the fall damage. I can adapt to vehicle and weapon changes as they come and go, no problem. But taking damage randomly over short jumps annoys the crap out of me.

Also, I don't snipe much but I've used the m98b a few times post patch and have enjoyed it more than I had previously.

The fall damage was meant to be relaxed for short falls i.e. jumping out of the 2nd floor window on one of the Metro buildings but it seems like another bug has cropped up.

good (Y) i hate the noobs who camp in the tanks.

Tanks were a pain in the ass before this patch. It took forever just to disable them, and the fact that the helo's rocket pods were next to useless, means people could camp in them forever. Simply get out and repair it. Now we can actually disable them in a few shots and move on with the game.

Yep, I think this is one of the best parts of the patch. I was sick of seeing a crowd of engineers following the tanks around for the whole match.

Haha, I freaking love it. Makes it more fun to be shot by an RPG and whatnot, haha XD

Though I don't know if it's just me or if this has been like this forever, but TV Missiles are 1 hit wonders now :s The tanks I've been driving have been destroyed with 1 TV missile each several times today :s

The only thing good about this patch is the new minimap, the game just isn't fun anymore but I pretty much expected this after the fiasco with BF2 and the nerfing of the weapons in that game, I figured it was only a matter of time before this game would be ruined.

Developers ruining their games seems to be a trend anymore starting way back (at least for me) in 2004 when Epic torn UT2004 up and made it a useless newb-fest, it seems most games are balanced really good at release, unless there is something glaring and obvious they should be left alone and concentrate on bug fixes and enhancements, if they spent all their effort on fixing bugs then BF3 would continue to be an epic game for years to come, instead it's a beaten down old has-been anymore after this latest patch.

I hate noobs who sit behind rocks on Kharg / Caspain RGP'ing tanks.

Vehicles need to be dumbed down in this game, infanty is the way to bring in more COD kiddies.

bolded i agree with, cause i am one.

the rest, i don't blame people for camping out with an RPG railing tanks. What else are you suppose to do? It used to take 3-4 hits just to disable them, meanwhile tank guys sees you and blasts you away.

^Meh, I somewhat dislike it though :/ Would've been nice if we where at least able to fix the tank or at least use smoke against them.

Also, did anyone read my post about playing on the NiF server? Here's the IP: 173.199.75.139:25200. I won't be spamming this all the time. Just thought I'd share it with you guys. There's also anti cheat/hack/whatnot in place just so you know :)

Smoke would be useless since TV guided missiles are manually guided.

@Crisps: Why dumb down vehicles when that's what Battlefield is all about and sets it apart from other first person shooters? :s

Was being sarcastic :p

It's true though, DICE gave us Metro as the beta demo map, to draw in the COD kids. Now they've dumbed down vehicles because COD kids cry they can't wipe out a tank while on foot.

Battlefield is dead, the future is tiny shoe box maps so people can rank up and get excited everytime something new flashes up on the screen.

BF2 / 2142 are the last of any true BF game. The franchise is dead.

I think this is relevant to the discussion, lol:

The point is that if you are getting rofl stomped each game you're going to feel like anything you are using is under powered and anything any one on the other team is over powered.

I think tanks, jets, and helis are all fine now. There were no changes to bullet drop, only spread and recoil were changed, etc. I'm not saying I really care for any of the changes, but that's beside the point. The only thing I really would complain about is the suppression increase, which seems to be a "why the hell not, lets do it" kind of change because it's not something anyone ever complained about or thought needed changing.

    • This seems backwards. You should have to explicitly authorize files for outside use. It shouldn't be the default.
    • Wow you are right, I never even noticed this until you said it! (870E Aorus Master) Before testing this card I had a TP-Link tx401 10GbE PCIe card in that slot (now using XikeStor 310 Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter).
    • Lack of 5.1 makes this a no sale. What I really wish creative would make would be a USB version that supports 5.1 analog audio for speakers, can switch to headphone mode, and matches the specs of their top tier cards. The current X870E AMD motherboards dont have a great option for adding a PCIE x1 card without cutting down pcie lanes to the graphics card.
    • The Microsoft Office feature that time forgot by Usama Jawad I have been actively using Microsoft Word for the past couple of decades in academic, professional, and personal capacities. Although I used it through the perpetual version of Office apps at the start, I have been an active subscriber of Microsoft 365 Family subscription for over five years now. This means that my Word installation is regularly updated with new features, some of which I don't really like, but that's beside the point. As new features get continuously added, old ones that used to be a staple of Word have started to take a backseat. While I was reminiscing over my Windows experiences from my childhood today, I suddenly remember one such capability that I heavily used in my younger years but have not really touched in over a decade, and haven't seen in documents created by others either. That feature is WordArt. Just to clarify, WordArt is not a Microsoft product specific to Word, and is included in other Office apps like PowerPoint and Excel too. However, Microsoft Word is the app that I used Word Art in heavily, while making assignments or other deliverables for school. If you're unaware, WordArt offers a collection of styling techniques for text, introducing 3D effects like shadows and reflections in the text. It used to be one of the coolest things ever when I was at school and me and my classmates would often compete to ensure that our assignment's title in WordArt was truly the best and stood out above the rest. See some examples of WordArt, still present in the latest versions of Word below: Although WordArt is undeniably cool, it has taken a bit of a backseat, and has been relegated from the Home tab to the Insert toolbar, along with a bunch of other utilities, making it very easy to miss. This isn't exactly surprising because WordArt doesn't really have a place in academic and professional documents anymore, and while I have seen some creatives using it while developing promo material, even that sector has gravitated more towards dedicated graphic designing tools in the past years. For the vast majority of us, WordArt doesn't really exist, and that's alright. At least, it's still an option that can allow us to reminisce our childhood or even make some quick text stylization, if we really need it. Perhaps its usage has waned over time or the novelty has worn off, but I haven't even seen children use it in their academic assignments anymore. In fact, many don't even know that it exists. Maybe that's the fate of every beloved feature. What once felt cutting edge eventually becomes a relic, quietly tucked away as tastes, trends, and technology move on. WordArt may no longer dominate school assignments or decorate the covers of classroom projects, but for those of us who grew up with it, it remains a colorful reminder of a time when making text glow, bend, and cast giant shadows felt like the height of creativity. Hidden behind a few clicks in modern Word, it still survives not as a productivity tool, but as a small piece of computing nostalgia that refuses to disappear.
