So why was MrChainsaw NOT banned for posting Nechrophila Child Porn in the subs forum? if this rule is the case

No Graphic Material of either a macabre or pornographic nature.

Sorry but you have just proved my point regarding INCONSISTENT MODDING

I'd like to know that too!

Are you implying that chat mods are lowest of the lowest? They are gods!

From what I can make out, anyone bar news posters is superior to them and can overrule what they think. That leads to situations like us being tempbanned for weeks/permabanned for using memes and another user being suspended for 24 hours for posting child necrophilia porn, because it all depends on which superior staff members are online at the time.

Like I told you the other day, we are not puppets. We do consult but in the end, we make our own decisions.

Pics or it didn't happen!!!

I just asked about it and for one (I'm told) it wasn't child porn, and secondly he was banned for 24 hours.

They are clearly lying to you, it was Child Necrophilia porn and even it wasnt It's still Necrophilia porn that deserves a perma ban not a stupid 24 hour ban

Edit: 30 days suspension.

We believed it was child porn (if you want to get graphic, the body with an empty thorax and a **** stuck through it looked way too small to be an adult) and I'm pretty sure it was just a days suspension, unless that was secretly changed but I'm sure he was back in the chatroom the following day (I'm sure he even trolled us about it in #subscribers. I can get the logs if you can get us the day).

Good grief I seriously hope that resulted in a permaban. Are you telling me that someone actually effectively got away with posting that kind of filth? Damn right that deserves a permanent ban.

Am I the only one that find this thread laughable?

This is the internet, if I wanted things censored for me then I would watch Nick Jr. If you can't deal with what people put on the internet, go back to AOL and atachment-less BBS.

Kindly stay out of it then thank you :)

No it's an attack on people that WANT to be moderated because they can't deal with reality so they want to be walled from it.

It's not about not being able to deal with reality. It's about keeping people in check - to a degree. #neowin shouldn't turn into a troll haven; go to the 4chan IRC channels for that.

Now you are just being silly....

What else would you call asking for moderation?

If it is something that the forum owners can get in legal issues for is one thing, if it's because the users are afraid of what they see it's a user problem.

You clearly have no idea what we're on about. It's probably in your own interests to stay away.

I dont want to be mod, i dont have the time, im asking for Consistent modding, something you cant seem to grasp...

Moderation on this site has been broken for years. I really don't know any other site that has the mod issues that this site has. Even 4chan, yes they have mods, doesn't have constant threads about mod problems. You would think after a few years they would get better but it doesn't. It never has. THey addd new mods, and more mods, but still the same problem. Mods tend to act like ass holes here. They rarely ask a persons intent or what they were trying to convey, they just read then warn, or read then ban. They rarely ask the user what they MEANT in a post, because they don't care.

That why I don't ever chat with mods on this site but still sub'd for 2 or 3 years. I thought the mods were junk but I liked the forum chat/topics. Lately even topics have been becoming less and less interesting. I spend maybe 20% of the time I used to here anymore.

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
