Not entirely sure why it matters. there's barely more than a day left before it's open to everyone. Although I sure wouldn't turn down an early access give if it were given to me.

*trying to be patient*

And I did pre order, it's just my pre order was in place before this Origin thing came about so I couldn't really change it. lol

I know I know, I'm just incredibly bored tonight^^; Otherwise I could also care less about a day and the Steam thing, I have some spare things to giveaway and I don't want to appear greedy!

So I've been playing for a bit...

It's a great game, but has it's faults. Sure, given it's a beta.

But what I have an issue with is response time when switching weapons. Switching to pistol doesn't feel that responsive/fast.

Playing a medic, it was tough switching from rifle, to pistol and to paddle/heal kit.

I'm extremely active and play really aggressive and when I try this here, seems as though the game just can't keep up with me.

Med kits seem to throw themselves at times lol, idk.

Never had an issue with BFBC2.

Controls just don't feel tight enough here with BF3.

Speaking of Paddles... Reviving players is hit/miss. It's extremely tough. Sometimes I sit on the players and revive them on 3rd try.

Damn, I missed it the first time you asked me to "share" :D;

You still need a code man? Just PM me if you do.

I think this is going to be a great game from what I played. It runs better on my computer then BC2 or at least it feels like it does (I never checked the fps) I have it running on mostly high settings with my i5 750 and 6850. One thing that annoyed my though was when I spawned there was like a black screen for a second but I was spawned so this led to me being killed before I could even move a couple of times.

So, so happy they have improved performance ten-fold since the Alpha. 2 460's in SLi, 1920x1080, all settings at high except one, AntiAliasing Post or something like that, set to Medium, and a consistent 60 FPS, which leads me to believe V Sync was on. This was all simply pressing ALT-Enter once the game launched, so it auto detected all of those settings, and it runs like a dream. Never saw it go lower than 50, and that was when a whole lot of particle effects, etc. were happening on screen. Was more or less a consistent 60 FPS though. Really quite ecstatic I do not have to purchase a new video card.

So yeah, cannot say I will be playing the Beta much, unless they open up Conquest mode. I loathe RUSH mode, I truly do, and this map is not the greatest either, especially since I played the hell out of it in the Alpha. Just happy to see it performs well. I will wait for the retail version to enjoy it, got a whole lot of other games to play as it is.

I was wondering who that was that I accepted a friend request from. Nice, now I know it is you. (Y)

I don't know about you guys, but I had way more fun on the tunnel part of Metro than the open areas. Doesn't sound like something you'd hear about a BF game, but...

That said, when the teams make two good fronts, it's a hell of a lot of fun!

I just hope they fix the mouse bindings soon, feels so weird not using my usual config :(

Well after playing for a few minutes I can tell you one thing that annoys me. You can't adjust settings while on the respawn screen. You can't look at key bindings. You can't do anything other than adjust your kit. And that's kind of really irritating. I end up just standing there like a lump while looking through my settings trying to figure out key binds and stuff and then get killed and get booted out of the menu and have to start over. Blargh.

Other than that, the game seems to run really smooth for me and I don't even have the beta drivers installed yet, which funnily enough the game tells me I need despite the fact that it still runs just fine. lol

oh look another console port...

and speaking of drivers, i got a key for the game (thanks killmaster!), and i know ati has beta drivers, but updating/chaging working ATI drivers is the dumbest thing you can ever do to your computer. My current 5-6 month old drivers work great...

The Xbox 360 version isn't too bad. It's actually a little better than I expected in terms of image quality. As for the bugs, the screen flickers every so often and the frame rate fluctuates when there's a lot of action on screen. If they could fix those bugs, then I'll be happy.

I plan on trying the PC version on the 29th. The alpha version didn't run too well but from what I've been reading, the performance has gotten better with the beta. I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up though. My Radeon HD 4870 just doesn't cut it anymore.

Uhm. No. A bad design decision yes. But I wouldn't say that's the result of a console port. The game has tons of options that most modern pc games don't have. But like I said, you just can't adjust them while you are dead, lol. This is just an ill thought out design decision and that's all and I'm sure if enough people complain about it (and I'm sure they will) it will be changed. There's still around 4 weeks until the game is officially released.

