Amazon to create 2,250 full-time jobs with New York fulfilment centre

Amazon has announced plans for a new fulfilment centre in Staten Island, New York. The 855,000 square-foot complex will provide 2,250 new, full-time jobs that will involve working alongside robotics to “pick, pack and ship customer items”. Amazon says the jobs will offer competitive hourly wages with a benefits package which include healthcare, 401(k) and company stock awards from day one.

Sanjay Shah, Amazon’s Vice President of Customer Fulfilment, said:

“We are excited to bring our first fulfilment center to New York and work alongside the state’s incredible workforce. The support of local leaders has been instrumental in our ability to come to New York, and we are grateful for the welcome we’ve received to bring thousands of new jobs with benefits starting on day one.”

Aside from the benefits listed above, Amazon offers its regular full-time employees maternity and parental leave benefits and access to programmes such as Career Choice, where Amazon will help with 95% of your tuition fees for any courses related to in-demand fields, whether they’re relevant to your job at Amazon or not.

Amazon will post job openings on its job listings website when they’re available.
