Slipstreaming Windows XP - A Neowin Guide

I have completed my guide on Slipstreaming Windows XP SP1 and hope I can contribute to the awareness I feel Microsoft could of done a better job at for home users.

Microsoft released Service Pack 1 for Windows XP late this summer which brings it to the latest available update to core components of XP. What Microsoft neglected to mention was that simply installing SP1 isn't always enough, system changes require you to re-install SP1. Thats where slipstreaming comes in. System administrators have favoured this approach since the birth of NT4 and Windows 2000 meaning companies and home users alike can install for example NT4 SP6 or Windows 2000 SP3 clean from CD. My guide shows you how you can backup and upgrade your Windows XP CD to Service Pack 1 level so that if you need to re-install you can go immediately to SP1 and skip frequent re-installs of the SP1 package.