Other than that relatively small problem I keep on getting disconnected from servers, the server time out error. Annoying.

Yeah, the game is dx10/11 only. Has slew of graphics options. Would not call it a console port.

alright fair enough :p i'm just talking **** like usual...

gotta clear some room on this SSD before i can install this thing.

at least it's downloading at 5 megs a second... so good on the server speed EA!

I forgot to mention this but it was extremely hard to get into a game in the X360 version. It looks like EA's servers are getting hammered. I wonder how they'll handle the load on the 29th.

Well I'm having some really odd movement problems. The best I can describe it is that the movement is extremely floaty and and lagged. I move my mouse in a circle and I end up spinning in a circle for about 7 or 8 seconds.

I updated my graphics drivers and restarted my computer to see if that helps.

Also, as I said before, this game actually performs better on my pc than BC2 does. At least on this beta map. It's actually about what I expected.

like bc2 at the start, can't chat between rounds... that's annoying. also pushing alt+enter to go full screen after changing rounds or new game is annoying...

ps, i hate battlelog already.

AK ****ing sucks...

gernades are as useful as they are in brink...

You obviously don't know the definition of a beta product...

    • This got me thinking, would you rather a self driving car prioritise protecting its passengers or everyone else? I'd choose the one that keeps me and my kids safest. At some point, these cars have to make those choices already, don't they? Wonder if we have a way to find out what way they lean.
    • The proportion (or number of iterations) has nothing to with this aspect of Copyright I am describing. In short, it doesn't matter how many times the manager tells you to change something or how. Your work product is always YOURS until and unless you then assign that to the person representing the client/company, usually for financial compensation -- either in salary or as a subcontract work for hire payment. if iterations determined copyright, then businesses would have learned to just keep making changes until they could claim they owned the copyright, without having to compensate the artist for their work. And that would be BAD. The only place where the amount of changes does have a role is in how much does a human modify a previous public domain work (from any source) before it is considered fair use or their own work, etc. For example, if a human makes substantial changes to a public domain (re: AI, by definition) work, then they can then claim that derivative work as their own...but NEVER the original version, of course. That's why anyone can make a movie about Dracula, for example, as long as it is based on the public domain novel, but not if they take new ideas from copyrighted movies made afterwards. As one of the people who personally advised the US Copyright Office on their recent ruling on these very issues, be assured that I specifically used the terminology precisely -- though I made it simple enough for laymen to understand it. If I made this confusing by doing so, I apologize. But, to be clear regarding your assumption that I would agree to your second statement that I quoted above -- the answer is NO. If AI does the work, no matter how much "direction" you give it, it cannot be copyrighted. All AI generated content is in the Public Domain and therefore the copyright cannot be assigned to ANYONE, even you -- until and unless substantial modifications are made to it BY A HUMAN BEING (yourself or a contracted artist/writer/etc.) and then that copyright on the derivative work is legally (in writing) transferred to you. This is a critical distinction. And it is important that people, especially AI sloppers, understand this. For example, YouTube is not paying AI slop generators for the copyright, etc. of their AI slop. What YouTube is doing is sharing AD REVENUE for permission to publish your AI slop. Copyright/ownership/rights never come into it. Importantly, that means that anyone can copy any AI slopware on YouTube, etc. and rehost it anywhere they want, even back on YouTube, and there is nothing legal that YouTube can do about it with regards to copyright protections, ownership, DMCA, etc. Anyone is legally free to use any AI slopware in any way they want. When this ruling was pending, I warned Disney legal of all of this before they did their OpenAI deal -- that it would literally dilute their entire IP portfolio forever. They ignored that warning for the PR and stock bump. But that is why, when the ruling came down last year, Disney quickly extricated themselves from that OpenAI deal, even eating the initial upfront fees -- followed closely by OpenAI ending their entire AI video generating business model. They adjusted their PR release dates to make this less obvious to shareholders, of course. Phew. I hope that this clears up the key distinctions for you and anyone reading. If you have any additional questions or even hypotheticals about AI and Copyright, please feel free to ask.
